If you want to check out a great video where I explain some of the more difficult road signs that you could be asked in the test then please check out this video here --> ruclips.net/video/NFHjMNKquyI/видео.html
After paying €480 for lessons I was quite shocked to be asked these during my test today. Not once did my ADI mention them to me. Thank you for this information for free. At least I'll never forget these for my repeat 🙃
My instructor did a mock test in my second last session, during the test he asked me to do hand signals, I mentioned that we didn't cover those, he smiled, then went on to teach me what they were during the test 😅, but honestly I think we should know them already from the theory test 👍
I got a 2 grade for these today. Passed but could have added up to an overall fail, just shows you need to pay attention to every potential question that can come up! Thanks Dan for all the great videos!
Dane thank you so much. Passed third time lucky with the help of all your videos. I told my driving instructor about you and a lot of people have passed because of you. Thank you ❤
I just passed my driving test on first time🙈..I watch a lot your videos and I feel I need to say big thank you..your videos are really educational, I learn a lot. Also comments from people here are really helpful because I never think somebody past driving test in Ireland for first time. Here are people who did it and I am one of them. Your videos really works and I got much more confident after watching your videos.. thanks a lot you are doing good think. Stay blessed..Ingrid
This is a fantastic channel! I just couldn't get the hand signals right but now after watching this I feel confident with them. Thankyou, wish you was my driving instructor, your very calm and clear. :)
Your videos are super helpful & comprehensive! I’m a very visual person and learn/recall so much better by watching you do the manoeuvres than being verbally told about it! Thanks to these videos I passed my driving test 🥳
Unfortunately, I failed. I got 3 grades on observation. Maybe next time. Was my first one. I think I was to nervous .What centre do you recommend? Because I had my In finglas. I practised a lot there but still I found it very difficult .
Wasn't taught this. When my tester asked (I failed but due different reasons) I didn't know I had to do this and thought he wanted me to show him the hand movement the garda would do for a signal.
Thanks again. The only thing I would do different is use my left hand to show the Garda/Police that I intend to turn left.. as I think it's more convenient + it says we can use either in our highway code. From London, England, UK 🏴
@@DaneTygheletsdrive That must be there. Because it says in our highway code quote: "I want to turn left; use either hand" and the picture is of a Woman holding out her left arm within the car.
@@mekatriona And what if you have a passenger in the front seat? It is exactly like Dane wrote here down. Code. And everyone needs to learn the same way for mutual understanding. If you wouldn't learn a Morse Code the same way as anybody else you know what would happen... Don't you?
Hello, a Garda is a pointsman. They are pretty much the same thing. A pointsman can also be someone who is in charge of directing traffic and they might not be a member of the Police but they could be engaged in roadworks and directing traffic simultaneously. Basically a pointsman is anyone directing traffic.
+evanthetriathleteman They could be used if the signals on your vehicle break down, if you are operating a works vehicle like a ride on or forklift, cycling or on horse back. Unlikely you'd need them but not impossible.
left single to traffic behind is slightly wrong, your right hand needs to be in the vertical position and not flat/horizontal, why? because a driver from behind with his angle of sight might misconstrue that you are giving the slowing down to stop single, anyway dane, your lessons are invaluable to learners and even to most drivers that claim to be experienced, so keep up the good work
@@DaneTygheletsdrive For sure ,look what happened to Maurice McCabe . With a fifty fifty chance of passing the test in the majority of TC's the option of tossing a coin should be considered !
The hand signel for the traffic from behide telling them you want to turn left, looks like your telling them to overtake me, and the hand signal for going straight looks like your given a hand signal to stop. Such a silly system we live in.
Saying traffic if your going to turn left looks like your telling them to overtake me, and telling a garda u want to go straight looks like your telling them to stop, just silly, and cringe every driver instructors knows its odd.
Yeah I mean I think half of these would just confuse people if you used them in real life. They really shouldn't be taking marks off people for this, I've never seen anyone use them ever

Unfortunately, I failed. I got 3 grades on observation. Maybe next time. Was my first one. I think I was to nervous .What centre do you recommend? Because I had my In finglas. I practised a lot there but still I found it very difficult .
It's not really about the centre. Maybe you need more lessons and practice.

0:52, does right hand on the shoulder suffice? That is what my adi thought me, never had to use it for my test as far as I remember.
Should be OK

It's not really a matter of preference, if you want to do it the correct way then you should do it as I demonstrated.

How did you get on with the driving test?
Best teacher
Thank you
Very helpful

Thank you 🙏
Is there a signal for stopping to a garda/pointsman?
Generally you just stop in that case but the other hand signal for slowing or stopping could be a viable option.
thank you
You're very welcome
Is there a wrong or right way to have your fingers ( open or together)?
Never really thought about it but together would probably be best.
@@DaneTygheletsdrive okay thanks. Do you know or familiar with reverse junction turn?
What's a garda or pointsmen? Are they like crossing guards?

I did exactly this and she marked me for them. I truly don’t understand why I was marked on these
thank you ever so much

Is there a hand sign going straight to the traffic behind you? Just wondered.
No
@@DaneTygheletsdrive thank you kindly for your reply! :)
Why do we need these hand gestures when there are indicators ?
What about if your indicators aren't working? What about if you are cycling or on horseback? You need to know and understand these for your own good.
👍
Well Explained
Thanks
When would you have to use them in real life?
+evanthetriathleteman They could be used if the signals on your vehicle break down, if you are operating a works vehicle like a ride on or forklift, cycling or on horse back. Unlikely you'd need them but not impossible.

Only if moving

The whole driving test needs an overhaul, should test people on things like parking and sat navigation driving, not hand signals that no one uses.
