  • We are back at it again with another video on random video game repair. As a novice learning, -as I go on how to get Cartridge-based video games working again, from dirty contacts to broken traces. I am learning how to repair broken electronics as a novice.

    That chip was crazy... it would be awesome practice just to try grinding and adding wires :D

    Dang, that was crazy, I'm assuming it must have been damaged in the past and someone tried, and failed to fix it, and instead of actually getting rid of it in the trash they just, tossed it in that big batch you bought.

    Anyway I'd be interested to see you try and get at the innards anyway!

    idk if the pins are even fixable. those dont have much of a leg left. but, i say try anyway. whats the worst that can happen? You make it worse? It already is in bad shape.

      I know I'll have to grind some of the silicone away from the chip, but I think I've seen it done before. Although I'm not sure how deep I can go with the grinding.

    That looks like a lost cause. I would not try and fix it. Just save the board. Maybe if you find a GBA game with a bad board you can take the chip off the bad board and put it onto this board.

      You're Probably right, but I need the soldering price anyway, plus I like a good challenge :D
