    one important fact is that since Steve smith relies on his eye hand coordination (heavily) as you age , these reflexes get slower and that is something which is hurting Steven smith I guess .

    He doesn't trust his eyes anymore, it is clear as to why he cannot flick. His hand eye coordination is greatly slowing down and for a bowler - 140 kmph will do the job. Either he becomes a traditionalist in his technique or he tries to play his shots again, his unorthodox technique's pitfalls are finally catching up.

    To add to what has been mentioned is that someone like steve Smith is very reliant on hand eye coordination and it's very common that the players who rely on hand eye coordination tend to deteriorate faster than textbook batters one of the examples for that can be sehwag, one of the best batsman with hand eye coordination but even he played his last match at the age of 34.

      @@aritra-1337 Bro the movement and reflexes of him as he is ageing and body muscles slow down with age due to the slowing down of life processes like sending messages to brain.
      Smudge just cant react that quickly now and to play his best shot{flick} he cant judge the length to play the flick shot as he experienced during the 2020 NZ series where Wagner got him many times,that flick isnt the solution for every ball on the leg side and he has to judge the length to play the flick shot.
      Now his muscles have slowed down ,he cant pick the length anymore,is reluctant to play the flick shot,and now has very less scoring shots.
      Plus with the trigger movement he has{back and cross} he cant play a defensive front foot shot at full balls{which he is doing now}
      So with detoriation of hand and eye coordination he cant play straight and neither can he flick {due to ageing and lack of confidence}
      Therefore he cant score and is in double minds .
      The solution to this is only where he stops moving back and cross and just practice to leave the ball and also trust his shots by smashing every loose ball possible and yes he will be all back .
      Cant really see a legend like Smudge falling like that
      Hope he comes back

    Steve Smith is going through what Dhoni and Sehwag went through late in their career. Lack of reflex in hand-eye coordination.

    I can sense one thing about Steve Smith is that he had a very unusual stance and batting posture but now when he shuffles his eyesight looks a bit weak therefore his reflexes have been weaker because of his increasing age and that's troubling him and he can't get to another technique because he is the one who has always practiced his own technique
    HIs hand eye coordination has gotten weaker which has actually made a huge difference in his making offer runs and why has it gone weaker because of his increasing age

Was reluctant at first as you blatantly slammed one of the greats of this generation but the analysis of his unusual yet effective technique was on point. I am curious to know your take on his dip in form after his 2019 ashes comeback. NZ took the bodyline approach which gave them success which triggered our former bowling coach, Bharat Arun to follow the same in the next tour and we had a similar legside field setup and since then his strike rate(which does not matter in tests) has also significantly dropped along with his average. And is his head falling in the recent years more compared to his peak? I am great admirer of the game and love your efforts to bring this type of in depth cricket analysis to the general public. I'm a huge fan of Steve Smith. I've been watching him for a long time and I really admire his batting technique. To me, he is the GOAT of Test cricket. For a while, I felt no one was close to him in Test cricket. However, his performance has declined in the past few years, and it seems like his confidence has taken a hit. But I believe we will see prime Steve Smith in the upcoming Test series against India. I love watching Virat Kohli and Smith compete, scoring big runs. Hoping he finds his form back soon.

    But now he is Missing the straight balls getting out LBW and while trying to not do this is edging to slips and getting out on the bouncer..

    It's really sad for Indian fan who has been a Steve Smith fan or someone who was scared of Steve Smith in 2015 and now from 2016 onwards becoming his complete fan and seeing such a downfall it's very shocking and sad I still remember those days especially from 2014 or 2015 when I as a young Indian fan used to be scared of Steve Smith because I still remember each and every game against India beat in India beat in Australia be a test beat one day whatever it was Steve Smith was always there on the front punching Indian bowlers smashing Indian bowlers all around the park and troubling us can clearly remember the 2015 semi final 100 which he has scored also can remember almost every innings in which he had troubled shmi and Bhuvaneswar an Indian bowlers never used to have answer for his batting style and today he is getting dismiss so often without even troubling the scores it's very sad
    I have been a Steve Smith and just because of his trigger movement and unorthodox batting style I always used to tell my friends that we are coaches always tell us that you should bat in a particular manner head position should be in particular style your feet should be in particular position and then you see Steve Smith not following a single cricketing rule still ruling the cricketing world with average over 62 or something like that it's pretty sad to see Steve struggling like this 😢😢 I want to see his come back I want to see him again getting closer to average of 60 I want him to again do the trigger movement for what he was actually famous for I want him to play as long as he want and to score as much as he can all the best treatment for your future and especially for this series because if he fails miserably in this series I don't think he has any chance of coming back because we know how Harsh Australian selection committee can become after a point of time 😢

    Playing with a straight bat is just not enough, there is hardly any forward press..most of the balls he is just caught in the crease...that plus a potential slowness in reaction times

    Tbh, your “career ending” genre seems a bit too popular for my liking. You might be praying for the downfall of some good cricketers at this point.
