Lindsay went too far with threatening Georgia, but she was right to be annoyed by another girl clearly zoning in on her boyfriend. Not to mention, Robbie and Georgia kissed while he was technically still dating Lindsay.
RIIGHHHTTT!! Like yeah she was mean, but they spied on her changing (which I don’t think she ever found out about), talked bad about her too, stole ALL her invited guests to her party, AND Robbie cheated on her with Georgia!!
The “not like other girls” energy is radiating off of Georgia.
OMG YES that’s what I was feeling, idk why that didn’t immediately pop into my head 💀
I dunno, a lot of girls internalized that and had recognise it's wrong and learn from it too, I know I did when I was around georgia's age.
She gets a bit more self aware in the books. This movie covers the first few only.
As a brit I feel the need to point out that grading here is a lot harder than the US. I’ve had to console uni students from outside the UK that getting a 75 is VERY good and you’re not failing lmao.
Omg really?? That’s so interesting, getting a 75 would’ve definitely destroyed me 😂
As an American currently studying in the UK… This is extremely relatable😂
Another Brit thing to flag, uniform doesn't mean you're in private school! Everyone wears uniform here. Private schools and non-private schools.
@@gabi0h Uniforms are actually used in some big cities here in America too. Large public school districts will sometimes have them too like in Houston or Detroit for instance. However it’s definitely more common to not have them unless you are in private school.
It's like that here too, a 75 is passing
georgia thinking he wrote a sweet song about her but it was called bitch in a uniform 😭
(I’m so sorry I’m commenting as I watch) This film reminds me why it took me so long to come to terms with being a lesbian because my GOD the casual slurs being thrown around and the sentiment is so wild. Glad we’ve moved forward in that regard for younger gays.
2000s-early 2010s were truly a different time 🥲 like saying “that’s gay” to signify that something is “weird”
the spit trail scene haunts me to this day but seeing young aaron taylor johnson makes up for it
I loved this movie as a preteen, but I agree, Georgia is a bit insufferable, and horrible to her supposed friends, even though she changes by the end.
This is why I could never be a teenager again. Everything feels way more important than it actually is.
I FEEEEL YOU, I could not be a teen again 😭
the books weren’t too bad - but in the last book she ends up with dave the laugh and not robbie - also love your videos ❤
Huh so my prediction was technically correct that they don’t end up together at the end 🤩
I only read the first couple, so thanks for filling us in lol. There was no way I was gonna go back and read them all lol
@@xletragedyxby book 9/10 she has to choose between robbie, dave and this guy called masimo
i LOVE and HATE this movie. Georgia had me stressed as a kid but now I really can’t blame her that age is WEIRD. (but she did some very unhinged things 😭)
I loved the books as a teenager! The movie is a lot sweeter and kinder but the books are funnier. The books used to come with a glossary with British slang words. I do think the movie captured the girls correctly though; very extra.
Every time I watch Sophia I keep thinking the chair is a pair of wings and that she’s dressed up as a little fairy and every five minutes I’m like “oh yeah, it’s the chair,”
I actually think it kind of looks like an exoskeleton 😂 of a bug or something
Tiers of evil.
Dolphins
Nickelodeon
Sophia for showing the kissing scene, that string of spit🤮.
But really this definitely made me remember my teen years it was a treat but a weird treat.
Ikr?? It gives me all the nostalgic feelings of being a teen without actually being a teen haha
Omg! I love this movie, I would be lying if I didn’t say ultraviolet was my favorite song when I was a preteen/teen the soundtrack is amazing! it created a British obsession for me. Thank you Sophia you look so beautiful as always, stay safe.💕🥹🫶🏼
Thank you 🥹🫶🏼
This movie came out when I was about to start high school, it was basically my favorite movie and Ultraviolet ended up being my pick for my senior song! I don’t know if other schools did this but we made an album of songs each senior picked as our “senior anthems”. Still a great song now, questionable movie lol actually the soundtrack in general is still good. And it always bothers me when kids in movies are blatantly not following dress code lol like no one would be allowed to have their blouse unbuttoned that far! Also, what is the tattoo on the inside of your arm? It looks cool!
It’s a woman in a traditional Vietnamese dress (ao dai) and rice hat, holding flowers 🥰
I used to work at a farm stand and it was a pretty chill job. One of my coworkers left a book from this series there and during a particularly slow shift, I read part of it. I liked that there was a little dictionary at the end of the book with the English slang in it. Anyway, I thought it was alright, but didn’t know what was going on half of the time hahaha
"and he's a cat lover that's a green flag" as a cat fan accurate.
