    This is a brilliant tutorial for all who are transitioning from ICE to EV -- particularly those who never drove automatic. • @ekzotic1
    @ekzotic1 2 года назад +1

    I wonder how brakes work on this car. It obviously has engine braking and normal disc brakes and they should feel different, also engine braking mean you brake with 2 wheels rather than 4 which can be tricky in winter. And if you overlap engine braking and disc brakes it could lead to wheel lock up. Engine braking also mean it can have interesting effects in low grip similar to what you get when you try to accelerate too fast and you get 1 wheel spinning/1 wheel stationary (without diff lock).

    • @johnnyswildlife4119
      @johnnyswildlife4119 2 года назад

      There are 2 discs, and 2 clutch brakes. Back wheels are most of the time the clutch ones, front-disc brakes. About the slipping during the winter, most of the electric cars have ESP and ABA, that are preventing wheel lock up and overall mess when in specific conditions.

    • @ConquerDriving

      You can if you like, nothing against it. But most people are not used to using their right foot for the brake and it's possible to press both pedals at the same time which is really bad.

    Regen accounts to about 30% of your range around town. My quick advice is to regen the most and avoid friction brakes like the devil.

    • @ConquerDriving
      @ConquerDriving  2 года назад

      The trouble with not using the brakes is they will corrode and won't be ready when you need them.

    • @markharding44
      @markharding44 11 месяцев назад

      @@ConquerDriving FYI most if not all EVs will fade the friction breaks in to bring you to a complete stop this is to prevent dirt and corrosion building up on the discs.
      Also most EVs have at least one set of drum breaks.

    it’s a very helpful video for an EV. But, I have one question about the car you are driving. If that is a Mazda then it is not really a fully functional EV. Mazda do not make a fully functional EV at this or from what I am hearing are interested in producing them. That is therefore a hybrid that you are driving. Correct?.

    • @artemkatelnytskyi

      I don't see the need to put it in neutral. If anything you will be less ready in case of an emergency. In some EVs a parking brake engages automatically when you come to a halt.

    • @johnnyswildlife4119
      @johnnyswildlife4119 2 года назад +2

      No neutral needed. Only brake, and some of the newer models has automatic handbrake on. If ones want to save more energy, you can turn off the "engine". Most of the electrics have very fast on/off.
