best interior car generation - perfect amount of technology while being super easy to use
Looks Like its from 2012.
@@VeyroneRwhich is the best generation interior wise besides touchscreen tech
@@VeyroneRnot exactly a bad thing
For real I miss my 2014 Camry just simple physical buttons gets to any menu I need in like a second lol
@@VeyroneR The base model screen might look a bit dated, but the 10 inch touch screen in my gti mk7 SE is definitely still modern looking.
Hate me for this, but I love the screen. Its not the shenanigans we have nowadays in the golf GTI and works just fine
Its so nice that this and the new golf have physical buttons, vw listening to feedback
That's because this is an old infotainment and interior.
But the Golf still has capacitive panels for HVAC and headlights
@@SourceHades Yeah, that's because it's the previous gen infotainment, like the golf mk7. The fact that it's a 2023 model doesn't mean it automatically gets the new infotainment.
I've found that way to keep these new Volkswagens from blasting off every time you touch the pedal is to keep them in Eco mode.
This video definitely helped me decide to buy my 2024 Tiguan. Thank you, so far I LOVE IT 😊
Set to buy a 2024 Tiguan S next week myself. How ya like it so far? Also, dealer asking 30K out the door (500/mo for 60 months 0% APR). You get a good deal on yours?
I like that the blind spot monitoring light is not on the mirror glass
The interior is already 10 years old
They redid the interior with the Atlas. Everyone threw a fit.
Not sure what more people want - normal buttons or touchscreen
in europe we already have next gen tiguan, and tbh i prefer the old one, it seems more user friendly
@@bradyb9929critical thinkers prefer normal buttons. Those that lack that skill and take things at face value prefer whatever is trendy.
what makes you think that we need touchscreen + touch buttons for every piece of thing in the cabin? they can very well modernise their designs in harmony with new screens + normal buttons, lots of brands have done it, they can do it too, but instead, they've been selling the same interior in all of their lineups for what is approximately 15 years now. put a golf mk5 and this car's interior side by side, they're 85% the same. @@bradyb9929
Can't believe I say this, but Toyota's interior looks better than this
Nice review! We've got a 2019 Tiguan SEL and you did a good job summarizing the car. My older kid loves sitting passenger side in the 3rd row. We keep half the 2nd row folded in front of him so he can prop his legs up like it's a leg rest. My younger kid sits rear facing on the driver side in the 2nd row and they can interact with one another. It's such a great seating arrangement/packaging for a compact SUV. When the in-laws visit, we can all take the same car on trips. Panoramic sunroof helps make the car feel a bit more spacious inside. I also downsized from the OEM 18" wheel to the newer 17" wheels in your video and that helped with the ride quality/NVH. Overall it's a fantastic utilitarian vehicle. I'd recommend SEL for the larger infotainment and better digital dash. The throttle response is bad on our 19 MY though, feels like it's in Eco mode all the time, but for a family car it's not the end of the world and Sport mode is much better.
Install an APR or unitronic stage 1 chip and your turbo lag will go away. No brainer for less than 1k
It is ridiculous how cheap you can get a Tiguan with a decent engine in the US.
In Germany this model is called the Tiguan Allspace (because of the third row) and with the same engine it wil set you back 49,020€ or 53,157 USD without any extras.
I think part of the reason why they’re cheaper in the US is because these Tiguans are built in Mexico.
@@myNEONCITYAnd the Wolfsburg made Tiguans come with a 220HP version of the same EA888 evo 3 engine (Which is seriously detuned for the US market at 184HP) and a proper 7-Speed DSG instead of the 8-Speed automatic Aisin (Toyota) transmission we get on all US spec Tiguans
Wild that it has a third row!
I have one. 2022 s. You have to put it in sport mode to enjoy it. Huge backseat perfect for 2 car seats and fits an adult in between. Love it.
I remember having literally no back seats back in the days in the first gen tiguan. They are three row vehicles now? That's absolutely crazy, like the GLB
I have the 2020 Tiguan R-Line Black edition. By far the best driving experience and handling in this segment IMO. It feels like a bigger Golf GTI with AWD. It isn’t exactly fast, but it has enough power for what it is supposed to be and a $700 stage 1 tune takes care of that with no parts required. That said, this video features the FWD “S” which really isn’t the same. My Tighy has the panoramic sunroof, much better screen, wider tires, nicer trim and wheels and some other stuff this one doesn’t. I am not sure the price on this is a good deal. I paid $32k for mine brand new a couple years ago. I saw several at the dealer the other day for slightly more. Definitely worth stepping up to at least the SE IMO, and if you want it to look nice the R-Line black trim makes these things look much better.
