The bond between Jim Kerr & Charlie Burchill is extraordinary & touching. Direction of the Heart, in at No. 4 in the charts this wk. Epic. Seems to be some debate/confusion in the music press about whether it's studio album No 18, 19 or 20. Depends on whether you include 1981's Sons & Fascination/Sister Feelings Call as 2 separate albums and whether or not you include 2016's Acoustic. Also, of course, there's Our Secrets Are the Same, only ever released as part of 2004's Silver Box, which could even take it to 21.
Charlie’s brother Jamie was a plumber living in Cardiff in the 1990’s. He fitted a new bathroom suite for us in 1992. Saw my guitars and asked if I played in a band and then casually mentioned that his brother was in a band…..Simple Minds. My wife and I were huge fans and have seen them many times over the years. They still cut it !!
Jim's got the promo skills down too. Slips the last question and changes back to the new album again. These two are great and soundtracked my 80's teenage decade
I wish the world would "Take a Step Back" Love you, guys. You hear it a all the time, but you helped this 56 year old through some very bright and dark days. God Bless You. Thankyou also to the poster.
You guys just don't realise what an impact you had in our lives. Your music was part of many many memories and with the new album lots more to come. We just REALLY REALLY wish you would come to South Africa as you have a MASSIVE following here. 👏👏💐💐
The best or one of the best bands ever. I am grateful they still make music and perform, especially considering all the awful noise and performers that the music industry is pushing for
@Paul Grogan i really appreciate this video! i've been a simple minds fan since the mid 1980's. it was so nice to hear from jim in this interview. the bugger is 63 and he has such a positive, kind attitude. just a great outlook on life. cheers 🍺from southern ontario, canada 🍁
Grande banda inglesa que amo suas musicas, musicos talentosos a essa voz marcante que passados decadas, meu gosto musical não mudou, graças a deus, viva Simple Minds......................
I absolutely love Simple Mind's... TORYGLEN boys done great.. I seen them live back in 2003 when I was 22 and were fantastic. Jim is one great entertainer and front man.. Love his little high kicks he does and his hand movement's ..best concert to purchase was live in Verona Italy. Totally blew me away.. But yeah became a fan around 2000 when I was 20..Love from up the road In East-Kilbride near Glasgow.. They have had so much great music it's difficult to pick but alot compare them to U2 but Simple Mind's are in my opinion a million time's better.. Hoping to see them again next time they tour Glasgow. Can't believe it's been like 20 years since I seen them.. Time sure flys by .lol Jim's still looking hot. x
I have always loved the band, excellent musicianship! i just wished we could all stop defining our lives by the 'pandemic', pre-pandemic' etc, as if nothing else went before it! i just wonder if that's a BBC prod so as we never forget!
My dad is Scottish and sounds very much like Charlie. In person (my dad)I can understand him no problem but when he rings me pissed up after the football no chance 😂
Simple minds are bloody fantastic say no more.

I grow up up with the band simple minds
It's refreshing to hear someone say they were looked after when young rather than being treated badly.

Probably still my No. 1 band for me, especially their early stuff, and in particular, Book of Brilliant Things.

They still make fantastic music. Very inspiring musicians!
One of my favourite bands. Fantastic songd and videos......
Thank you for still making great music, please don't stop.
I would listen to these stories forever and would love to go back to their teenage years and watch them form and grow musically

A legendary new wave 80s band, The Simple Minds. These guys WERE the 80s.!! I was fortunate to see them in Rotterdam.

Милые парни! Новый альбом - чудо!😍😍🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Mi banda preferida de los 80's👋👋👋
Love Simple Minds
Seeing Out The Angel from Sons And Fascination LP 1980, And Hunter and the hunted from New Gold Dream LP 1982 were Otherwordly like time travel.
Totally agree (except it was 81)😊
Top men ...topband ✌️✌️🇬🇧🇬🇧
Grande banda inglesa que amo suas musicas, musicos talentosos a essa voz marcante que passados decadas, meu gosto musical não mudou, graças a deus, viva Simple Minds......................
With respect their roots are Scottish, not English. Otherwise I agree with you !
@@WDH59510 Thanks for the correction.
They are Scottish señor, they are not English
Hard to believe Charlie is 70 in 7 years.
So will jim kerr he's in July
Put a huge smile on my face, Charlie and that white SG!

Saw them in 2006 in Birmingham when Black and white 050505 was released got close to the stage
Charlie never ages.
2023 bitte kommt nach Germany !!!!!
simple minds sums up the BBCs staff
Go away 🤡
Jim was born in July 1959 and Charlie in November of the same year. They should have been in different school years.
Strangest thing🤔I can understand their SING--ING🔮
Does Charlie ever get to speak?
My good how we have all aged
Full piano keyboard grill on Charlie
wooow, lets have a look,
Always thought jim back in the day was a dead ringer for Gary oldman!!!
Sometimes Bands go on too long.
I clicked on this for Mike Myers
Most talented band member was Forbes by a country mile. Sadly his face didn't fit - RANGERS fan ...their loss they never sounded the same again MUGS
What utter Shite
Sevco
Best base player ever. He WAS the music.
Here we go once again, can’t understand what he’s saying, I don’t think for one nano second he gives a toss what south of the border thinks.
Gone on for too long I'm afraid.
Do you think they should be doing deliveries for Just Eat instead ?
@@jonnobloggs8642 😂
But, for me, only them two without Mel and Derek It s almoust like another band; not the Simple Minds anymore.
You mean Mick and Derek.
Simple Minds went into decline after Derek Forbes, the best bass player in the UK at the time, left the band. They've never been the same since.
There amazing still
Direction of a fart was well promo’d there Jim. I just love the old stuff, sorry man.
40 years and still coming up with new ideas and melodys. Not a easy thing to do.
Not the same without Big Mel on the Drums.
Not the same without Brian McGee on the drums.
BBC Breakfast presenters are horrific.
I don't think I've ever understood one thing Charlie Birchall has ever said.
My thoughts exactly.😂
My dad is Scottish and sounds very much like Charlie. In person (my dad)I can understand him no problem but when he rings me pissed up after the football no chance 😂
Burchill
@@jimi4906 Guess they have an hard accent in Glasgow and a soft one in Edinburgh, hearsay/word of mouth.
I like his accent
Great band..