Georgia was literally oozing main character energy like i get you want to feel special but calm down girl
I honestly never had a problem with my parents kissing each other. Maybe a few times when I was little, but I always was glad that my parents showed how much they loved each other. When I watched this film for the first time last year, I honestly sided with Jasmine because Georgia WAS being a trashy friend. If my best friend was happy with a guy she was in love with, I'd be happy for her even if I didn't have a boyfriend myself; I'd support her. The perfect song that they could have used but didn't (maybe because they're in the UK in this movie and Avril Lavigne is Canadian) would have been "Hey! Hey! You! You! I Don't Like Your Girlfriend" by Avril Lavigne.
Now I feel like I need a sequel movie where she's the one who's "over the age of 30" and her "life is practically over". To see how things have changed lol. I know my opinions and ideas of what life is going to be like in your 30s (or as an adult as a whole) that I had in my childhood/teen years are definitely not the same as how it actually is. Somehow I guess I thought when you became an adult that bullying and the immature behavior would just all go away (it definitely doesn't for a lot of people) and people would be.... well, grown up. "Grown up" I think was also a much more black & white concept I guess, too lol. At some point everyone just got married, bought a house, had kids and went to work. With those memories in mind it'd be interesting seeing her as the one with a teenage daughter. Maybe as a single mom still trying to date. Thinking back to when she was her daughter's age.
I read those books, and I remember absolutely nothing😂. I only vaguely recall giggling with my friends over how dramatic she was and the word 'snogging'
Georgia walked so Devi Could run
STOOOOPPPP THIS IS SO TRUE, Devi frustrated me to no end 😭
@@SophiaPhannn omg I can’t believe you responded!!! I’ve been a silent watcher for so long and the first time I comment you responded 😄😄
i wish i’d seen this chaotic movie as a preteen/teen 😭😭 i’ve only ever watched it through youtube commentaries lmfao
The spit trail scene is a different type of horrific when you watch it as a preteen 😂
My life's greatest regret was making a Robbie Jennings asmr roleplay video for a friend on an old account that I no longer have the login details for and now I can't delete it and it will hence exist on RUclips until the end of time...
Oh man this was an entire 12 book series. I straight up loved this books as a teen, because I thought I was very cool learning British slang. I don’t really remember if this movie was a good adaptation, but I guess it was because I don’t remember it not being. I’m sure I would cringe reading them now, but it was a good look (I assume) at English teenhood in a private school.
8:01 No, because why is this so true!!! 😭😭😭 I went to a concert and during the opening act I basically fell in love with the bass player (I’ve never heard of the band before). Then I went through a full thought process of more bass players that are my favorite in multiple bands 😂
I had the biggest crush on Robbie growing up! I loved emo boys who played in bands growing up 😂
They are not in private school. Most British schools have a uniform not just private ones. Also from my experience the school did care about dress codes but only certain teachers enforced it.
We have love island in the UK, and everyone hates it or loves it, there is no in-between
I love Love Island UK, I think it’s one of the better ones (earlier seasons though)
Listen the hold these books had on me in middle school was crazy 😂 I remember this being one of the first book to movie experiences where I was disappointed in the movie adaptation
I remember being at my local dvd rental store at the age of 10 and this movie was on the recent release section. My sister picked it up and was like, “oh, my best friend said this movie is good, and she said the main guy looked like Alex Turner”. From there, it became one of my childhood favourites
I remember being obsessed with this movie when it first came out (I was 8 😭)
The way I cringed but also remembered ab my actions at the same age 😅😅.. I used to follow boys from different schools, in ✨ brought daylight ✨ with my friends.. one of the most relatable teen movie for me 🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
Good commentary I’m 16 and seeing this made me realize what it actually is like to be a teenager on screen not like Euphoria now a days this movie was much too realistic for my taste but still enjoyable ❤
Such an iconic movie of my childhood!
I'm shocked that most folks have never heard of this film. Plus, having it on TeenNick was pretty memorable (now thanks to you reminding me because of it). I wonder if 2023's 'Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret' is on your "Much-Watch" list for this channel? I think both go hand-in-hand.
