Hey Dane, I've been watching your videos religiously over the last few weeks and just took my test this morning - I passed first time! Thank you for all of your pointers and advice, it really helped! 😄
Hi Dane, I'm Ghil Maano (Filipino) Thank you so much for all the video that you shared, I passed my driving test yesterday in mullhaddart. 😊 Thanks aswell to my Tester in Carlton Hotel.
I just had my first lesson yesterday and when I am stopping my instructor says the best way is to brake a little big first then clutch then brake a bit more as your using the clutch less is that the best way rather than clutch first then brake. I love your videos there so helpful
Hi Dane just wanted to thank you for all your videos they really helped me. I just passed my test today first time and I couldn’t have done it without you videos. So helpful thank you
Hi Dane, today I passed my driving test and I am hugely grateful for your wonderful video lessons and tips. I passed because of your videos. Thank you so much.
Hi, just would like to say thank you for all the free content. You made my life easier, just passed my test today (6 grade 2 - 1st attempt) and your videos made a huge difference to me. I used to drive in Brazil and had a lot of bad habits. Thanks a lot!!
That's wonderful news, congratulations on passing your test, a great achievement for you especially since you're now driving on the left hand side of the road.
Hi Dane, passed my test for the first time in Wilton, Cork today! I really think all of the tips you gave me really helped, I watched so many of your videos leading up to taking my test so thanks so much for making them!
In Washington State and Canada, you need to signal in the direction you move the vehicle whether overtaking, turning, or reversing out of the driveway maybe because the roads are wider.

Hi Dane , i passed my test for the first time today at Castlemungret in limerick . I have been following you for a while and saw all your vedios and they were very informative , well explained and easy to understand, thank you so much . Great work you are doing 👍
I started the advanced with rospa and was told I was using indicators too much. Only use them if there s a reason too half way around a turn /overtaking. I dont like that. I might need to do something else if something comes into view like turn or brake quick. Also not too change down a gear coming to a junction ,just brake. I gave the course up eventualy.
@@DaneTygheletsdrive I have passed the theoretical part of the test because of you I understood many rules. I have the practical now I still be afraid in streets but inShaAllah
Hi, i watched your videos, they are very good. Just want to know that we are turning right there is a box, can we wait in the box or afelter the box. Thanks
With tallaght test centre, it starts in an industrial estate with no central road markings, if crossing the centre point, should I still indicate around parked cars ? Tnx 😅😅
Hiya! I had a new instructor yesterday and he’s told me to keep my indicator on continually while overtaking the parked cars. I have my test today! Please help!
It's not really that straightforward and the driver should be very aware of his surroundings. I remember a case many years ago where there was a car parked on the left across from a petrol station, and a car passing the parked car indicated right to pass. A second car driving in the same direction thought the 1st car was turning into the station so went to pass inside and hit the parked car at speed. Unfortunately the driver of the 2nd car died. In this or similar cases it might be safer not to indicate and let drivers behind figure out for themselves why you are moving out, in my opinion.
Your opinion is wrong, the second car should have behaved differently. That's why I stressed a quick indicator is only required. Just because some drivers act in an unsafe way does not mean that we compromise on Indicator use.
Hi Dane. In an automatic car, is it put the handbrake first then put into neutral or neutral first then handbrake i.e doing a hill start or parking. Thanks
Hi Dane, very informative video! Just a question. What if there is a right turn a bit past the parked car. Do you still indicate right to get by the parked car or would that mislead you’re intending to turn right when you could be going straight?
If a car is parked and you want to move out to overtake it but there’s a junction very close up ahead, should you still indicate or will indicating cause confusion and cause you to lose marks
@@DaneTygheletsdrive awesome thanks! I have my test coming up this week and I’m really excited but scared too cuz I feel like I’m ready but I’m not sure. Any tips for me?
You only use your hazard lights in an emergency, why would you use them to overtake? It's actually not that difficult, if you are crossing the middle of the road then indicate, if you're not then don't.
I currently using a Opel Corsa for my lessons and will be for my test, same as the one you currently have and was wondering if it would be okay to use the short indicator function to indicate around parked cars like this or would you have to use the full indicator?
@@DaneTygheletsdrive It seems I need to always indicate around parked cars if I cross the centre of the road. But my instructor asked not to do so in quiet estates and I did exactly that in my test yesterday!
@@DaneTygheletsdrive Actually worked well. I passed and seems I didn't get any mark for not indicating aeound cars parked in estates. The test was at Finglas on 20 Apr. Your videos are extremely helpful 🙂 🙏
In my opinion your video is wrong. In the Uk people are taught not to indicate to overtake a parked vehicle. It can always be argued about changing lanes but the only reason I can think they say don't indicate is because it should be obvious to any other vehicle that you must move over to go past the parked car. If you were going to turn right immediately after the parked car then you do indicate. I think the rule is there to stop that confusion. The silly thing is in this video says don't indicate left to come back in because there might be a left turn coming up so confusion. Hence that is the very reason you don't indicate right to overtake the parked vehicle because there might be a right turn coming up!

