I'm a merchant mariner and I've had mine for over a decade now. I bought in 2011 and it's been around the world somewhere north of 30 times, seen massive storms and salty sea air daily. I've climbed mountains on 4 continents and have swam in the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian oceans. I've ridden my motorcycle across Europe from Germany to Tibet and across the United states over 6 times. All of this while wearing my little casio. It's never let me down, and altough the bezel is no longer black from the wear, everything else works perfectly fine. It's the best watch ive ever owned and best $450 I've ever spent.
I've had this watch for almost 10 years and it's the best watch I've ever had and I have never changed the battery. I work in the oil& gas industry so it's been exposed to extremes daily, in my spare time I travel hike and swim. I've taken this watch to the tallest mountain in Indo China and I've used it diving in vietnam and Mexico. While the NESW directions are no longer legible and the grey plastic coating is all showing its true tan colored plastic it still works amazing. We love the moon phase, my girlfriend asks me about what the moons doing from time to time because she knows the watch will tell us. When we camped on the beach we used the tide function... It's just amazing piece of engineering from such a solid company. Definitely one of the best and most affordable watches ever made (considering its capabilities). I'm looking at upgrading to a Garmin and I worry I will be disappointed after I've worn the Garmin for 10 years, I don't think I will ever get rid of this watch because it's a great watch that will always work and that could come in handy at the end of days.
I always enjoy the protek casios since the late 80s i have a large collection of casio watches and this one would be definitely in my collection in the near future
Glad I got one of these before they were discontinued. Mine is on the resin strap but same watch otherwise. great feature set and beautiful display. I have a lot of casio Protreks, G-shocks and value model Casios and this one gets a lot of wear.
Lol, could you imagine? So in their defense the "T" code specifically means that the bracelet is titanium, but they should have been more cognizant and assumed that majority of their customers would think the case is titanium as well.
Just got this today, thought I'd treat myself (actually cheaper from Casio itself than local box-shifter!). Yes I know it's an older design and no, I'm not a Casio 'fanboy' but been buying them for years, have a couple now c. 20yrs old, believe it or not. Straps wear out, faces get scratched, get covered in (and cleaned of) paint/dust/oil/cement....and just keep on working (and these are all at the lower price-points too) ! Just want something that 'takes a lickin' & keeps on tickin' :-) Looking forward to getting into the PRW2500T and it's features (just got a kit to shorten links). So far, highly recommended. Thanks for the video walkthrough!
Very nice Simucom, very nice tool. There's one thing that i like much more than on my PRW60FC, that's lack of disgusting and overcomplicated ''smart'' crown. Push-buttons are a holy thing. That's one of the best and useful tools ever made, a pure example of a ''function over form''. I love it. What i don't like so much about any Pro Trek is the fact it can be affected with a magnetic fields....a lot. That's not a problem because you can calibrate it again, but that's usually a big procedure, in order to do that you really have to read instruction manual. That positive screen is beautiful, really nice. EL backlight is great, it's not destroying a ''night vision''. It seems to me like a lot of dirt could stuck under that rotating bezel and somehow make it difficult to turn. I don't like that overengineering about that bracelet, they really could throw away that useless back protection, make a good old drilled lugs and that's it. Anyway, that's one of the best Pro Treks ever made. I would like to have it despite it's too big for my wrist. That's far from a smart watch, that's a tool watch. Like off course.
@chris Vieira Just food for thought, at the time that I bought this watch, I was between jobs and didn’t have a lot of money up front. Companies like Sears will offer you either a low lease payment or a split pay option so that you just pay it off over time. It therefore makes it attainable for everyone. I think I paid $20 per month, can’t beat that!
@@degenerateWA this being an all rounder is an understatement. Love mine, like this layout better than the 3500 variation. As long as it gets exposure in the sun every other week, this thing has been ticking for almost 11 years without skipping a beat, great review and please ignore the trolls! 😉
Not a mall-ninjas friendly one :D - by look (subtle colors) + a lots of dedicated functions requiring consideration and calibration. One of the longest reviews to the moment - the camera loves it ;) Cheers! 15:03 - someone of us posted a message on Discord :)
@@degenerateWA Can't say :D Too many "bips" to the end of the video, might be the "edc-show-n-tell" theme with the big guns in the living room... If this is not an attractor for watch-lovers, may be the zombie apocalypse is already here :D
Comparing my PRG240T7 to the PRW2500T. i always feels like wearing the PRG240T7 just like putting an octopus on the hand, maybe due to the button sticking out from the case. The PRW2500T is a bit prettier i would say. Not sure the titanium bracelet are the same on both watches. On camera the PRW2500T bracelet seem abit more shinier.
@@degenerateWA I actually wish to ask a question if you can possibly help : how relevant is this model in 2020 ? I have a smartwatch etc and also a cheaper ABC also from Casio SGW1000 I think is the model - would 250 pounds justify the costs this year ? Are the sensors quite old apparently there’s a newer more accurate bunch of sensors used in the Casio that followed

You can't beat that testimony for a watch. Well-worn and properly used

I do love it. I’ve so nearly bought this a few times already. Trying to resist!!
It's cool for sure. I was bummed out with the resin case but aside from that I think it's a winner.

I can relate to the Casio obsession. The cost to quality ratio is irresistible.

This is the best protrek in my opinion. I hope they remake it with the newer sensors
WOW, that watch does everything. Can you track incoming watch orders? LOL I agree, if they state it is titanium, the case should be titanium as well.

Great pick up. Can't go wrong with a Casio. There's a reason why people re-buy the same model after it dies 20-30 years later🤘

I agree that is a tool. A little wrist computer tool.
I wish I could afford this watch! Believe it or not that's my dream watch!!!
If I was a billionaire I'd buy all of my viewers their dream watch. I hope you can find a good deal on one soon!

Casio never disappoints
I'm normally always pleased with Casio. Except their BS overpriced limited editions...
@@degenerateWA i hate the tag "limited edition" is not worth 4 times the price 🙄

That's awesome man. Love hearing about other people's experiences with great watches over long periods of time.

No problem, thanks for watching.
I've got one of those. It dominated my wrist till I got the gpr-b1000.

I'm sure the bracelets are very similar. Compared to my other titanium PRW3500 it's almost identical.

Good reviews, but need to invest in a better microphone.
It's in the works. For now I can settle with this level of audio quality, but I think I'm getting close to pinpointing which microphone I want.