Ooh I heard that was good, but I never thought about watching it for the channel 🤔
OKAYYYY ANGUS THONGS AND PERFECT SNOGGING
Everyone is only talking bout Georgia being a bad friend (she kinda was n wasn't) but her friends were terrible too and selfish.
I used to love this series of books, had no idea it was made into a movie until a couple months ago. It's written in a diary format and as far as I can remember it's pretty accurate to the books, but it's been a really long time since I've read them. I'd have to do a reread. I don't recall how horrible the main character was (especially since I was also a hard to put up with teenager at the time) but I do remember her deciding to be a better person and listening to ocean noise so good chance her being the worst stands up. Makes for interesting plot tho
Also- Full frontal is probably just referring to the INTENSITY 😂I still use full frontal sometimes to put punctuation behind something that isn't necessarily full frontal. Holdover from my 00's days
There’s also 10 books & Georgia has a whole Snogging Scale.
Oh HELL yeah! More people NEED to be talking about this masterpiece 🤣
3:08 Hi, me, I read the ENTIIIIIRE series religiously in junior high. It was my Diary of a Wimpy Kid at that age and honestly, I remember enjoying it and the way it was set up as diary entries, it really inspired me to write my own books at the time but I probably wouldn't like it now with how I also thought the main character sucked and some not so PC nicknames for some characters lol
Also, I remember having a small teeny tiny crush on the mom in this movie skssjsksnkzsl
@@Mo_Nilla_Co the mom?!?! lmao
@@blahblahblahSPLASH LOOOOOK, she's fine as hell, I cannot lie 😔
@@Mo_Nilla_Co now that I'm 30 I get it lol and I was probably still in denial about my sexuality back then when I watched this movie lol
@@blahblahblahSPLASH Tbh, I'm still in limbo about my own to this day, I just knew who was fine to me and who was not lol.
i read this entire book series growing up and was in love, had NO idea they made a film, was SEVERELY disappointed and let down with how the entire thing played out when i finally watched it D:
I loved the books when I was in middle school! I really don’t remember anything outside of what happens in the movie, but Georgia was such a messy queen. I’m almost totally certain they don’t hold up today though lol.
So funny that you mention Troy and Gabriella cause according to S4 of High School Musicial the Series theyre in couples counseling 😂
I SAW ON TWITTER TODAY LOOOOL it’s like they heard me 😱
@@SophiaPhannn seems like it 🤣
i don't count that.
Another inspired choice from my favorite content creator! Also dug the Barbie movie. Thank you for re-scarring me with the spit trail moment and happy snogging!
i remember getting ratted out by my little sister because she saw me watch this movie with my cousin when i was 11 😭
LOL THAT’S SO FUNNY, honestly we had no business watching this at that age 😩
edit: i think i was 13, so i was technically of age to watch but we were raised catholic so it was pretty much still a no 😭
I found this book when i was in HS(2005). I was a TA for the library and truly enjoyed finding new books to read. I loved the book and i always remember her calling him a "sex-god" haha. I was so happy to find out years later they came out with this movie. I wont lie its a guilty pleasure. Georgia does piss me off though 😂 also Aaron Taylor Johnson 😍😍😍
I gotta come clean and admit although I found Robbie beautiful because, I mean... duh, I was actually in love with Dave the Laugh. He was a little obnoxious BUT HE WAS SOOOOOOO PREETYYYYYYYYYYYY and he had such a cute charm about him when he felt shy, I was smitten
Awwww I used to love this movie when I was a kid
2:38 the UK is actually a whole bunch of islands, such as the outer Hebrides
I was obsesssssed with the books when I was like 12-13, absolutely peak comedy as far as I was concerned
Nickelodeon was so wild for this movie but I'm so here for it
I remember seeing a promotional ad for the movie on Nickelodeon
I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE
As a Brit, the private school comment got me 😭
omg I usted LOVE this movie when I was younger, something about these unhinged teenage girls connected so bad with my gay ass back than lol and yes, Georgia is the worst 😂
Idk about the movie but this whole look was a definite tour de force.
