Hi Brandon, Regarding the air assist port you need to push the black ring in. It's a little tricky and I wish they would have made it stick out a lot more but it's a regular push fitting with those little teeth that bite into the tube when you release pressure.
I was also split between the LM3 and D1. After watching every review I could find and then reading purchased reviews I decided that the Ortur was the way to go for me. First, the performance seemed to be slightly better when engraving and second but more importantly were the customer service oriented ratings. There seemed to be a trend towards a lack of customer service with xTool lately. I know there is a lot of turmoil going on in China right now so this is probably a temporary thing. Lastly, Amazon had a flash sale on the LM3 the other day making it $595 so I jumped on it. That left more money for accessories which we'll need to run these at there best. Just my 2 cents... Cheers, Greg
The limit function on this kind of driver works by monitoring the amount of current the stepper draws under normal operation vs what it would draw once the motor has stalled. It is closed looped insofar as a circuit reacts to the rapid jump in current (at the speed of light) and cuts the current (steps) to the motor. This is the way it should be done, as limit switches are prone to failure at some point.
Bought a 3 last Friday, assembled it on Sunday and it ran great. Moved it to a new location on Monday and guess what it will not turn on and of course, will not home. Have been in contact with Ortur this week and then the conversation ended yesterday, Thursday, with problem not resolved. Sure hope I hear from them on Monday. Have lost a week of production
Great review! I have a question, is there a low cost engraver that can solve the air pollution problem? I think manufacturers should take this issue seriously. The fumes from the cutting process are so high that I would need to buy a huge enclosure to cover the machine, which is a considerable expense.
I usually use extraction fans/ventilators when i have to work with my CO2 laser indoors during the winter months and during the summer i can leave the double doors to my workspace open. It's the cheapest solution i have found so far without having to build a rig for your machine.
@@stephaniemc8516 any one will do as long as it's strong enough to help clear out the space. I have two extraction fans, but you can also use an exhaust one which is a bit larger if your space is bigger.
As a fellow content creator I gotta ask... where in the world did you get those awesome light bars in the background?!?! AND are you using a slider or gimbal for some of the slow pan shots? Thanks! Sam
Great review! I like your presentation method; not to fast, not boring. That said, although this looks like a good unit; I’m leaning towards X-Tool 20w as my first laser. Do I need 20w? I don’t know, but if I have it, I won’t have to wish I had it.
Thanks for the awesome video. I am intending to purchase this machine as my first laser machine. So the air assist is provided but we need to purchase the compressor? Will the air assist not work without the compressor? If not, what is the compressor for? Thank you very much.
Great video, as a noob I have an atomstack A5Pro+ and I like it and I intend to only engrave but lately thinking of making router templates and a 10w machine would cut 1/4 " material, but to many choices if you get a 10w you loose engraving detail read everything on Ortur and the Ortur LM2 Pro S2 looks like one i would like, just to may brands and choices. got an Idea?
Hi I’m just looking to get my first machine. I’ve seen the ortur lm3 15000 speed so obviously this is different to this 20000 speed. Have you reviewed this? What do you think of the lower speed? Please help
Great vid! Quick question: i'm looking to get a laser engraver that can cut holes in film (the kind of film of put in an analog film camera). Do you think this engaver can do that? And will it cut the holes cleanly like the holes that already exist at the edge of camera film? Thanks!
Hi Brandon, I'm new to your channel, have subbed and hit the bell, and I'm hopefully going to get this Laser Engraver si a really useful video for me. You mentioned getting a compressor for the air assist which would you recommend? I live in the UK if that makes a difference. Great informative video. Take care. Cheers, Huw
I currently have the Glowforge basic. I’ve been trying to engrave on wooden spoons and spatulas. No matter what I do my design will not line up. Does this laser have the capability to line up your design.
I just got the LM3 and can’t get anything to complete using lightburn. It’s starts engraving and just randomly stops. Lightburn says busy and I can’t get it to do anything. I have to reboot the LM3 to get it working again.
Hey I’m considering buying a laser diode engraver/cutter for using in my leather shop to help me cut and engrave leather with art etc. I was considering these Ortur and x tool machines but then I started reading reviews saying that the motherboards fry in them because they have issues with grounding out and the company is a nightmare to get ahold of and deal with. So what’s the deal? Are these good or are they garbage? Any input would be appreciated as spending a grand or so on any gear at the moment is a bit of an expense for me currently. I can’t afford to be throwing money away on a product that’s going to work for a week and then fail on me. So what’s the best machine for cutting/engraving leather even if it does cost like $1000-2000~ that won’t go and crap out on a guy?
They loose the drag chain ? 😢Otherwise, at 8:28 Is it really the xTool test on top of ortur test? It seems you were able to cut at 20% 50mm/s just the frame before? I've been really happy with the LM2 pro(and the support), but I will wait for their 20W version.
Not sure on timing but I’ve got a 60W OMTech laser, a 55W from Thunder, a couple really cool 3D printers, a fiber laser and some updates on the R2D2 build that is usually chilling in the background of most videos.
I bought an ORTUR Master 3 LE in January, and it still does not work. I have sent loads of emails, videos, and photos, so they sent me a secondhand laser, which does not work either. Today 31/05/2023 and I have been ripped off by ORTUR.
Love your videos dude. I wish Ortur offered a 20w version tho. Also, you are not pronouncing it currently. It's OR-tur, not OH-tur. Keep up the good work though.

Ortur will be coming out with the 20W soon. Some say in October.

Did you get a solution to this in the end? I have a similar problem with mine

do you have plan to review on the upcoming IR laser from xTool or atomstack? Curious on the performance when compare to fiber laser.

You can even go with the cheaper 10W from xTool and upgrade down the road. But I totally get just getting the most powerful one to begin with.
Trying to decide between xtool 10w and ortur 3 10w, for a beginner, what’s better? Please advise :)!

"oh look it's another laser" I say the same thing every morning I check my emails hahaha 🤣 great review as always Brandon.
Haha, yeh it’s only the really good ones that get a video now, ha!
Yes! Same!
Your reviews are top notch. 👌🏻
can i directly engrave from illustrator?
Did you measure the spot size on this laser?

Hi! Do you can engrave cups with this laser?
Do you have a review on the XTool Laserbox Rotary vs the glowforge ?
Will the mug / cylinder tool rolling attachment (from the Otur laser 2) work with the new one?
hi brandon, what is the thickest wood it will cut please?and keep up the good review, rot

What do you recommend for a portable engraver for name tag blanks?

The new "limit switch" seems similar to touch probes on cnc routers
Yep, the probes I use complete an electrical connection but I think they aren’t closed loop. This looks to be a step up which is pretty awesome!
It's not a closed loop setup. They are using TMC 2209 stepper drivers.
Probably using Trinamics drivers with sensor less homing

Size doesn't cause vibrations mass does

Great video bro! They’ve emailed me four times to do a review. 🫣 The limit “switch” is interesting. Bummed it’s not 20w.
Hoping for an easy upgrade to a 20W module in the future
