Don't ever believe the Council is working in your best interests.
The nostalgia!! I was born in Newbold in '67 and loved shopping in Chesterfield. I spent hours in the market, mostly with my Grandma, buying fruit and veg and pestering for new clothes or earrings!
I doubt anyone involved with stopping that development will ever see this, but thank you.
Great bit of video archive and "Pound a bag" Roy making an appearance at 2:44.
Not to mention the vast Roman Fort under the church, going further down towards the Police station

Thank the lord a concrete monstrosity was not built, concrete structures age badly and the town would have been awful now

As soon as I saw Flanagan I knew then why this town has become a cold empty abyss with no heart or soul and thing have still not changed.
I’m glad it didn’t happen. I like my town.
I remove part that roman road near spire Church we were... told use to did it out in 1988 to build wot ya got now by Chesterfield council