This is definitely a movie that was way way better as a book series. Yes, Georgia is a less than great person, but she’s the lead “mean” girl. She’s funny but in a way that many many of us were terrible as teens
❤❤❤SOPHIA PLEASE CHOOSE DISNEY'S SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARVES FOR YOUR NEXT VIDEO❤❤❤ it's a beautiful classic
I watched this not long ago and googled the cast and it made me feel so old! Hahaha they're all like married and have babies 😂🤣
This movie is so iconic
I always find it fascinating watching non-brits react to British films, especially this one, as some of the most uninteresting and normal parts of British culture is shocking to those who don’t know. Like how pretty much every school wears uniforms, not just private school. And on exams, 82% is actually pretty impressive as our exams are much harder than in the us as they aren’t multiple choice. Just wanted to share some fun facts! 😁
Unrelated to the movie but you look soso fairy-like in this video! From the makeup to the hair to how your chair kinda looks like fairy wings. Huge Rosetta from Pixie Hollow vibes.
Nowadays, Robbie (Aaron Johnson) is married to someone old enough to be his mother, he’s been with her since he was 18. 😬😒
it’s funny you say that about troy and gabriella when it’s been announced they’re in couple’s therapy 😭😭
I almost forgot about this movie 😅
sophia u look so pretty in this video xx
most uk schools wear uniforms not just private
The books are so good I wish they adapted them all.
This movie has a sus moment
As a person who lives in Britain the majority of schools in the uk have uniform it’s really unusual for them not to they are most likely in public school so that’s probably why the teachers don’t care as much about dress code
The book was written as a journal and yes I think the book was exaggerated. And honestly I felt the book was so seriously accurate lol. It was funny af and cringe but also extremely relatable.
A cult classic for sure cringe and iconic lol
💜💜💜😂😂😂
Never watched this or even heard about it hahahaah that was a great watch ❤
yessss love island UK!! which couple were you rooting for this season?
I HAVEN’T WATCHED IT YET! I’ve been trying to catch up on other shows before starting it 😩 plus it’s 58 episodes, I gotta brace myself
Someone don't tell Sophia about Troy and Gabi being in couple's therapy.
I’ve read all 10 books - got into them because of the movie. The movie is a bit sweeter and romanticised; the books are funnier and sarcastic. They got pretty much the essence of most of the characters pretty well, especially from the first two novels. I think the two characters who differ the most from book to movie adaptation would be Ellen and Dave. They are both given a bit more time to shine in the books; Ellen has a problem where she trips over her words and says “you know” a lot (if I remember correctly); and Dave is funnier, has more charisma and he and Georgia like each other more.
But some of these facets are shown more as the series goes on. The movie, despite losing some plot threads, is a great adaptation of the first two books. You also have the difference where the books are written in a diary format, so not only is Georgia narrating her life and moments of it in random bursts but it can also be slightly (a lot lol) unreliable. Once you realize this, that’s kind of what makes everything funnier at times, because you think of certain scenes from others or a non biased pov and realize how nutty Georgia actually is.
Rosie was always my favourite. Her and her partner were fucking hilarious.
I forgot Aaron Taylor-Johnson was in this
As a Brit I just wanna let you know every school wears a uniform here and most of them are not private!! I doubt v much the school in this is meant to be private
PLEASE WHY did I think this was the epitome of cool movie when I was younger... watching this (or watching you watch this lol) is making me cringe HARD
and the spit string still grosses me out
Sophia Phan I just watched your George of the jungle video, god you're so funny!
OMG thank you 🥺🫶🏼
@@SophiaPhannn You're welcome, thank you for all the love.
Ahhh I love this movie!
I know a lot of people think Georgia is insufferable and she is insufferable-and has that not-like-other-girls vibe (which is a phase a lot of teenage girls go through). But I think that’s the point…and she reminds me of Devi in that way. They both get called out and have to experience the consequences of their actions. The things she does are a bit, um, unhinged, and even as a kid, I was, like, 👀
Love your channel and content love this movie 🍿
This movie had me in a chokehold as a kid 🤡 I mainly watched it for Tom (Sean Bourke) but like you said Aaron Taylor-Johnson has aways been cute as well. Not me torturing myself with this movie for crumbs😭😭 The comment about bass players had me blushing☺️
26:23 ok no. I’ve dated many musicians and I found it always embarrassing when they would make songs about me and people would hear it.
I don´t know if this is just my experience but in Europe there are clubs that are open for teenagers (underage), with no alcohol and a different schedule than the regular one. I don´t know how old you had to be to get in but... underage hahahhaa
Who have u done this I watched it the exact day this came out lol
every teen in this movie is horrible and/or insufferable
Lol majority of the time in all movie honestly
