Love the Atlas, ran it as my primary beam boat for about a year. Love the design and the console it came with was prototype power distribution system which was OP.
That antenna is on all Temporal Ships which is what all the TOS designs in STO are save for the Pioneer class. It is also on the 26th Century variants of almost all TOS STO designs.
I really like this one. About the only thing I think it needs (especially at the bigger size) is a secondary shuttle bay. Perhaps a top loading one on the top of that blocky section on top of the saucer. Not too far back, obviously, since that's where the impulse engines are, but closer in to the center of the saucer.
There are a few issues I have with the various dreadnought designs. First off, the designers tend to forget that this is a battleship, meaning this ship has one job, to kill people and break things. You don't need a big giant saucer for that, unless it's to house a bunch of weapons. Also, adding nacelles don't increase the power. Warp nacelles use power, they don't produce it. Their job is propulsion, so a couple of well armored nacelles would be fine. I also think the primary and secondary hulls would be better integrated, assuming there would even be separate hulls. Best model of a Starfleet warship is the Defiant in DS9. Expand that approach up to the size of, say, a Constitution class for TOS era, or Ambassador class for TNG, and I think you'd have something.
Hello, there are some perspectives on your comments. First, battle ships are tough militarlized vessels for emergency services and military practices in general, your opinion"kill people" is little bit aggressive, but probably you mean to if some conflicts occurs. High energy or laser beam systems could be reset as weapons, but in reality, if a battle ship is tend to open it's weaponary system, space main control system and mothership networks would be confirm or reject weaponary system due to security reasons. Second, large soucer hull are depends on ship size, because heavy vessels are significant to starfleets(by the way, why not to keep large saucer hull? we are not seen them as flexible hotel, lol). Finally about populsion systems. There are too many types of engines and populsion methods, but ship designers had their own choices. However, it's time to consider populsion advancement as you have mentioned.
I kind of like how the nacelle variant on the concept art looks like it could be DSC era variant, so this would fit to TOS as is and with minor tweaks I could easily see this as a background ship in SNW or even as a "guest star" hero ship.
I'll never sink the time or money into the game to buy this or use an Event Campaign Token to get this because there are simply other ships I'm more passionate about. But when I see someone else flying this ship, I always give it a little nod of approval. It's a very nice TOS design.
I never like TOS ship design. Until I see Atlas dreadnought... I love it!!! Is so great, those proportion and general elegance! I will get it in Star Trek Online sooner or later but I will get it.
The Atlas Dreadnought is one of my favorite ships, in STO. Despite the power creep since it was introduced. On my main toon I named her the USS Nothung (Nothing). I will have to go back to her and determine if she's worth the Tier 6 X3 upgrade.
The Atlas is an odd design for me personally. I was able to get one in STO before the EC prices went insane a couple of years ago. When 450 million seemed like a lot to pay. Now they are probably closer to 2 billion, mostly all for it's console. When they announced a TOS era Dreadnaught I was expecting the triple nacelle version. With the Atlas being a prototype Dread there is still room to suggest this was a pre Federation class tech platform which then advanced into the Federation class itself. I would love to see more TOS/movie era designs in STO, especially the Akula/Apollo Refit destroyer from Starfleet Command/Legacy. The recent additions like a TOS era Akira and the fighters from Starfleet Command 2/Shattered Universe give me hope we might see other game content brought across still.
That's a good looking dreadnought. I'm a fan of the Dreadnought novel and was introduced to the class via that novel. But this would have been a good contender for the cover of that book. I like the cowling around the Bussard collectors. It gives a finished look I think. The thicker neck is definitely a direct fix to the skinny neck of the connie. I agree the impulse engines are placed well but the rest of that section looks unfinished. Maybe because it's a dreadnought, for redundancy reasons they could have put an extra set of engines in there some how. Anyways nice break down. Thank you.
🖖😎👍Very cool and very nicely well done and executed and very informatively explained in every way shape and form and detail provided on this subject matter on this Dreadnought and it's design and functions and abilities and purpose of its duties and so forth indeed, And I myself really like the design and looks of this ship looks very powerfull and very much more functional than the 3 nacelle design on which I still like the looks of very much as well!, Any ways a job very nicely well done indeed Guys,👌.
The TOS/refit neck did not bother me it was the windows in the Neck. "PACIFIC" fan production has some kind of observation windows in the front of that ships neck.
These are old publicity images. All of those Star Trek Online TOS Starfleet ships were updated with animated bussard collectors (red with spinning christmas lights). The size of this ship is evidently a bit controversial at Cryptic. Art Director Thomas Marrone doesn't like that it's designed and scaled to be larger than any canon TOS ship and the Excelsior. He recently proposed reworking the model to enlarge the bridge/shrink the overall scale to be roughly Constitution-sized.
An aside, but I'm curious why no on ever seems to mention how this style of secondary engineering hull, has the look of the OG phasers main body. Always wondered if that was intentional or an accident.
Ok. Lol. Is it "dreadnought", or "dreadnaught"? I was having this discussion with a friend yesterday... but the difference between the thumbnail and the title hasn't helped me solve anything 😂 This is a beautiful ship by the way. I like what they did with the pylon attachments right on that hefty impulse drive. Integrated engineering. It's like the secondary hull could be the lifeboat instead of the saucer like with the "D".
It's always nice to see Trekyards trekyarding.Great ship.
I really like it it's not overly fussy and because of this it looks more realistic.
I love the look of this ship it's fantastic.
Love the Atlas, ran it as my primary beam boat for about a year. Love the design and the console it came with was prototype power distribution system which was OP.
One of my STO characters flys an Atlas, it’s a beautiful ship. Especially when it’s in motion.
Agree
I love this one! And even more since it is the TOS adaptation of my fav STO design, the Concorde class!
Wow a model that actually looks like my Chimera models from 2019, I like it. It'sa better than my wood models. Kudos to the designers.

