This speaker comparison is one of the best ive ever seen….heard. Different styles of music and the time stamps, its almost like listening to the speakers in a store, if you have good headphones. You can hear the difference clearly. Good job! 👍
I've just put an aftermarket headunit and speakers in my car, I wish I had come across him before. The only thing I would've liked him to do is to explain what was happening to each speaker. Now I'm going to see if he's got a vid on the difference between under $200 and over $500 speakers, to see if the price difference is worth it.
@@clickonmike I compared the Pio's to the $450 Focal and Morel lines, they really held their own. So much so, I bought the comps for the front and the coaxial set for the rear!

Great video amongst a sea of you tube nonsense. The focals are like a body builder that doesnt do legs. The upper looks superb, but the bottom half is puny. Pioneer had the most dynamic sound of the group. These are important differences when you introduce them into a door, which typically have suboptimal acoustics compared to an enclosed box. JBL also dynamic but you could hear a tinge of distortion creeping in. Kickers sounded worst. The pioneer line is actually very good at all price points below 500 dollars, be it component or three way. Z-Series TS-Z65CH 6-1/2 component set up is best at its price point. Some could argue Infinity Kappa components, but it comes down to personal preference. Kappas are 3 ohm, pioneers are 4 ohm, the latter being the safer option if you are using factory amp that came with your auto.

Thanks for the comment and the suggestions. Yeah, people hear differently and what we experience in the store when demoing speakers is the same response we are getting in the comments. To answer some of your questions, the co-ax and components in the same series from the same company will sound similar. They are normally made from the same materials and a lot of times the only difference is the components that come with crossovers. I'm with you on the round speakers vs say 6x9 or 5x7. Round speakers are better because of the physics aspect you mentioned. The main reason there are many 6x9 components on the market is that a lot of the new cars, especially full-size trucks have 6x9 in the doors. It's on my radar to do a set of videos that compare different levels of speakers and amps, it's just it takes soooo much time to do these videos. This video takes over a week to write, film, set up the demo room, edit for me and our Video editor Sal. In all of the sound demos I have listened to in these videos, I am torn between the Memphis and Focals more than any of the others. I wonder how good either brand would sound in a 07 honda crv
@@xenolithhh Really good for the price....! We did the front doors, but just used the Alpines we had in the rear deck. You can hear the difference when you fade it back and front... They have a 93db sensitivity so they sound real good off just the head unit.

Each speaker had at least one place they shined. I would say I like the fullness of the Pioneer and it sounded the most balanced across all the songs, with smooth highs. Imho, I think the highs might suffer with a good sub added. The focal sounded very crisp, but was a little harsh on the vocals. It might balance out well with a sub. The Blam seemed like a good middle point between those ones. All that said, I would wager all 3 would sound spectacular with a sub and a good tune.
Those pioneers sound nice. An then memphis. Focal sound a little tiny...fosgate sound dull. The rest just sound flat.an need eq to get the best out of em...I'm partial to memphis doe have a set on mclass 5x7 I been running for years that sound great with no eq just flat.
Can you tell men what are your opinions about the Polk Audio DB652 and DB6502. I bought those two snd haven’t installed un my crv but i want to know if i should buy another set for the price.
From what I'm hearing I prefer the sound of the Rockford fosgate and the JBL. Giving me the clear and detailed highs from those tweeters without being harsh and piercing to the ear. The woofers are deep and responsive mids and they manage to not drawn-out the high nor get muddy. With the JBL being just a brighter than the Rockford fosgate. Both of thes speakers sound good through my headphones i cant wait to demo these in person
At last someone who also rated the R.F's. My favourite choice albeit that they didn't handle the first piece of music well in my opinion. It was the clarity and the fact that the sound they produced was as near to hearing the music live that got me.
I am looking at upgrading the 6.5 ceiling speakers in the motorhome I just bought, and I am wondering what considerations I should keep in mind when I choose the equipment for that space. Also, if you have mounted an amp to play off of the driver's head unit, where did you put it?
