If your car GPS will allow you to input your vehicles specs and automatically comply with designated trucking routes for height restrictions, weight restrictions and dangerous goods routes (if applicable) etc then the safety aspect is mostly covered. If you're expected to travel new routes consistently, the convenience of having a GPS designed to provide you all truck related data and locations immediately after you input your destination, just might be worth your money.
