Don’t even need the credit card, yes it makes it a little easier but shop through the shopping portal, rewards dining, rental cars, hotels, electric and gas bill through NRG.

@@MaxMilesPoints i have a follow up question. So I was holding off by applying to this just because, after 3 months of spend and by the time they approve it. You'll only get like 7-9 months of companion pass right? Is that worth at that point? What are your thoughts?

I have been my husband's AU for two years, does AU qualify to apply? I've been denied by Chase twice in the last 12 month for applying SW visa. And not quiet sure why. Only have 3 Chase CC and 800+ CS. Thank you for the video!
To get The companion pass you have to spend 4,000 or you have the companion pass when you get the card ?
Do I qualify if I had an account but it’s been closed for years. It still shows up on my Chase portal, but shows up as closed?
Am I interpreting this correctly - I just applied for the Priority which gives Companion Pass until Feb 2025. Do I have to apply for the Business Intro in 2024 and get those points by end of this year. Or can I apply near end of 2024 and finish the spend in 2025? Do points earned roll over to next calendar year or it has to be from within the same year?
Hi :) I just applied for the business card last week and, was planning to get a personal card in 30 days. Was planning to earn a pass this year. so I can have one that will last from this year to the end of 2025. In this situation would I be able to some how. get the promotional pass that ends feb 2025 and then have the regular companion pass that will go from. feb 2025 to dec 2026?
So if I were to get a biz class my companion gets to fly for free ?
Chase is a travel partner with SW too right? So I could use my chase points to buy the first ticket, and then companion pass to cover my second ticket?

how do you get the companion pass in year two with the business card? the SUB from the second card gets you there? Is there any strategy on when exactly to finish the SUB for the business card?
I know the play before was to get the business card in Oct/Nov and the Priority card in Nov/Dec and time it so you get the SUBs in January. I was going to do that, but I just jumped on this offer, so I want to make sure I don't miss out on a 2025 companion pass.
You need 135k Southwest companion qualifying points in one year.
If you get the offer mentioned in the video you’ll get 30k Southwest companion pass qualifying points.
If you get the business card sometime in 2024 that’ll earn you 80k companion pass qualifying points
When you have a Southwest credit card they give you 10k companion pass qualifying points boost each year
30k+80k+10k = 120k
That puts you at 120k Southwest companion pass qualifying points.
You need to earn an additional 15k companion pass qualifying points in 2024 and that’ll get you companion pass for the rest of 2024 and all of 2025.
What qualifies as “received a bonus on a SW personal card”? Like an opening welcome bonus, anniversary bonus points, both? Thanks!

Correct, as long as you earn 135k Companion pass qual points in a year you'll earn traditional companion pass with no issues

At the end of the video you mention opening a business card to extend the CP through 2025 but I think you’d be short of points still wouldn’t you?
Correct you’ll be around 6k companion pass qualifying points short when all said and done , so really really close

In my experience with other cards, you have to wait about a week for the account to close, sometimes as few as three days. Then you can apply and get the bonus, assuming you haven't received a SW bonus in the last 24 months.
Do you have to designate the companion that you’ll be traveling with for the entire year or can you use the companion pass for different people?
You can change your southwest companion up to 3 times a year!

So to get the priority + business, you would need to be 3/24?
4/24 at a minimum. Apply for business card first, then apply for personal card. Business cards are subject to 5/24 when applying but does not count towards 5/24 when approved.
Would it be possible to cancel / downgrade one of these cards to a no annual fee card before the second year’s fee is applied?
All SW personal cards have annual fees and so there is no downgrade path to a no-annual fee card. So your best option is to cancel when the annual fee hits next year if you do not want to keep the card.
The answer above is correct, there is no no annual feel downgrade path unfortunately.
If you buy a southwest first class trip you get the second one for free with the companion pass?
Southwest doesn’t have first class, but essentially yes, buy any Southwest ticket and get the second companion ticket free of airline charges just pay taxes and fees
I’ve had my current SW card for over 5 yrs, can i cancel & reapply to qualify for new bonus?
Yes that is possible! Just have to meet the two conditions for the bonus offer and that’s 1. Not be a current SW cardholder and 2. It’s been more than 24 months from when you got a SW card bonus last.

No personal/consumer cards only

1-2 weeks would be my recommendation to be on the safe side

Yup! As long as you qualify for the credit card bonus offer you can get it again. Make sure you read the bonus offer terms

Will your recommendation actually work? The points on this one is just 30k. If you get the business card later on, the welcome points on that I think will not be sufficient to meet the companion pass requirement that is 135k. Also, if you spend your way to get to 135k, will it actually stack???

10k from Southwest yearly companion pass qualifying points boost
9k minimum from hitting minimum spend requirement from both cards
So that’s 129k Southwest companion pass qualifying points. You just need to make up the additional 6k points on your own and that’ll get you companion pass for the remainder or 2024 and all of 2025
So yes! It’ll stack it’ll get you really really close to the 135k mark

@@MaxMilesPoints So I've been thinking, hitting the 135k within the same year kinda invalidates this bonus (as you would've gotten the CP anyway). However, it may be feasible to hit the 135k in the following year, effectively giving you CP for 3 years total. Do you know if this is doable? Getting 2 business cards maybe? Or will I need to cancel the personal card, wait, then get the bonus on a year further out?
@@IonicTechYT Not possible to get 2 business cards. You need to wait 24 months in between business card bonuses and you can't be a current cardholder. Same thing applies to the personal card as well. So getting CP for three years total is not possible. To really maximize earning SW companion pass for nearly 23 month-ish you need to get both the Business and Personal welcome offer early in the year so you can get companion pass for the remainder of the year and the following 12 months.That means getting both the business and personal card in December or November 2024 and earning both welcome bonuses in 2025 and that's really the maximum. Not possible to get more than 24 months of companion pass through credit cards.
If you get both the current welcome offer and a business card later in 2024 you'll get around 21 - ish months of southwest companion pass. Hope that makes sense. My credit card links are on my website if you do decide to apply and want to support my work

You'll need to wait for the physical card, once approved you can call them to get it expedited.

It seems that canceling the card will make you eligible so long as you haven’t received a bonus offer from SW in the last 24 months 🤷🏽♀️

So what happens if I apply for the current SW Chase personal card offer and get the companion pass until Feb 2025 and apply for a business card next year and with that sign up bonus and points from my personal card this year, aka combined bonus from two credit cards, do you think I'll be still eligible for companion pass next year even if I get the promotion this year??
@@tequilalover you need 135k sw Companion pass qualifying points in one calendar year. So sure you can get the biz card in 2025 but just know that you’ll start January 1st with 0 sw companion pass qualifying points and you’ll get a 10k boost for being a sw cardholder but then you need to work your way from 10k to 135k to earn companion pass again. I wouldn’t recommend that strategy