To me, there's a clear winner, with 2nd and 3rd trading blows, and respectable showings from 4th and 5th "place". 1. RF - Everything that came from these sounded natural and exciting, but not forced or pitchy. If I were in the market for 6.5"s, I'd not hesitate to buy a set of these.... And yet, seems like others aren't as fond of them in the comments. Like, are you only listening for the bass, cuz that's the only thing I can hear these "lacking" on. And why I have subwoofers. 2a: Memphis 2b: JBL - As stated before, they trade blows. Just when one seems to excel in a range more-so than the other, they flip status in the next segment. If price was a concern, I'd save the $30 with the JBL's though. 4th: BLAM - Having the lowest impedance of the bunch and all else being equal, the potential to have been easily the loudest was thiers for the taking. That said, doing so had the drawback of making the sound harsh and unrefined. With some tuning and gain leveling, this could be fixed (and it's typically better to have too much and dial back than not have enough to being with), which then would leave them the potential to sound as good as those above. 5th: Kicker - If the BLAMs had been 4ohm speakers, you'd get the Kickers over them. Or if your amp would've blown them at a 2ohm load. Underachiever: Focal - There's a stigma about Focal speakers (partially due to thier pricing schemes) that you should expect to be "wow"-ed by them. The fact that 2 relative newcomers and a brand not known for thier SQ just curb-stomped Focal in this comparison was the only thing that made me say "wow" here. Overpriced: Pioneer. - Not gonna dump on them, as I've owned multiple Pioneer speakers in the past and loved them, but these I would not purchase unless they were the least expensive of the bunch, not the most. Conclusion: Rather surprised by how I've ranked these. Wouldn't have believed the outcomes had I not heard them myself.
Hands down Polk Model DB+ Marine Quality 6.5 inch($100 pair 100W RMS) and 5.25 inch ($80 pair 80W RMS) 2 way coaxial speakers are some of the best speakers you can put in your car regardless of price. They come with 3 different types of installation rings so easy fit for any vehicle or boat. Plus, they simply Rock! If you feel the need to spend more Savard 6,5 inch Component speakers ($130 pair 60W RMS) Rock too! Then JBL and Rockford Fosgate. After that, I don't much care cause what I have are rock solid performing speakers that won't disappoint, nor break the bank. Turn it up people! lol :)
Do you know if the pioneers will fit in my car.. I have a 2009 4 door Toyota corolla.. I already have aftermarket speakers, A pair of 6.5 Kicker speakers that are in the front. One of the speakers blew. So I'm going for the pioneers this time.
Man I was about to buy Focal but JBL caught me of guard. May to rethink it now between JBL & Pioneer. My big system I’m running Deaf Bounce and Sundown. I used to run Hybrid Audio. So I would love to hear a Infinity Kappa test.
I'm new to this channel it's informative and awesome presentation. But every time I see "breakers" combined with your energy I have to ask...Back in the day did you break? This is a real question
Okay you got me. I'm officially into BLAM. Going to try and get some from your site soon. Just curious, I'd like to get a BLAM sub as well but can't find anything online. Do you have them or will you be getting them any time soon? Absolutely love the content man. Keep it up!.
What are the best 6x9 and 6.5 in speakers I can get for under 150 a pair that would work well with the Sony XMS400D? If anyone has knowledge I’d greatly appreciate it I’m not looking for speakers with well rounded sound and a nice tweeter that doesn’t over shine. Any help I’d appreciate thank you!
I have a question I currently have a component set of the kicker CS and I would like to replace the tweeter with the kicker KS tweeter. Is it possible for me to not run into any issues in terms of final impedance to the amplifier.
Dear, I have a Volkswagen Polo aw (2018) and have installed the composet for vw in the front doors. Which of these do you recommend for the rear doors without an amp? Ps: i am an bass/hiphop lover 😄
I’m really a JL audio Rockford head but not gonna lie I think the pioneer sound the best here and I think I’m going to buy them and take my JL ZR’s out and sell them .
Man, that second song really threw in a curveball. The Blam sounded so good with vocals, but the midbass buzzing was awful. It's the ONLY song the Kicker shined on. That Pioneer is really surprising. And the Memphis sounds great, but too bright up top for me. With a -6db drop, they might be perfect
Could anyone tell me, please...the first song, what is the song title and who's the singer or band? To my ears and also my music preference, these would be: 1. Blam &/or Pioneer 2. JBL &/or Memphis 3. Focal Kicker & Rockford not that musical, sound dull in opposite way with each brand funnily enough....
