We thousands upon thousands in the Philippines agree…..no spewing of anything personal…it is all about their brand of music that sounds enduring and endearing….
Met Neil Tennant in a record company press office when he worked for the old pop mag, Smash Hits. I remember him saying he’d formed a band. I was thinking, “Oh yeah, you, me, and every other wannabe. “What’s it called?” He said “The Pet Shop Boys.” And I’m thinking, yeah that’ll work. 🙄 But he made it happen, wrote some great songs, and is still going strong decades later. Hats off to him. 👍
So true. An interview with them encompasses great music, a laugh, and a history lesson all in one. I feel smarter after hearing a chat with Mr. Tennant. Such a literate and brainy fellow, and terrific songwriter to boot.
They are simply the best. Neil and Chris are just genius. Their sound is totally unique, it’s the chord progressions as Neil said and the great melodies they construct. Huge fan for 40 years. Thanks for posting.
These two have endured and continued to remain relevant for so long now that they've really entered the very upper echelons of all-time great pop bands. I can't think of but a handful of ahead of them, if that. And Love Is A Bourgeois Construct gets my vote for Pop Song of the 2010's.
The Petshop Boys were at record signing party at a Tower Records in Hollywood. I bought a vinyl version of West End Girls just to have them sign it. Great guys!
Chris' vocal on Paninaro, which he calls minor, happens to be one of my favourite ever PSB moments. Especially the '95 re-record where he sounds so passionate 🥰
Great they are.. Wonderful melodies and witty lyrics. They are part of my long life Music Background. And the latest album is well-crafted. Congratulations 🎉🎉🎉
Always amazing, innovative and "Never being boring"...I was lucky enough to see them when I was in the UK 1999...I wish you many more fabulous years! Thank you for all the songs I could make memories to in my life, you are an integral part....
That's a cool expression freedom through creativity. Amazing The Pet Shop Boys Neil and Chris still sound very young in their live performances and of course recorded. What strange happenings they have experienced.
Now this is a good interview ! These interviewers actually knew what they were talking about. Which helped Chris and Neil engage much more. Loved it. Better than that BBC Live night with that Nuffy interviewer. What a disappointment he was !
I can tell when Chris is nervous interviews he seems OK in this one but when they were on with Jonathan Ross for an interview after it finished he couldn't get off quick enough.. Bless him ❤Chris too bits bless him
Love them but love their older work up to ‘bilingual’ Not keen on the new album. But they’re always interesting conversationalists. Neil’s voice on the record needs some effects as they used to do with his vocals in the early days? But hey, it’s all good!
I don't know, which of them is which, but either Chris or Neil, who was the "Lead Singer" looks like I am now, in my 66th Year. With No Hair. The other guy always wore a cap like he does on here. Great Songs, Great Music from a much different era.
if paul doesn't mind me saying.... if you like Demos - remixes interviews .. or anything really regarding pet shop boys... i am back.... "PSB & SYNTH 2.0" Give us a go or a subscribe ...
@@John3.16saves I'm just saying that their sound hasn't evolved that much, compared to other bands. It's just my feeling, i don't know every song they wrote, but all those I know sound the same to me.
My god! Why are these tired people still lauded for their stale beats? They made one moderately decent track, one, years ago and here we/they are back again with that same old, reworked tired ol beat.

No tragedies, no scandal, no break ups - respect how they kept themselves grounded and honest all these years

That we know of. All we know is they could've paid a lot of money to keep things away from the public. We don't know if there's any drama or not.
@@stayfrostypatrick the truth will out ... heard nothing tbh

They are pop history. Worked with many other stars too . !

These guys are legends... been a fan since the 80's this new album is definitely a Breath of Fresh Air.. 2024. Please continue to create more music...
I have been a psb fan since I was 18 I am now 53 still a fan always will
This small chat is glimpse into why they've both remained this long in the industry.
Both down to earth, respectful.
So true. An interview with them encompasses great music, a laugh, and a history lesson all in one. I feel smarter after hearing a chat with Mr. Tennant. Such a literate and brainy fellow, and terrific songwriter to boot.
Perhaps one of their best telly interviews. Thanks for posting.
Still amazing, relevant and simply fabulous. As professional musicians as they come. Pure gold!!
They have never compromised. I truly respect this.
Pet shop boys have blazed a trail for decades. Remember buying the please album on the first release and never looked back
Lovely interview! Thank you. I think this is the most happy and engaged I’ve seen Chris in interviews
I was thinking the same exact thing!
Chris just doesn’t like celebrity bullshit - he finds it embarrassing. Speak to him like a human and he comes out of his shell.