I totally agree with the throttle tuning. Normal mode you can get used to. Sport mode is ridiculously sensitive. Eco mode is downright dangerous. Like you have to basically floor it to pul out into traffic else get t-boned in eco mode.
I have a 2024. S I don't have any problems with the Throttle. The response is really good
VW build quality is definitely changing with each evolution of a model. Sad to see, as the trade-off for a higher cost of ownership was a semi-luxury experience and superior driving characteristics. Almost like Saab (before they were GMified). Maybe the Arteon is the exception to the trend, but that’s now discontinued. The current path the brand is taking is largely why I went with a Mk7.5 instead of a Mk8. Mk8 has more power, but lost that special VW feel.
We owned 2 tiguans,,,,just traded out of our 21' for a 23' awd calligraphy Santa Fe...way nicer..quieter, and much more power (2.5t) The VWs handle decent but hated the throttle tuning as well. There were tons of build quality issues on our 2018,,our 2021 only had a few electronic issues.TY for the content Topher.
I love my 22 Tiguan R line black but the HP I don't like. You should of waited for the new designed 2024 Sante Fe they are just coming out with. It's almost same size as the Palisade and it looks so good.. I'm thinking about trading my Tig in.
Have a 2019 Tiguan as a fleet vehicle and in theory it’s a solid vehicle. Many aspects of the vehicle are practical, comfortable spacing, and reasonable as a daily driver. But power is obsolete, not a quite vehicle, and had quite a few mechanical/electrical issues within 5 years of use. Also, the safety systems are too aggressive car stops if it is looking at pavement..
A Hyundai😂😂😂😂😂
I just bought a 24 tiguan. S very responsive plenty of pep in Normal mode. Don't really need to you sport mode. Great ride quiet inside smooth. Good handling, great acceleration. And heated seats that get quite hot. Not a problem with turbo lag either
Still like it 5 months later? I’m looking to buy a 24 Tiguan S myself next week. Dealer asking 30K out the door.
9:41 did you see that beast in left handed mirror
The base model is the best model for the Tiguan. I hate capacitive panels like what’s found on higher trims
Yeah if you like small wheels and tons of unpainted plastic.
3rd row seats in a Tiguan is crazy. Reminds me of those 3rd gen rav 4s that had 3 rows
Glad they still kept the infotainment screen small. Not go with the B I G ahh iPad-looking screen in the middle nowadays.
With this golf 7.5 interior it’s no wonder it outsold the golf 8. And 8.5 It’s basically a golf 7.5 gti power plant with a de tune 8 speed , it’s a real shame the new 2025 loses the physical heater controls
180hp in a 2.0T is insane
My 2003 Celica makes 190hp out of a 1.8l naturally aspirated 4 banger, and revs to 8500rpm😂
Who cares, get a cheap tune and make it 230 hp, 270 lb/ft. Everyone wants the best of everything. I’m sure it only takes 87 octane gas while others making high 200’s takes 93.
@@Addison0526 My 2.0T in my Cadillac makes 280HP and you're right that it does require 93 (or whatever is considered premium in different areas).
I want to tune it to 300+, but I don't want to blow my engine. LTG engines are known to have weak pistons (I think).
Isn't that the same 2.0T as the entry level Camaros?@@XsaviXander
@@pieswimmer1 Yes, it is.
I'm gonna buy this one day!
I’ve driven 2 or 3 modern Volkswagens and the throttle + brake tuning has always been my biggest complaint. They make cars that do pretty well in their class with generally very smooth turbo engines and then give them lumpy throttle tuning and feather-light brakes, both of which are hard to modulate. Makes no sense to me.
Depends on the model. Throttle tuning, transmission tuning, and brake feel in the GTI/GLI is superb. The Taos, however, which I got as a loaner for a few hours, was exactly as you described.
@@GTI_Man this is fair, I would hope/expect a GTI to be good in those areas. I’ve driven current and last gen Jetta’s and a 2021 Passat, and they all had terrible tuning. It’s a shame because I tend to like everything else about the cars. The Jetta specifically is incredible on gas.
@@GTI_Man This, other than the low speed creep jerk that you need to get around, the GTI is fantastic in daily drive situation.
The throttle in my tuned GLI is still funky, makes it a little difficult to drive slowly.
I wish if there was the gear indicator turned-on in the display to get to know the shifts & corresponding rpms 🧐
Recently purchased a 2024 Atlas and this looks like a nice smaller version of the Atlas.
Great review. I'm surprised that the power train has so much pep! I look forward to your review of the new Chevy Equinox.
