I love that reframe from "to do list" to "things I get to do". I will be using that! Great tips!

Im a local truck driver but I don’t want to do this the rest of my life. Ive always been an advocate I enjoy helping anyone and enjoy listening and talking to people. Its been heavy on my heart to change my career and pursue social work. My question is, am I to late to do this? Im 33 and All Iv done is labor work. Only experience I have is my life in general and was a youth leader for 5 years which I loved.

Good question man, but what better question to ask yourself is what can you do with that CDL that you haven't already done? I drove for 15 years and went back to school at 40. Thing about it is I feel I can still do what I do for 30 more years, so if you start now you'll have a master's before you turn 40 and still be able to put 25 years in if that is what you choose. I recommend having a solid support team as there will be sleepless nights! Good luck.
BTW- there was freedom on the road, but I remember stopping for food at rest stops and seeing all the families traveling together and knew I need to find a career that kept me home, be safe my man! I hope this helps. I'll graduate with my master's in five weeks and boy was it a long road to get there!! No pun...

Never to late no way, DO IT without hesitation. You do not realise your intrinsic worth. I think you'll be great at it, because it's something you really want to do! I'm 40 and only a year in to my social work degree. I have a classmate who's in her sixties and she's doing wonderfully! Being able to truly listen, and being aware/observant are pretty much the most important skills. seriously, GO for it!!

Really good information. Thanks, I am obtaining my school social work certificate and I will definitely keep these tips in mind as I enter this phase of my life. I feel we can impact and change this country one school at a time by being consistent with the children who need direct access to positive adult role models during this crucial stage of their lives...

I agree that it is so important to be consistent. What I seem to be running into lately is crisis situations that pull me from my scheduled times else where. Any tips on how to address that
