    I worked on UAVs (drones, singlecopters, RC gliders, rockets etc.) in the past and I plan to engineer and test a rocket that uses an electric ducted fan (EDF) as its source of propulsion.
    Problem: This technology is expensive and iterative development is needed, so I need a safety system that saves my UAV from crashing into the ground in case of failure.
    In this video, I build a fail-safe technology that detects critical flight behavior and deploys a two-stage parachute system that prevents crashing into the ground.

      It'd would be neat if there were a way to "invest" in a channel that had very low subscriber counts in hopes of it getting popular. I've managed to do that multiple times now with the most notable being Stuff Made Here (I subbed below 200k, now he's into the millions).

    cool idea but these tube spring loaded chutes for drones have been around for a good while.

    • @niklasbommersbach
      @niklasbommersbach  10 месяцев назад

      Yes... I just couldn't find one that fits my needs. I wanted to combine it with a drogue chute, wanted it to work autonomously and be "modular" so that I can swap chutes based on the weight of the UAV...

    • @Nick-xe2hu
      @Nick-xe2hu 10 месяцев назад

      @@niklasbommersbach I had similar features in mine. It was a MARS parachute system with an onboard module that would sense sudden altitude changes and deploy. I also would retain the right to deploy it on demand. I will say the system sucked. I had two major crashes. One where the system never deployed. The other deployed but the tightly packed chute was too tight and wouldn't unfold in time. I like the idea of a drogue chute. I think a drogue would have helped my case. I think better yet do a force deploy to yank the chute open. Basically a tethered projectile to yank the chute open. This concept has been around for years with light experimental aircraft that use a mortar charge or a small rocket to pull the chute out quick. In your case maybe use a small tethered CO2 tank. The super small kind used in BB guns. Just an idea.