it also follows the design of the post TNG 4 nacelle battleships in STO

I indeed did sink a year of my time and event campaign token into getting this remarkable vessel last year, and by the Gods it was worth it :)
@summonersumnerus4364 I might get it after I get the Constitution III, then 😏
Awesome Dreadnought crew number's.
I did this for my design / incorporating dual nacelles (in the same housing together) in a post tng era flag ship
I never like TOS ship design. Until I see Atlas dreadnought... I love it!!! Is so great, those proportion and general elegance! I will get it in Star Trek Online sooner or later but I will get it.
Ah the Atlas, perhaps by favorite of the TOS AOY ships
The Very Big Stick of the Federation Starfleet when the Klingons decided to do something stupid.
i am hoping to see the federation class in sto
I 3D printed this about two years ago.Good size, about 14 inches long.
The Atlas Dreadnought is one of my favorite ships, in STO. Despite the power creep since it was introduced. On my main toon I named her the USS Nothung (Nothing). I will have to go back to her and determine if she's worth the Tier 6 X3 upgrade.
Beautiful ship!
Good T6 ship, great for many builds. Would love a Franz Joseph though.....
My favorite tos dreadnaught
I must say I really like this ship. But I absolutely love those nacelles!
Thanks!

Mine is USS Poseidon, one of my best ships, not my favorite name but it’s in keeping with the class name.
That's a good looking dreadnought.

Reminds me of the Washington class from the Star Trek legacy game
The TOS/refit neck did not bother me it was the windows in the Neck.
"PACIFIC" fan production has some kind of observation windows in the front of that ships neck.
Seems they made the windows smaller like a battleship would be. Viewports could be targets.

Got one on a character I named USS Arizona.
Dreadnoughts are cool.
USS Tempus, commanded by Fleet Admiral Sta'ark of Vulcan.
Love those nacelles
The Trekker in TOS style, from the fleet yard in Starship Chimera. It's not, but it looks enough like it.
An aside, but I'm curious why no on ever seems to mention how this style of secondary engineering hull, has the look of the OG phasers main body. Always wondered if that was intentional or an accident.
USS Jimmy Carter,. Great man, great ship.

I like it!
I love it
Yeah the double nacell doesn’t work for me just cause they are too close to draw properly.
Why do the nacelle pylons connect where they do? I would put those double engines on a connie and call it a day.
Needs a bridge window, bigger nacelles, and phaser turrets!
Yes and no, bridge window so long as it has a retractable blast screen in front of it.
Lol!! Stahp!!
@@maskddingo1779 Bridge interior needs lights shinning in your face from every angle!
@@notabannedaccount8362 NOOOOOOoooooooooo! 😁
@@notabannedaccount8362 and I want more photon torpedo tubes and phasers.
The nacelles are way to close. One good shot and 2 nacelles out of comission.
hmm?