Many thanks👏
Very Informative
Not wrong
At least I'll know that when I learn to Overtake properly. Especially if I ever be on a Duel Carraigway and Motorway?
Great video 🤗
What if there’s a junction right before the parked cars? Wouldn’t the signal be vague?
As usual Dane an excellent video. Agree 💯 with you. A pity some testers aren’t in agreement!!!
Tough at the top though
Any idea on what to do if there is stationary vehicles on both sides of the road???

Yes wait in the box if safe.
Thank you, very useful information ❤
Thanks for the great work 💜

If there's vehicles parked on the left and there are oncoming vehicles and I can get through do I signal?
Yes if crossing the centre of the road, but if there's no one around to benifit from the signal then it's not a big deal if you signal or not.
With tallaght test centre, it starts in an industrial estate with no central road markings, if crossing the centre point, should I still indicate around parked cars ? Tnx 😅😅
Possibly so yes

Hiya! I had a new instructor yesterday and he’s told me to keep my indicator on continually while overtaking the parked cars. I have my test today! Please help!
While overtaking, can we drive on dotted lines?
Hi Dane, would you have to signal when you are driving on a two-way street without any lane markings? like a residential street
What of a scenario where Cars are parked on both sides and there's a broken white line between, do we still indicate? If so for how long? Thanks
Yes indicate until you are level with the first parked car
Hi Dane,
If there is a sceanario where a parked car or bus is pulled in opposite a solid white line. What is the plan of action?
Overtake

Usually handbrake first and then park if parking.
Hi Dane..pls can you suggest if i can overtake a bus dropping passengers if there is broken white line n no traffic is coming from other side?
Hi Dane, very informative video! Just a question. What if there is a right turn a bit past the parked car. Do you still indicate right to get by the parked car or would that mislead you’re intending to turn right when you could be going straight?
As long as you turn it off when level with the first parked car that should be fine.
Would this still be the case for say a residential area with cars either side with or without center markings?
Yes
If a car is parked and you want to move out to overtake it but there’s a junction very close up ahead, should you still indicate or will indicating cause confusion and cause you to lose marks
Quick indicator should be fine

How should I indicate if cars are parked on both sides ? Can I use the hazard light
You only use your hazard lights in an emergency, why would you use them to overtake? It's actually not that difficult, if you are crossing the middle of the road then indicate, if you're not then don't.
When overtaking do you have to occupy the other lane? Or is the 1 meter distance enough?
depends how big the road is
Yes you need to indicate because sometimes you get idiots trying to overtake you when your overtaking
Yeah and it's no harm to highlight your presence
I currently using a Opel Corsa for my lessons and will be for my test, same as the one you currently have and was wondering if it would be okay to use the short indicator function to indicate around parked cars like this or would you have to use the full indicator?
The short indicator is fine if you are not waiting behind the parked car, it'll depend on the situation.
Hey Dave, do you need to check you blindspot when overtaking a parked car?
No, just mirrors usually
Hi! Just want to ask, if there are two to three cars parked in a row, when will i turn off my signal? Thanks a lot
I already explained that in the video, once you are level with the first car
If I indicate to overtake a bus/cyclist, is it the same?
Same as I explained in the video
Hello Dane, if we are driving in a housing estate at 30km/h, should I indicate around parked cars there? Thanks!

there is a small mistake in the video while overtaking only keep a door width length.
