Only 2 home games from September 22nd through December with a London game, West coast game on short week, and 3 straight road games is as tough as it gets.
The way I view the Vikings this year is knocking on the door of greatness. If we look back at each game, even the ugliest, there aren't any horrible systemic problems. It is usually just the details of a play here or a play there that have kept them out of the upper echelon. Not to pick on Nailor, but a few missed catches and a muffed punt. For Darnold, a miscommunication with JJ or trying to do too much in an inopportune moment. Metellus, a bad angle on coverage he normally makes. Just a few recent examples. These are the details, the momentary lapses that keep very good from being great. It's still within their grasp though, and most points of every game they are in control. I believe they'll put it all together and win when it counts. I expect at least a wild card win, beyond then is anyone's game.
Style points ARE being scored...not with fans or analyst, but with KOC's peers. There is something to be said for his method. "A thought" No coach or team desires to get blown out or shamefully embarrassed like a 52-14 loss looks, to Fans, Owners, Analyst or Prospects for many reasons. 1-Team morale and confidence are fundamental metrics for job security from Owner, Locker room Brotherhood and Fan support and positive penmanship from beat Writing Analyst... Coaches of opponents are very "GRATEFUL" if an opposing Coach spares the (his)Team and Staff blowout embarrassment. Most likely an "Unspoken Gratitude" and "Respect" but valued because someday, "Your Team could be on the other side of the Blowout!" 2-It's just smart practice to NOT display team(Viking) Maximum Capabilities, especially on film in a competitive sport. Who knows how that lil knowledge can be used to manipulate those "fragile" metrics mentioned above that have so much bearing on future outcomes. "Best to keep YOUR CARDS close to the Vest sometimes. 3- There's only 1 thing I know WORSE than a "Sore Loser" and that a "Poor Winner" and showing off is, well a "Poor Sportsman" the objective is NOT to HUMILATE... it is a "ONLY A GAME!" All that said, a 2 score victory proves your point in most cases, and especially the way KOC does it can only be respected...like, running plays to kill clock, FG's kicked or punts when you can't expire all remaining time...Defense finishing up, or Victory Formation are the conduct Gentlemanly Conclusions that go well respected... Today's adversary may very well be YOUR TEAMMATE in the near future in today's NFL.
This message seems to sum up KOC's win signature. As a Head Coach, there have been only a few times where the win was more than 2 scores. Most of the time it's just enough to prove the better team on "THAT DAY", only till recently has it seemed to be an issue, fans and reporters pressing him about running the score up on teams has he really shown interest in doing it...Me personally, I don't care...2 scores satisfies my curiosity for which is the better team on"that day!" But then, he is the one that faces these coaches and players on a weekly basis for 4-5months "EVERY" year....I would imagine he has many, many friends in the ranks of coaches and players that he only wishes the BEST in their respective futures... He's just a great guy, I'm sure!
I echo this sentiment wholeheartedly -- I do think KOC is not revealing his full offensive accoutrement on purpose and we will see a much fuller offensive scheme when it is required.
Darnold and Stafford played equally well..are we forgetting a bad INT by Stafford and a dropped TD by Nailor? It was Darnold's highest passer rating of the year.
I think back to Detroit loss, left too much time on clock... 2 point loss, to what is being called "The Greater, Greatest Show on Turf!" I think the Vikings beat the lions head to head next time!
I completely get the point about some Viking fans getting worked up over wins, and it can sometimes seem ridiculous, but you also have to be careful telling people how they should feel about these games. Football is a high emotional investment sport, and the first month of the season gave many fans the idea that perhaps the Vikings were better than they are. I think this is a very well coached and highly motivated football team. This team has some pretty significant shortcomings and KOC, Flores, and staff do a masterful job of working around the deficiencies. I'm not saying they are the Patriots roster with smoke and mirrors, but I am saying VERY few coaching staffs in the league would have this team at 8-2.
The issue is, that we see the Vikings seemingly struggle to play against bad teams and project it to the test of the season. Are the Cardinals, Seahawks, and Packers elite teams? No. But they're several steps ahead of the last three teams. I get worried about if we are going to blow some of those games.
@@mrmayortheiv cardinals already have 4 losses. GB barely beat bears, blocked FG, lucky. Seahawks, 3-0 to start, 5-5 team now. These teams are not contenders.... They will make the 1 and done group.. not the Vikings.
Guys? Not a Kirk lover. But this milestone is due to the Kirk to JJ combo. Hopefully Sam maybe or McCarthy maybe continues. No need to minimize Kirk. Justin will keep rolling - He is special.
Just watching Sam breaking containment and watching Cousins taking sacks as usual. We should be very grateful to Kwesi and Kevin

Plenty of style points for my taste. Ugly games are 3-0 vs the Raiders, this wasn't one of them.

8-2 and they have gotten it done mostly away from US Bank Stadium folks. Should be a fun run.
Great job guys keep up the good work 😊
My vikings are predicted to only win 4 to 6 games this year be happy that we r doing way better than predicted

I'd argue those fans aren't really fans of the game, or at least are wasting their energy when they could be having fun.
i rather win ugly than lose pretty -- some intelligent dude
