I was in my twenties, and a female computer nerd. I fell in love and never fell out. Too bad you didn’t understand the point, which is of course that Headland has so little regard for something she allegedly believes saves her life, that she could maliciously and with intent write something so antithetical to Star Wars values.
@@casaagogo2573 Great to hear you're still loving Star Wars. I could not disagree with you more on your Leslye Headland comment. To me The ACOLYTE feels as much a part of Star Wars as any other project but I do get it some fans aren't digging it.
I'm a big Star Wars book fan. Do I love every single Star Wars book that has been written, no, but anything I don't like I just put to one side and think "not for me" but I know there are plenty of fans out there that do love it.
That's the way I feel fans should treat The ACOLYTE, if they don't like it, just say it's not for them, but this barrage of hate (I'm not insinuating you're one of them) and personal attacks some fans are making at the creators I feel is harmful and does not help anyone.

The writing and dialogue are completely subpar. Only a couple of the actors are actually good. The logistics of scenes and physics are completely lacking. The trees fell in the wrong direction, for Pete’s sake! Sorry, fortunately it’s just not good.

There is nothing in the Acolyte that wasn't in second trilogy and other later the franchise movies and shows. The franchise turn into Star Track and Lucas started it, it's not Star Wars anymore long time ago.

Hi, the helmet is not Beskar, it is has a Cortosis weave. Cortosis has the property to disrupt/short out lightsabres. This material appeared in the Expanded Universe is difficult to fabricate, though through Sith Alchemy it may be created.
I read about in a long time ago in the Dark Side Sourcebook for a version of the Star Wars TTRPG under Wizards of the Coast. At least they got that right, the mind shielding property of the helmet though, that is not what Cortosis does.
Other than that, it's a play on culture of not being to express ersatz casual homosexuality, represented by the Sith.

One thing that they could do, which is burrowing from a better story, would be to have it that the Ezra Sith is not a real sith. He is a copycat sith. Basically, strong in force, reads the lore around the sith, identifies as sith, etc. So the Jedi get all wound up thinking its the sith come back.
Then have the real sith, who has been hiding, hear the news of this new sith, get a bit pissed off, meets up and kills the Ezra sith, and makes it clear that the Ezra Sith was just a copycat. Jedi turn up, don't know the specific lightsaber weilder who killed Ezra, but they realise he was just a copy cat and so in their records they simply mark it down as a fallen jedi or whatever.
But that is still stupid because then when Darth Maul shows up, they would say, What, Another Copy Cat Sith?
More stupid because it is firmly established that this takes place within living memory, so you can just say, Sidious or whoever tampered with the Digital records.

The funny thing is, when I heard him give that speech about rules. I just want to be me etc. I said, “omg, are you serious. The Sith are gay people. Wow, she really wrote the Sith this way.” I already knew the Jedi were the oppressors but once he made that speech. It all came full circle to what this is. Then I wondered how many other people caught on to that. If someone would’ve said back in 1977. That one day, this is what Star Wars would be. Girl boss padawan fighting better then knights and Masters, who then don’t really use much force powers. Come on man! Why are the Jedi so “weak”? This was supposed to be there pinnacle. Why is this Sith apprentice more powerful than any other George Lucas Sith?

Worked in hollyweird briefly from 2004-2010 and the writing of plot and character arcs while relying on the underpaid and over worked art department for bells and whistles to cover up the script writers lack of abilities.
Hollywood has just gone to absolute shite since.
That fight was one of the best live action lightsaber duels in Starwars history. I love Sol and the Sith. That sith turned that Jedi into a living triforce symbol. It just goes to show us, this could have been amazing if they didn’t ruin it with the terrible story. They should delete episodes 1-4. And just start start from this battle and make it about Sol avenging his padawon.