Really wish you would talk about the crossover on these speakers. In particular the ones that have true 2 way crossovers (inductor for woofer and cap for tweeter). Also all these speakers are between 100 n 200usd. None under 100usd. To me best coax under 100 are alpine s-s65 and polk db652
for everyone picking pioneer, did no one hear the vibrations on the second song? i heard it from that one and the blam speaker. i just dont see it, ill take the Memphis over pioneer on this one.
Breaker Stereo and Performance, I'm looking to replace my JBL GTO629 6.5 coaxials in the rear doors of my Toyota 4Runner. (60 watts RMS) I currently have all 4 of my speakers powered by a JL Audio RD400/4. 95% of the time the rear doors are only used as fillers, as I have a set of Pioneer 6x9 D Series components in the front. What I'm looking for is a pair of speakers that can get ridiculously loud when we go to the beach. I open the rear doors and play my music only thru those 2 speakers and my 2 JL Audio W3's. Not looking for any SQ or bass, just pure loudness without distortion. Thanks in advance.
If you want something ridiculously loud look at Pro audio speakers. Something like diamond audio or Ground Zero. Now the only problem with that is the magnets on those are extremely large and you will more than likely have to modify your rear doors to get them in there. Another thing to consider is those things are a bit harsh but project music very far. So when you’re at the beach and you pop your doors open they will sound loud and clean especially from a distance. But the problem you may have is when you are riding around in your car they may be overbearing and a little bit too bright. You have to listen to them first before you purchase. I would suggest that you go to your local car stereo shop and see if they have any pro audio speakers on display. We sell pro audio speakers usually and a motorcycle or utv application and they work great. But if you don’t want to go that route or decide that that will not work for you then consider the Memphis speakers that are in this video. These speakers handle a good amount of power are loud and will carry out further… in my opinion. I’ve used these on motorcycles and they work well. Ok Hope that helps
Hello Sir I'm new to your channel. I just want to ask for advice. I've got 4th gen Camaro with blown speakers (typical issue in Fbody). I've got factory Monsoon system so Blam with their 2Ohm impedance will be a perfect match and they're easy to get in Europe. I was thinking about Relax Series, but Blam doesn't sell their 165mm/6.5" woofers alone which should fit behind sail panel. Should I buy two sets of Blam 165RS/RX or i can fit Blam 210mm R8EL Woofer without hacking stock mounting point and sail panel itself? In theory I could fit 165RC speaker but twitter in this particular speaker wouldn't work with monsoon amplifier in this location as this channel is only dedicated to Woofers.
My fav believe or not was pioneer. I also liked Memphis, these were the most versatile in music types. The focal impressed me on the first track but its yet accurate bass was overpowering. On any EQ and CO all these can be made to sound as desired but there were a few that had their cones that showed residual vibrations and kinda lost its shape through deflection.

Yeah I was surprised. Especially with thus line up
I was hoping that you'd switch the focal tweeters between flat and high so we could hear the difference.
In all of the sound demos I have listened to in these videos, I am torn between the Memphis and Focals more than any of the others. I wonder how good either brand would sound in a 07 honda crv
on the second song focal did outstanding
I'd like to mention that the Jl Audio C1 650 series coaxials are awesome for the money
Getting ready to put 2 pair in a Volvo s60, Components in the front doors and coax in the rear deck.
Hoping for a really clean sound.
@@2869may how are they
@@xenolithhh Really good for the price....!
We did the front doors, but just used the Alpines we had in the rear deck. You can hear the difference when you fade it back and front... They have a 93db sensitivity so they sound real good off just the head unit.
@@2869may Jl Audio C1 650 right? i have a 2019 hyundai accent with a standard radio and only 4 door speakers, they suck and i want to upgrade them asap. stock speakers are missing a lot of detail in my opinion, i just want something that has good sound quality with stock head unit, doesnt have to be loud
@@xenolithhh Yes, C1 650's... I think you will be pleased with these speakers. Like I said 93 sensitivity, so the do well without an amp.
