This feels like one of those movies that Joey from Friends would star in. I mean the bad acting gives it away. So the way I see it Matt LeBlanc isn't playing Major West, he's playing Joey Tribbiani playing Major West, it makes perfect sense.
The actress who played Jenny (or The Chipmunk as Doug called her) is a young Lacey Chabert, best known for Mean Girls. She is also known as Alue from Balto, Vitani from The Lion King, and Meg from the first season of Family Guy.
If you wanna see something good with Gary Oldman and Matt LeBlanc, go back and watch the season 7 finale of Friends, The One With Monica and Chandler's Wedding, where Gary played Joey's co-star in a World War 1 movie. Side note: That was the first thing I ever saw Gary in. Before I saw that episode, I had no idea who he was.
I recently rewatched the whole Friends series and was shocked Oldman was in it. He's one of my favorite actors and don't ever remember him being on Friends

It was also more appropriate....they were still married but separated. He still wanted to be with her and still considered their relationship to be salvageable, she thought he was living in the past. There's zero need for it here.
Anyone else remember the Lost In Space show? My favorite episode is the one where Dr. Smith was summoned to alien court and the Robinsons convinced the judge that he's not guilty by reason of insanity. Classic.

I feel horrible wanting to giggle over hearing Lacey Chabert talk in an angry manner but her voice is just so distinctive and unique. There's this big dichotomy between her edgy, '90s goth girl look and that high-pitched, squeaky, sweet as cotton candy voice of hers.
yeah, honestly i remember watching this as a kid and conflicted between being annoyed by her, and having a minor crush on her, cognitive dissonce for sure lol
Tell me they make a Hallmark audio card of William Hurt saying "I love you wife." then sighing like Eeyore. Who knew his son would be a bad clone of Jared Harris.

In fact the family vs mission/job theme is something the film looks like it was trying to explore but never stayed focused on these type of story arcs, resulting in film that's inconsistent. my second favorite line in this film next to "I love you wife." is Heather Graham's line "I don't like the sound of that sound."

As a 7-year-old, LIS was the high point of my TV week. (So what if it didn't hold up very well? Try watching a re-run of 'Sky King' or 'Flipper.") The only moment of joy this dog of a movie brought me was hearing Dick Tufeld as the voice of the robot.
He was cast because he was recognizable and from a popular TV show, but he seems like a dufus and wrong for that part. Or maybe that's just from seeing him in Friends it's hard to see him as another character and take him seriously?
My Mom told me she has been binge watching Friends and I've had this review stuck in my head ever since because Joey is in it. Also I loved Gary Oldman as Churchill in Darkest Hour.
*The worst part about the "I love you Wife" line is that the score music is at crescendo which is meant to extract EMOTION and FEELING from the audience* *William Hurt was ( condolences) a very good actor and his wife in this film is Mimi Rodgers yes MIMI RODGERS* *Say what you want but it's MIMI RODGERS and she was in that suit no less. REALLY You have to have if nothing else a little emotion after viewing that* *And if you want to understand watch the Showtime movie Full Body Massage (1995)*

As a 7-year-old, LIS was the high point of my TV week. (So what if it didn't hold up very well? Try watching a re-run of 'Sky King' or 'Flipper.") The only moment of joy this dog of a movie brought me was hearing Dick Tufeld as the voice of the robot.
At 14:28, OMG! Is that Dewey from Malcolm in the Middle?
6:15 You know you're a b**ch when you quote YOURSELF!!!
Spiiiiders
13:18 im sorry but i cant take joey seriously
He was cast because he was recognizable and from a popular TV show, but he seems like a dufus and wrong for that part.
Or maybe that's just from seeing him in Friends it's hard to see him as another character and take him seriously?
0:00
Its that bad eh?
Don't know why I laughed when he said you get no continental breakfast in the robots voice, lol.
"...because LeBlanc hates SPIDERS."
lol The way he said that
Is it bad I had the biggest crush on Penny when I was 7?
Yes
The Nuka-Cola Man Figures.
I too had a huge crush on penny, when I was 5.
Nope. Same here. I was 13 and had a crush on her...but it's okay, she was like 15-16 in the movie, and Lacey Chabert is smoking hot now.
who dident
Fun fact: the girl with the chipmunk voice is Lacey Chabert, aka the voice of Eliza from The Wild Thornberrys.
srbarkerchan And the original voice of Meg Griffin.
She sounds like someone who's about to make a terrible career decision.
Spider Smith is still one of my favorite Critic side characters!
this movies actually pretty good BEFORE they get lost in space
well I guess doctor Smith never got his legion of spiders
Is the daughter the voice of paridot?
From Steven universe
+Asha Titus her name is Lacey Chabert. and no.
oh she sounds just like her
actually no, peridot is Shelby Rabara
Penny is Lacy Chabert- eliza thornberry and gretchen weiners
Is that the cartoon made by pedophiles?
My Mom told me she has been binge watching Friends and I've had this review stuck in my head ever since because Joey is in it.
Also I loved Gary Oldman as Churchill in Darkest Hour.
*The worst part about the "I love you Wife" line is that the score music is at crescendo which is meant to extract EMOTION and FEELING from the audience*
*William Hurt was ( condolences) a very good actor and his wife in this film is Mimi Rodgers yes MIMI RODGERS*
*Say what you want but it's MIMI RODGERS and she was in that suit no less. REALLY You have to have if nothing else a little emotion after viewing that*
*And if you want to understand watch the Showtime movie Full Body Massage (1995)*
i can forgive Pennys voice only because she turned into Lacey Chabert.
I crushed hard on Lacey Chabert in this movie. I never noticed her voice, to be honest.
+kungfuman82 yep and pretty sure the next time i saw her she was Amanda Becker in Not Another Teen Movie
I love Lacey Chabert
She's so fetch
@@kungfuman82 yeah, she is kind of hot especially mean girls
I remember watching this 14 years ago. Keep up the good work.
5:36 Because as every other movie's been drilling into your skull since the 40's, anything that comes from the desert is dangerous and/or evil.
And it's been working rather well too.
The bottle of V05 shampoo 0:37 was so nostalgic for me 👌🏼😅
Thank god for Netflix. Thank you for redeeming Lost in Space from this crappie of a movie.
I actually liked this movie. Although the Netflix show us definitely better.
Murderer!
I enjoyed the movie, but the series looks like garbage.
2:29 "This cold war just got hot"
that has got to be the most 90's thing I've heard all day
This is one of those movies I loved growing up. This is why I like Nostalgia Critic, even though he's making fun of some of my favorite nostalgic movies it still brings back good memories and lets me see them from a different comedic point of view
7:03 The way Hurt turns his head here is kinda creepy.
Critic your spot on about the lame writing and dumb acting but I fucking love the effects in this movie. well the space monkey is trash but....yeah I was 14....EXPLOSIONS!
I remember when I saw that, 'I love you wife' scene as a kid, I was like, 'Huh, that's weird!!'
"Agh! Spida scratched me!"
You were looking for shampoo because…? Also, that scene where the kid hacks a hologram made me die laughing.
So does being a spider mean that you have a really long neck?
SPIIIIIIDERS!!!
oh and that chipette voiced girl is Lacey Chabert aka Eliza Thornberry
at 3:18 I just noticed the movie used the Dell sound effect