Up to this point the witches and Darth Teeths/Smilo Ren/Quasimir and Mae are all acting more or less evil. Mae sounds most of the time like beeing brainwashed and Smilo, although overpowered, doesn't seem to be the brightest candle on the cake. My helmet prevents me from you reading my mind? Don't tell that to your enemy! I have no name? I just want to use my powers as i like? For killing, maybe? Why should the Jedi say something against it? I still hope he is just a kind of puppet used by the real master of evil.
So until further notice, the Jedi are still the good guys. Well, maybe except Vernestra, who seems to hide something. They may have made a mistake, but they're not evil.
Sith being overpowered is not a new idea. The concept is that they let loose the darker emotions without restraint and this gives them unusual power. the problem being that they tend to burn out and self destruct. hence the "rule of two". So that isn't a problem.
A single sith taking out a bunch of Jedi, again, not against the lore. Remember the scene where 4 MASTERS get taken out by one sith? These jedi were unprepared for this kind of fight. they didn't expect the cortosis, and they didn't expect this guys fighting style, hence he ran right through them. It makes more sense than 4 battle hardened masters who have been training to get ready for a sith lord being caught off guard.
The fight was good, probably one of the best I've seen in star wars so far. I think you guys are being way too hard on the show. Leslie Headlund acting like an obnoxious retard is probably 50% of why people are digging on the show. The other 20% is that the writing is a bit lazier than it should be. 20% is because it's annoying gay propaganda, and the final 10% is because star wars is goofy in general.
The reveal was fine. Seriously guys. Star Wars, remember? We aren't talking Game of thrones.
As for Sith being a stand in for gay people in the show - no kidding. duh. But this idea of passion being overly repressed by the Jedi is actually a constant in Star Wars. The war of Xendor was specifically bc the Jedi overreacted when Xendor tried to create an open Jedi academy on Lettow.
Extremes in behavior the question of Order vs Chaos is an old one. It's a part of the human condition. Saying Jedi cause the problems they are trying to solve is not a new concept, remember prohibition?
The goofy action of not killing the bad guy is again normal for Star Wars. It's goofy. It's meant for 12 year olds.
The way osha got rid of darth smiley was again normal. Darth smiley surviving is also normal for the show.

5:35 I respectfully disagree. They weren't presenting us with the fact that Jedi are bad. They were telling us but showing nothing of a kind. It is as if they want Jedi to be bad but don't know how to do it. And this is understandable. Jedi can't be evil, or they become Sith. But spinning a convincing story where they do bad things without realising it would be too much work and require skill. Those hacks do not possess.
Yeah, the usual nonsensical stuff in the episode. At the end though, I thought that Sith guy knew it was Osha and not Mae who he found. He would've recognized her shorter hair no?..plus if he thought it was Mae he would've just killed her as that was what he tried to do earlier...but of course, I could just be misinterpreting the terrible writing in the show. :P
I wholeheartedly support a dark side story. Sith, dark side user, even an asshole bounty hunter. But. There not really the “good guys” lol
I also hate how they have sullied the good name of the Jedi. Another thing... I'd be interested to know how many Jedi the showrunners think are running around the galaxy. There aren't so many that they would ever be an "oppressive force." The show could have been interesting if done as an actual mystery, minus the twin characters, of a few Jedi going missing over a period of time and someone send Sol and company to check it out. Leave Sith out of it, have it be a fallen Jedi or something from Sol's past. You could even leave it open at the end showing that this former fallen Jedi had a secret apprentice... that could tie into the reemergence of the Sith.
There is such an untold story there of the Sith slinking around and doing shit without being caught, I just wish we had someone competent enough to tell those stories. Ah well, guess I got some good ideas for our next SW Saga campaign.
I preferred Ep1 and 2. The show feels like a school play... I must be too old for this ;-)

Throwing a torch onto what appears to be the most deadly assassin in the galaxy and then having him completely helpless and carried off by giant moths must have been thought up on drugs. That clip had me howling. The contrivances crowbarred into this show are hysterical.

The haircut thing was easily one of the dumbest scenes I’ve seen period, from the hair magically being a different length than it was the whole show (she did have a few long strands of hair but not nearly as much as she did when she cut it off), the overly dramatic pose and music when she does it, the fact that she switched up on Osha after she just said not even an hour before she was swapping sides and turning herself in, and so much more lol
Of course they want to make this about going against religion....🙄
Maybe this show is called the Acolyte because it’s from the point of view of a dark side force user? It would explain why it portrays the Jedi as “bad guys”.

I think they are trolling the audience at this point. Stuff like the haircut, the nitpicks about the light saber fight, other nitpicks about inconsistencies… I think they legitimately don’t care about these things and only telling the story with the broadest of brushstrokes. There’s gonna be a theme at the end to tie the story altogether, but all the little details and inconsistencies don’t matter to the creators of this show.

Smilo will try to convert Ohsa to the dark side but she will girl boss him to death and die too because it was really hard and her love interest Jeckie died at his hands. Sol and Mae will redeem each other somehow through the shared denial of responsibility for actions and she will become his new Padawan. Sol will cover everything up to protect Mae's new identity as Ohsa. A theory so dumb it just might come true.

Well that was kind of the idea in the prequels, and what Anakin and Bariss believed. Even Ahsoka left the Jedi Order, because she wasnt sure the Jedi were doing the right thing in the Clone Wars.