Need help in picking a component from below options
Audison APK 165
Polk Audio DB6502
JL audio C1
Steg Leo 650
Morel maximo ultra
@ 13:42 Are the Blams buzzing here? I know its on the Pioneer sample (so in the song), but seems like its making the Blams buzz.
I heard buzzing too.
I was listening with a pair of Sennheiser HD 650s with an external DAC and AMP.
Josh!!! Another great video! I’m looking to upgrade a 2021 Bronco and the 6.5’s are gonna carry the weight of my closed-n sound (tops on /doors on).
Ok I like those pioneers the best what 6x9’s would you recommend to go with those? I’m run them without a amp at first with Sony ax6000 receiver
The website in the link is soo broken cant even use the option to look up speakers for my dedicated vehicle
Thanks for your comment I heard them the same way you did.
Can you tell men what are your opinions about the Polk Audio DB652 and DB6502.
I bought those two snd haven’t installed un my crv but i want to know if i should buy another set for the price.
I really appreciate this video comparison, the Memphis speakers sound best to my ears
1. RF
- Everything that came from these sounded natural and exciting, but not forced or pitchy. If I were in the market for 6.5"s, I'd not hesitate to buy a set of these.... And yet, seems like others aren't as fond of them in the comments. Like, are you only listening for the bass, cuz that's the only thing I can hear these "lacking" on. And why I have subwoofers.
2a: Memphis
2b: JBL
- As stated before, they trade blows. Just when one seems to excel in a range more-so than the other, they flip status in the next segment. If price was a concern, I'd save the $30 with the JBL's though.
4th: BLAM
- Having the lowest impedance of the bunch and all else being equal, the potential to have been easily the loudest was thiers for the taking. That said, doing so had the drawback of making the sound harsh and unrefined. With some tuning and gain leveling, this could be fixed (and it's typically better to have too much and dial back than not have enough to being with), which then would leave them the potential to sound as good as those above.
5th: Kicker
- If the BLAMs had been 4ohm speakers, you'd get the Kickers over them. Or if your amp would've blown them at a 2ohm load.
Underachiever: Focal
- There's a stigma about Focal speakers (partially due to thier pricing schemes) that you should expect to be "wow"-ed by them.
Turn it up people! lol :)
Low in the doors, Rockford will probably image best, and ultimately sound best.
I believe they sounded the best I can't believe no one else heard the same?
@@jerryees I did, 😂I just bought a Pair of RF
Great highs, but very dull midrange
@@jerryeesthis. And those blams got a lot of love in the comments. The second song was distorted!
They sound muddy as hell. Can't speak to the imaging, but overall frequency reproduction in pretty bad, comparatively.
DLS four ever beautiful speakers
Ts-z65ch pioneer speakers are the nicest sounding speakers especially when they are on sale.
Do you know if the pioneers will fit in my car.. I have a 2009 4 door Toyota corolla.. I already have aftermarket speakers, A pair of 6.5 Kicker speakers that are in the front. One of the speakers blew. So I'm going for the pioneers this time.
@latashacarter3286 Yes they fit.
Man I was about to buy Focal but JBL caught me of guard. May to rethink it now between JBL & Pioneer.
My big system I’m running Deaf Bounce and Sundown. I used to run Hybrid Audio. So I would love to hear a Infinity Kappa test.
Thanks for the comment!
Funny thing the speaker you pick here Will get turned down in the car after 10 minutes wishing you picked something more like the focal 😎
In this order for me best to less
Blam
Pioneer
Jbl
Memphis
Focal
Kicker
Rockford
so if im just running a aftermarket head unit which one should be the best
How does the newer JBL Club 64SQ compare to the Club 625SQ? Looks to be a newer model but is it actually improved?
Without EQ adjustment, pioneer, and JBL, are probably the cleanest respectively. They're all good, but the blam had the most distortion noticed.
What's better, JBL or Pioneer
@latashacarter3286 it's really down to personal preference. Both are respectful companies, and both have quality products they offer.
Guess we do all have different taste and hearing lol. I liked the Focals, Blams and Kicker the most. Listened with Sennheiser PXC550 headphones
I’m liking the kicker the most
Same I like the Focals the best fallowed by Memphis next
Can we get a best 6x9 and a best 4" two way
The pioneer and the Rockford Fosgate for me
I'm new to this channel it's informative and awesome presentation.