I think Chris also does “Time On My Hands”
@@ok_roman I think you're right 😁 Plus there's the hidden track on "Very" called "Postscript (I Believe in Ecstasy)
In my opinion It's the best work they've done in years. Some really cracking songs.
Been a fan since the start new album is superb .top interview top guys legends to me .. keep going Please
LOVE PSB since I was a child. Thanks for the magical concert yesterday in Santiago de Compostela ❤ unforgettable!
Come back to do shows in Japan! It's been 5 long agonizing years! I need my PSB fix, NOW!
Amazing interview! I wish I lived in the UK so I could go to the shows! 💙👍🏼
they're up early! [he usually gets out of bed, at half past ten...]
Left to their own devices, they probably would.
Excellent, both of you 😊

I love these guys! They're always brilliant.
Chris seems like a Morning guy :D He seemed more chatter than other interviews :D What lovely guys ;) PSB4Ever;)
Maybe he just hadn't been to bed yet.
PSB will always be great, unique and i will always follow them.

Brilliant stuff! As a fellow alumni, I love hearing about Chris' time at Liverpool Uni. Thanks for posting.
The Best! Can't wait to see you tomorrow!
Neil have magical voice nobody can have ❤❤
as a casual dude i Havent seen these guys since i was a kid in the 80's...
the clock is ticking😮
One of the coolest 80s sounds: PSB.
DM, PSB and Erasure.
No way can a man of 70 have the same voice as 40 years ago. Alot of smoke and daggers in their live performances. Am a fan........
Neil isn't a perfect singer and he knows that. He has a characteristic voice and that makes him stay to earth.
Buster Keaton/ Anna Wintour laughing? I love the new album.
I think Chris also performs vocals on “Time on my hands”.
I can tell when Chris is nervous interviews he seems OK in this one but when they were on with Jonathan Ross for an interview after it finished he couldn't get off quick enough.. Bless him ❤Chris too bits bless him
just picked up the high resolution Blu-ray audio🙌🏼
Well done :)
I just did too. You get a bit of Loneliness instrumental on the intro screen. I'd love to hear all the instrumentals
I have aways liked The Pet Shop Boys, there music is happy and upbeat, music you can tap your feet to and clap to.
They are greatest
Great interview and at 3.36 I'm there at the ROH
Its remarkable and enchanting to see Chris L. getting sort of jolly (not Basil Fawlty type of happy😅) as he ages...
King of 80,s 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Must be all the Swifties descending lol.
Chris at home in Salford
Chris doesn’t say much but he’s a funny guy when he speaks.
I knew Chris has the music on a screen to play off of bit i didnt know he needed the words to Paninaro 😂
Food, cars, travel 😂
# 2 in the UK album chart
Chris is talking!
Excuse me? Did Chris actually enjoy that???? Its a first! 😄❤
Morning sir,,! Hello everybody! Its....a Sin.....it a Sin....?😂

Wow they didn't hold up very well. They died in the US in the 80s I can't believe they made music still

Крис с годами намного более открытым стал
That thumbnail is unkind.
Love when they get political with their songs. Like Give Stupidity a Chance.
To put ourselves out there? I beg your pardon..😅
15 albums is incredible, especially considering the kind of music they make seems frozen in time. in the 80s, that is. not everybody's cup of tea.
What about "Electric" or "Super" they're not 80s!
@@John3.16saves I'm just saying that their sound hasn't evolved that much, compared to other bands. It's just my feeling, i don't know every song they wrote, but all those I know sound the same to me.
Neil looks really ill.Chris looks like Chris.
I hate it when people wear sunglasses during interviews. Also caps.
It's his image...he's always worn both a cap and sun glasses.
he's been doing it for 40 years love
Where have you been? He’s been wearing the same thing for 40 years? 🤷🏽♂️🤦🏽
He is a reluctant pop star
He never wears anything else he hides behind them as he doesn’t really enjoy the celebrity and fame side of being a pop star it’s just who Chris is
Heavy record with his weak voice LMFAO
Oh they got old
you have no talent for writing comments; try a different hobby.
The pet shop boys???? The pet shop old men 😂😂😂😂😂
Neil is a real name dropper, arrogant and phony as always.
The group SUCKED

To which "one" track are you referring? One of their many hits or those with Dusty Springfield or Liza Minnelli or David Bowie that spring to mind ? 🤔
