Nice workflow
I had brake for about month form using C1 and after coming back I had to learn again how file organization works. And when I want to make some changes in my work flow, changing the folder naming, it a mess.
Great new facility with the "Cull" tool. Thanks
Thanks!
@@CaptureOne I am trialing the latest version of CO and the cull function makes no sense to me at all, it just does what I can already do in the library module, and on top of that it appears in a window over the top which is annoying. Surely Library management and culling should be a module/persona on its own like every other photo editing application out there?
Would it be a good thing to create your various groups such as street photography, portrait, and client work on the hard drive first and then import that structure with the photos in the applicable folder? Is that ideal if you starting from scratch?
why do they make this sooo complicated and absolutely not intuitive. I do not want to "import" anything. I just want to "edit" photo's from a certain location. Here it says "add to catalog" but that option is not available in my Capture One 22. I says "selected folder", "session folder" "recording folder". None of these three make sense to me. Why is there no option "keep them where they are"
I’ve been watching multiple videos to understand catalog, session, albums, etc etc and I’m still confused 😐

Hi, thanks for the tutorial. Is there any shortcut to give stars or colors / flags to a picture ? I find the process of having to click separately on each picture takes tons of time when having to do my selections (compared to Lightroom). Thanks for the help
Hi Margaux,
the default shortcuts for star ratings: from 1 to 5.
In order to check the Color tags, go to shortcuts menu -> Adjustments -> Color tag.
Hi. I am trying to edit JPG in C1 but for some reason is not letting me. Could you please advise me what to do?
Is there any advantage to using color/star to mark good ones and then filtering to choose them to import as opposed to just using the checkmark on good ones?
Yes, there are. As the checkmarks only decide what gets imported, tagging and rating provides another layer of culling and selecting. It could for example be used to identify the absolute best images already during the import process.
awe some tutorial
Unfortunately Capture one is not able to delete photos physically from Mac Mini. I imported photos from my Harddisk to a catalog. E.g. don’t want to keep als photos in the catalog and most of all not on my disc bebaust each RAW file occupies 60MB each. Is there any specific setting that needs to be set to do this ? And this happens also if i use the „remove from disk“ (i think it‘s named so) option.
Hi Hannes,
Have you tried emptying the Trash folder in the catalog? If yes and this issue still persists, please reach out to our support here captureone.co/support and they'll be able to assist you.
I am just begining with Capture One. Is it ok if I just use the "Folder" section to view & edit my photos, instead of making a "catalog" ? I see redundant the use of Catalog AND Folders. I have a very well classified folders structure in my hdd, and want to begin with Capture One. Thanks!
Hi!
I would recommend you use sessions.
Sessions act as folder viewers. You can create a session and simply navigate to your folders in the Library tool - no import required.
are you going to do a tutorial on "Change Capture Time". This would be very useful to me but not much info about this new functionality. Thanks.
I don't think it is in the pipeline, but I have forwarded your request.
Thanks for your input!
Hi, thanks for the tutorial video. A quipk question, I have made already a session, i imported photos. The next day i imported with the same way in this session photos from another folder and capture one replaced the previous photos with the new. How can i fix this?
Hi George, if you import images to the Capture folder of the same session, this is not the way the software should behave. Kindly, send a screen recording of the issue to our support team at support.captureone.com, so they can check what's happening on your end.
Hi, Sir: Thank you teaching and illustrating . I noticed that you created the new catalog " My Catalog' is under the Capture One Catalogs, what is the advantage of it? Could we create the new catalog parallel the Capture One Catalogs ? What is the disadvantage of that? Thank you for help.
second downer, why is there no lens profil for the Sony 70-350mm (apsc lens / SEL70350G)? so far, so bad 🙈
I suggest that you create a lens support request here captureone.co/support. This way our developers will be able to see how requested this is.
All of this was working beautifully for me, especially the new culling, and now suddenly I can’t import anything directly into C1 23!! I have tried numerous cards and card readers and nothing. It shows the photos, I click on the ones I want imported or I even tried not culling and just importing all. I click on import all images and NOTHING! I am on a laptop Windows 11 with C1 23 pro. Please advise?! I also sent a request to C1! PS I am using sessions
Hi Laurie,
This indeed sounds weird. Thank you for reporting this to our support. They will have a better understanding of how to help you, and I'm sure you'll be assisted soon.
@@CaptureOne I truly hope so! Now it will not import anything from any card unless it’s just one or two images. 😳
New user here. I use a Macbook, an iPad and an iMac. Not sure how keeping everything in sync will work. Is there an article on how to create the catalog, folders, sessions in a correct way so that everything will work seamlessly on all theses machines? Thanks in advance for any help.
Hi, full sync option is not yet available. You can vote for the similar feature and follow the post on our official forum to be updated in case of its implementation. Check it out here: support.captureone.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/11864449378717-Work-with-2-mobile-devices
Currently, you can use Cloud Transfer to send your images from iPad to desktop app: support.captureone.com/hc/en-us/articles/5646097370397-Manage-Images-iPad-
If you need more info on how to create Catalog/Sessions, move them from one computer to another, you can check our guides in Capture One Help Center or reach out to support team at support.captureone.com.