I have a question
I currently have a component set of the kicker CS and I would like to replace the tweeter with the kicker KS tweeter. Is it possible for me to not run into any issues in terms of final impedance to the amplifier.
Dear,
I have a Volkswagen Polo aw (2018) and have installed the composet for vw in the front doors. Which of these do you recommend for the rear doors without an amp?
Ps: i am an bass/hiphop lover 😄
1.Pioneer
2.JBL
3.Memphis
4.Rockford Fosgate
5.Kicker
6.Blam
7.Focal
Thanks for your list! Seems non basis since your RUclips name is JBL lover and you have the pioneers 1st
I like jbl speakers but in this test the pioneer perform better👍
JBL and pioneer really speak to me
I’m really a JL audio Rockford head but not gonna lie I think the pioneer sound the best here and I think I’m going to buy them and take my JL ZR’s out and sell them .
I replaced my all speakers with all JBL very clean
need help please : blam relax 165RC vs alpine S2-S65 ?
Blam Express vs Hertz cento pro cpk 165.
Which one will be good for amp and without amp
Could you guys do a comparison video with infinity kappas? In my opinion they are right up there with focal speakers in terms of quality.
The kappa speaker is way way better than any of the speakers in this video...
Imo: the kappa 60 is the best speakers to be found.. period!
@@randomtoyotadude8952 strongly agree bro. I have the kappa 60csx and the 62ix speakers powered by a kappa four amp and it sounds beautiful.
Blam makes a hell of a lot of mechanical noise 😳
I'm think its gonna be between JBL and RF for me.
Thanks for videos like these!
Great informative vid, but I’m in the market for a set of 6.5 2-ways with tweeter
Could be I'm wrong, but that's what this video review is about!
@@chuckschillingvideos I think he means components. Poor guy
Have you done a video on 3.5” coax ?
Josh very helpful video
How many fingers do you have?
DS18 PRO-ZT6 6.5s are the shit. I had Infinity 6.5s and at 80rms they sounded good. the ds18s with the same power sound louder and more crisp.
Those DS-18 are midrange + super tweeter speakers, not traditional coaxial speakers
Memphis and BLAM FTW
Focal seems to focus on that flat-sounding audio alike the typical studio monitors imo
Do the pioneers need a break in period?
Man, that second song really threw in a curveball. The Blam sounded so good with vocals, but the midbass buzzing was awful. It's the ONLY song the Kicker shined on. That Pioneer is really surprising. And the Memphis sounds great, but too bright up top for me. With a -6db drop, they might be perfect
Agreed...or the Memphis just needs a subwoofer
Could anyone tell me, please...the first song, what is the song title and who's the singer or band?
To my ears and also my music preference, these would be:
1. Blam &/or Pioneer
2. JBL &/or Memphis
3. Focal
Kicker & Rockford not that musical, sound dull in opposite way with each brand funnily enough....
added 4 of these club to my wrangler. amazing sound....3 ohm is great if not adding an amp to the stock receiver. no need.
I heard lots of muddiness from the other speakers.
@@nfsspartanprim i mean for sure, some speakers sounded worst but everyone was so definite about the pioneer, that i just didnt hear it.
The Pioneers hit lower bass notes than the rest, it likely was rattling something, maybe the mounting surface
@@BreakersStereo thank you so much for the quick and detailed reply!
@@BreakersStereo I have infinity kappa Ix6.5s I looking for upgrade what do you think will be louder
Need a sound review for jl audio c1 and c2 6.5 and 6×9
Which one is available in india
My fav believe or not was pioneer. I also liked Memphis, these were the most versatile in music types. The focal impressed me on the first track but its yet accurate bass was overpowering. On any EQ and CO all these can be made to sound as desired but there were a few that had their cones that showed residual vibrations and kinda lost its shape through deflection.
Thanks for your detailed comment. These comments help other people.
Infinity Reference?
Where are the jls?
Escucho que en los BLAM suena algo como el cono o algún componente suelto !
Do you think the hertz legend setup is worth $1,800 or is the something cheaper that’s just as good?
I had HERTZ and they sounded Amazing. IMO Better than Focals