My 2010 Tiguan had a wonky throttle too, but in the opposite way. Once the turbos had some boost it lurched forward. So I wonder if they are trying to compensate for that effect here by making the initial bit of the pedal more aggressive.
Did you increased the video speed? Looks line 1.3x or smth
I sometimes drive a 2017 Atlas and the throttle is the same.. very touchy when you leave
i would love to buy a gold if this had the exact same interior, i need my knobs!
Great car, an unlike Hyundai or Kia, the motor won't blow up on you.
Nice car for the base model and price.
nice buttons are back! looks clean
Chris, thank you for noting the ingress/egress! My 2020 Outlander is not great to egress as the plastic lower trim under the door opening protrudes about 2” and always makes the back of the pants dirty when the car is covered with salt or mud.
I rented the Tiguan for the road trip once and it would be a great car, but the drivetrain is HORRIBLE. It's sluggish, almost no power, it uses 7-speed auto to push it forward so it's always hunting for gears, the transmission is jerky and you get 12mpg in the city. Don't buy this car. Seriously, it's a disastrous drivetrain. Other than that, it's the best crossover I've ever driven. Great handling and brakes, comfortable, quality interior, roomy and everything you'd want from a crossover. But the engine/transmission combo is just objectively bad.
It has an 8-Speed and if you got 12mpg you must have been flooring it the whole time.
Sounds like an airliner. Not really quiet to me. I will give it that it doesn’t sound like construction sites.
Excellent review. Does this come with the Auto Stop feature which turns off the engine at traffic lights. If so, can it be disabled at the start of each trip?
Also, are the rear passenger windows and rear window tinted?
One of my subscribers in Canada said that he has to buy a Volkswagen Tiguan for his dad, so he gets to drive the BMW sedan with his G2 license, is this vehicle safe to drive during the winter?
I don´t know, sometimes I´m feel like there would not have been way in this disabled life, always happen the same thing, and I question to me, what am I doing if I have no money??? if I have no job, if I can´t to get out to some different place?
I'd drive any VW over any Hyundai or Kia. Low hp or not, they drive a million time bettter. Also, better transmissions and the egine don't sound like it's gonna blow up when you hammer it like kias and hyundais
ive really wanted to do something like this for a living for a while and im curious, how would you get into something like this?
looks spacious
If you wanted to get a Rav 4 with some of these features It would be an easy Thirty Five to Thirty eight thousand dollars
I hated these things, drove 2020/2021 as rentals and they try to be sport hatchbacks (without the spirit and fun) and were not comfy as a CUV putter. Definition of identity crisis in a car.
Does it still have the BONG every time it hits 34 degrees F? Something about black ice forming.
Idk.. I haven't hit that cold yet in Florida but when it gets down to 40 it bongs and shows a snowflake.
Usually at 37 degrees, no?
39 degrees.
Solid vehicle. Good space, decently tight build…. questionable engines 😅😂 The 1.4s had almost the too much torque
Love Tiguan! But why do you have to Floor it!
Are the Volkswagen 4 cylinder turbos still as unreliable as they were in the 2012 era?
Fairly reliable, but do have issues with water pumps and PCV valves. Not major issues, but annoying flaws.
Had one of these for a rental for a week. The throttle off the line was SO ANNOYING.
simple tune and can get a lot more out that engine
Why do you need more?
@@gullible119 I need more. My Cadillac ATS coupe makes 280HP and that's not enough for me.
oof that interior got some 2014 vibes
Very nice!
4:10 sounds like toyota😂 throttle response
Not bad for the price, I guess.
Base Model = Just a Bunch of Blank Switches
the infotaiment is so 2005 xD just buy a old model you got the same for maybe 1/4 of price.
Fwd suv is gross just buy a sedan
Damn, this looks 2012 interior.
It still offers a good amount for the price though, you can get a Tiguan fully loaded but then you're paying over 40k, this base Tiguan is pretty good value for a under 30k crossover with 7 seats.
That’s when interiors were simple and timeless
I always recognize these FWD SUVs during winter by getting stuck absolutely everywhere, they're so useless.
If you live in a snowy climate and don’t know how to drive
@@resplendentwitticism I’ve hardly ever saw anyone with a crossover knowing how to drive.
meh. German reliability without the German feel. A Ford escape feels more european than this.
1😮
Н221😅н🎉😢😮 од Белый рэп про любовь я не о
This is my favourite compact crossover. Drives really nice, feels solid. I’d probably upgrade to a better trim for more features. Worlds better to drive than the RAV4.
