Saw this lineup in person. Great band. One of the great pleasures of attending a Charles Lloyd concert is watching him enjoy his band and shaking the castanets. Another are his band introductions and his banter with the audience. He's remarkable. The last tune before the encore, 'Sombrero Sam' is particularly fine.
In the early days of Charles' career I thought he was overrated and pretentious but either he or I (or both ) have evolved to the point where I genuinely consider him to be a major creative musician. This is a wonderful upload -thank you.
The last august i've had the pleasure are in Birdland (NYC) looking Billy Hart Quartet
Indéniablement un concert et des musiciens exceptionnels !
Magnifique Mark Johnson !! Amazing harmonical cover-up
RIP John Abercrombie! One of the greats!
Marc Johnson is a monster in the middle of all the beauty!!!!

Beautiful and lyrical. Charles and the group are feeling every note.

Odd, I long for the days of Gabor Szabo and Chico Hamilton.
@@jamesbunning1415 Real artists don't look back. And Charles is a real artist.
Charles is legendary and John just blazes everything with that guitar; excellent concert. Wish I was there........
Missing John …. ….
For sure. I love his sound here, and his solo piece begining around 1:00. It's the sound he was getting on his November album in 93.
So great to hear the real deal greats playing wonderfully! RIP John
He was with Charles Lloyd between 99 and 02... legend

Apparently it is from June 10, 2000.
Gosh, 22 years ago already? 😮Seems like yesterday. Where does the time go?
Concordo, Aloysio!!!

Hard to see how Forest Flower (1966) would be overrated.
very well
Any1 know what year this was?
10 years JazzBaltica = 1991 -> 2001
wtf was that clip that slipped in
I wonder how many hats Charles goes through a year.
Mr Drew lips.... more than the Pope
Since 1982 - the first year records were kept - he's averaged 23 per year.
@@christophercharles9645 and the dearly departed Queen?
lol 1:54
Charles Lloyd = overrated ! Random pentatonic minor scales all around all the time with out of tune sound.
You seem to have random thoughts in your brain.... John Coltrane used pentatonic scales a lot, FYI....