Thank you!@@CaptureOne
What to do, if while importing, capture one starts to loading photos from some old location, and when I am trying to choose another one, the capture one froze?
Hi Wojciech,
I'm sorry to hear you've been experiencing this issue. Our technical support will have to look further into this - please reach out to them here captureone.co/support. If you can include a screen recording that would be great.
That clicking sound is Triggering me!
Is it possible to import photos from the camera?
Hi Jeem. Yes it is. But you might find your camera is set up to tether. You should find in the settings to change from a connection to a storage device.
Why on Capture One don't have Tethered, Profile Support, and Lens Profiles for Panasonic DC-S1R?
Hi Paul,
This camera is supported starting from Capture One 12.0.3: support.captureone.com/hc/en-us/articles/360002718118-Camera-models-and-RAW-files-supported-by-Capture-One#h_ceed14ae-dd9b-4837-8ad0-d322dabf8739
If you have any issues, please reach out to support at: captureone.co/support
@@CaptureOne Hello! You say that this camera is supported, but in this link to Panasonic S1R Version 12.0.3, it says Tethered Support-No/No and Notes-None. In Lens profiles, you have Micro Four Thirds lenses displayed, but no Full-Frame lenses for L-Mount.
So in Capture One Pro 23, there is no support for Tethered and L-Mount lenses from Panasonic?
My bad. Missed the point, we were talking exactly about tethering. Kindly share your request at captureone.co/featurerequest so that our R&D department can gather the statistics needed for support implementation.
@@CaptureOne I look forward to receiving support for Lumix S1R as you provide for other brands. Thank you!
I dont have the "pick all" button? what can I do? Now I have to mark all the 300 photo by mouse, yeah 😑
Hi Micha,
Please turn off Group Overview. When that is unticked, the 'Pick all' option appears next to the two buttons in the bottom-right corner.
@@CaptureOne thx its working now :) but i think it should be available in both ways
Hello i am new to capture one, and i cant find/show my photos after import.
Hi, in order to help we'd need to see the whole import procedure. Please send us a screen-recording of the steps you take here: captureone.co/support
I'm sold. Im tired of Lightroom..
Why can we only have 10 folders per catalog?
Hi Staeske - there is no limit per catalog.
Hi, there is no limit on the amount of folders you can have per catalog. If you're experiencing issues, please reach out to our support here captureone.co/support
first
I think I need more explanations …. I can’t understand the whole workflow
Hi Giovanni,
Feel free to ask us clarification questions and we will do our best to help you!
Guides on how to work with Catalogs can be found here support.captureone.com/hc/en-us/sections/360000668917-Catalogs, and with sessions, here support.captureone.com/hc/en-us/sections/360000869837-Sessions
I tried C1 in 2021, and now in 2024, and C1 is definitely not for me. Everything I've tried is counterintuitive and unnecessarily complicated: rotate an image in any editor and in C1 and you'll understand what I'm saying. Try canceling the plan: In Account there is "Plans & Services - Management", but the cancellation has to be done in "Order History - View". I understand that the problem is not the software, but the company's mentality, which is incompatible with mine.
This is absolutely anti-intuitive. I have thousand of photographs, in external disks, oredered by year-month-date and a tittle letting me know what's in that folder. I tried to make a Catalog, it duplicated all my photos in a new catalog, ( I had none before) and now I wanted to make another catalog, as I don't want the files moved from where they are, and I can't, a lot of different stuff created in my disk, and nothing was shown later in the screen. I don't want to move anything, I just want to look at the photos, delete the ones I don't use, edit the ones that are for that purpose! THIS is way too messy for me, I have been a customer for years. I think I will finally ditch this editing program.
Hi Dals,
Sorry to hear you are frustrated. Let's try and help.
It's worth mentioning that importing into Capture One no files are ever moved. It sounds like that when you importing you had chosen "Copy Into Catalog" instead of "Add to Catalog".
Choosing Add to Catalog will absolutely leave them where they are and represent your Year-month-date structure in the folders tool.
@@CaptureOne Thank you for your kind answer. Still, as for what you mentioned, import is necessary. Why can't we have something like DxO or On1, or Bridge? Is that too complicated? On the other hand, I have more than 10.000 photos, a catalog can grow so huge! So, what if I make a small catalog, lets take as an example: Mars, 20, 2022, but then I want to add another day to check , compare, or edit, should I build another catalog for the specific date? Or add it as a session? I insist, it's confusing... I will welcome the anwer! Thank you!.
@@DalsPhotography If you wish to just "browse" you hard drives then it is possible to do that. 1. Make a new Session, call it Browsing Session, Utility Session, doesn't really matter. 2. Go to the Library Tab 3. Browse anywhere you like in system folders.
10,000 is actually pretty small for a catalog. I wouldn't worry about having larger catalogs than that.
Why is the audio with most these Capture One tutorials so awful. I find it really annoying to listen to. It is very particular to Capture One You Tube videos as I do not have the issue with any others. If rated I would give the quality .5 out of 5.
