0 for MAF regardless of throttle pos. I use elm327 with an app, reads all values fine, but maf is 0 on 320i e90. No check engine lights but couple of problems: Started on a 2nd attempt when hot after 300km drive. Cold rmp sits at 1k then drops to 700 idle when warm, keeps within 650-850 idle range. Chokes when full throttle at lower rpm. Runs better if throttle is applied gradually. (Electronic throttle shouldn't do that). Acceleration isn't very, good, but done a top speed test and it went all the what up as it should. Uses about 1l/100km more fuel than it should. No CEL or stored codes. If you buy a new MAF...you MUST get a VDO or Seimens brand. Any other cheap knockoff version will give you bad readings. I purchased a replacement MAF sensor from Autozone, yes.... I know better, but I just wanted to try it out. Sure enough, the kg/h was reading 16 at idle. I noticed yours is reading 12.5 or 13kg/h at idle. So my X5 has the 3.0 Litre M54 motor. If you buy a new MAF...you MUST get a VDO or Seimens brand. Any other cheap knockoff version will give you bad readings.
100% agree! I tried a aftermarket MAF that appeared to be good quality, but my car ran much worse the warmer it got, and lean codes. Waste of money. The OEM MAF or VDO part works best although more expensive.
@Arnold Rimmer My new VDO is still running perfectly in my E46 M54 with 256,000Km on it. Fyi for clarity, some MAFs are more sophisticated and cost much more. For example mine has 6 pins and has an integrated Intake Air Temp sensor which is also critical. On later years the sensor was relocated from intake manifold to the MAF unit. Thus my VDO MAF was $480 Canadian but worth it. No codes and fuel trims are great.
