Mercedes E63 AMG Front Control Arm Replacement (2003-2011 Mercedes W211 E55 AMG, E320, E350, E500)

- ►Your Mercedes-Benz front control arms feature a combination of eight bushing and ball joints per corner to control suspension articulation and absorb NVH. However, the bushings and joints will weaken over time as they see use. Eventually, the once sharp handling will diminish into a vague and soft mess, thanks to the worn bushings and joints. Replacing your control arms is the easiest and most-efficient way of refreshing those components and reviving your Mercedes' handling.
The W211 chassis uses a double-wishbone suspension architecture for the best possible suspension control, but its construction can make arm replacement a bit tricky. Luckily, all you need are the correct hand tools and some patience to get the job done yourself.

Great Video! You are great explanation step by step as if I was going to do this my self. Great workplace to work air conditioning, all the tools you need as your disposal. You make it look so easy your not even dirty! You can work on my car anytime. Only thing is the dealers charge too much for the simple things like changing the light bulbs. Need to find a reasonable price and a good mechanic.

Can you do W-211 4-matic. They are far more common than RWD
@@keytothegate68 I think that depends on where you live, if you're in a climate with long winters maybe yes, if you're in a warm climate the RWD cars are more common. Also all W211 AMG's are RWD.

how important is it to torque the lower strut to control arm bolts with the suspension loaded? Because I forgot to do it that way...
You want to do it at ride height so you don't tear the bushing in the arm!

Hello Sir, about preload before torque the nut... I've done what you taught but my front tire is too deep into the fender. specifically how to determine the preload size with a jack. Help me 😅
I think I made a mistake in determining the preload height... my car is W211 2009. How do I determine the preload height correctly?
I can see u put fit caster screw....on the lower control arm. Did u adjust the caster afterwards?
The MB owner took it for an alignment right after we finished filming!
So if I didn’t have lift , can I torque components loaded on the ground or ????
You wouldn't be able to torque while on the ground since you have to put your tire on to put it on the ground then your wheel/tire will be in the way.
No washer on the forward control arm to spindle nut?

I don't believe there is one, my 2006 E55 didn't have any and the parts definitely look original.

Absolutely, you always want to get one done after doing any front end work like this.
