Ya know what would've been nice? In "Edward Strikes Out", Edward is intrigued by Rocky cause he's never seen anything like him, and maybe after Gordon is rude to Rocky, maybe Edward could puff up to Rocky and say "Take no notice of him, Rocky. He's just a big blue stick in the mud. Believe me, I know."
I would change the episodes on this DVD to make it better: 1: Percy and the Carnival 2: Thomas and the Jet Plane 3: Big Strong Henry 4: It’s Good to Be Gordon 5: Emily and the Special Coaches 6: James the Second Best Also I would get rid of the learning segments completely.
And based on what we got on this DVD, we’re really not missing much. Even though, admittedly, I did get this DVD not realizing how bad things were going to get.
I will admit there are some good stories on the DVD. But I remember the best ones for me are 'Percy & the Funfair', 'Thomas & the Birthday Mail, 'A Smooth Ride' and 'The Green Controller'. I have this version of the dvd as well as the UK one. I took my copy to a comic con last year and met Michael Brandon. He signed it for me 😁.
22:33 I know this instrumental when you were talking about Thomas’ Frosty Friend. It’s the Instrumental Version of Gayla Peevey’s I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas (Hippo the Hero)
Carnival Capers really was terrible, but I'm glad James And The Red Balloon is next. And just in case James And The Red Balloon - VHS REVIEW doesn't come out on July 18th, Happy Early Birthday, Tay!
Oh my freaking god!! This review was one hell of a “roller coaster” pun intended! The majority of episodes were completely pointless, bland or an absolutely piece of s**t! 🤬 The only episode I would care for is A Smooth Ride because of Sir Handel’s return but they could have written him better like from the classic series! But the rest of the episodes like Strikes Out or Frosty Friend simply don’t need to exist or be written differently! 😒 But on a brighter note, I’ll be looking forward to James and the Red Balloon DVD for your birthday coming up Tay! 😀🎈
Green Controller’s climax was gonna be a bit more violent; Percy’s stupidity was supposed to cause a 3 engine pileup. The signalman was too busy laughing at James’ 🐝 livery to set the signal properly causing James and Gordon to run into each other, followed by Toby who’s pulling the express rear ending James. 1 thing I thought of to improve Frosty Friend is Thomas immediately notices the ⛄️ 🎈attached to him but due to time constraints must do his other jobs before returning the 🎈, while facing distractions and unwanted attention from having it attached.
I remember watching The Green Controller as a kid and thinking it was a creative episode idea. Then I revisited the episode and found its another run-of-the-mill Hit era story. Now, I'll admit this story I feel is average, a 5/10 story, but then again there's nothing to write home about. Another good review, Tay.
The Worst Part of Frosty Friend that always gets me is that Thomas clearly doesn’t see the Ropes of the Balloon when it’s in front of him! Like, how blind are you?!
I’ve always hated this DVD since I was a kid. Every single episode on this release is bad (Especially The Green Controller, Edward Strikes Out and………….THAT EPISODE!!!!!! 😡😡😡)
As a quick warning, part of this video is me ranting, and this is a long comment, so my biggest apologies… Oh my! I remember seeing the British trailer, which had a different episode selection, and used the US DVD cover in the version I watched! Also, the British DVD did have learning segments, different ones, but had them in the bonus features. The British version had: Thomas and the Jet Plane, Percy and the Funfair, Thomas’ Tricky Tree, Toby’s Afternoon Off, Emily and the Special Coaches, Seeing the Sights, and Thomas and the Shooting Star. The learning segments we had were a Dot to Dot of a certain character, Percy’s Story, Help from your Friends and Treasure Map or Percy’s Treasure. As for the US DVD, as much as I can tolerate it, a lot of the stories could have easily been made as part of the original series, it’s kind of ironic how the only Narrow Gauge episode on here, is the best of the bunch. I don’t mind some of the episodes, but they definitely deserve better rewrites, which easily could have fixed them to be better than they were… For Edward Strikes Out in particular, I definitely would keep Edward comforting Rocky, however, give Rocky a first episode, where he’s being arrogant at first, until humbled by and accident, then helped thanks to Edward, and after that, as an engine, have me being the one insulting a majority of the engines in the next part, including Gordon, even combining the events of Edward Strikes Out, Edward and the Mail, Thomas and the Lighthouse, and Percy and the Carnival/Funfair. Basically, also have me start off as a complete jerk to most, including Controller Man, only to eventually be humbled, due to many unforeseen circumstances, with even The Fat Controller chastising me due to my poor attitude, as while it wouldn’t work for most young audiences, it would be good for them to learn, that you can never get away with anything, if you cause so much pain on others. And yes, I do think there are better ways to write some of the stories, which could have redeemed them in more ways than one. As a side note, I do still like Edward, but I like a lot of the characters equally, despite several misdirections. If Mattel had gotten something right, they didn’t make that reboot canon to the original series, thank goodness… Sorry if I ranted once more, but I’m glad I had a few decent ones when I was younger. Even Engines and Escapades was somewhat fairly decent, which was the only Season 11 DVD released for both regions, and focused on the Narrow Gauge Railway. It’ll be exciting to see the red balloon release around your birthday, so this will be exciting! Anyway, good on you for reviewing this release, now we can get something much more decent! Once more, great review, and hope to see you next time! 😄

My head canning for the green controller is that Topham was actually either really drunk or really high, so that’s the actual reason he couldn’t control, and since he was not in his right state of mind, he chose Percy, but he could have chose Edward.
I don't mind The Green Controller, it's not exactly easy tryin to remember somethin, Percy just made a mistake, but with Thomas' help, he was able to fix it.

Hey, Taylor! Just finished watching your latest Thomas DVD review! Considering that most of these episodes were likely written by Sharon Miller, i don't blame you for not recommending it! Except for the end of Percy and The Funfair with The Chinese Dragon cameo, nothing good is on this DVD! Looking forward to your next review! Zak.
I used to own Carnival Capers several years ago, but after a while (especially when seeing how less memorable these episodes are), I sold it off. It's ironic that since 10 is my favorite number, for a Season 10 - it's far from being good (least Douglas and Diesel 10 are the much better acquaintances of said number). I don't care much for Rosie either, she's just an overrated character in my opinion - she just falls under that marketing scheme of being labeled as a main character, when she's really not and was wasted twice! Also, her OG persona of her idolizing Thomas is just pretty much stalking (works fine in other shows like Joey and Willow in Liv & Maddie cause their awkward relationship was slowly developed over the course of the show before it becomes earned as 'Jillow'. Here, it doesn't work for Thomas and Rosie). While she didn't do that much in CGI, at least I can tolerate her than what HiT portrayed her in this era. I'm more neutral towards A Smooth Ride than any of the other episodes, it's nice to see Sir Handel return (but I'll admit him taking Skarloey and Rheneas' role of being the wise engine of the Narrow-Gauge fleet isn't what he's meant to be. If he was mature but still gets a little grumpy, then he would've been fine). I like how he was actually given a backstory of why he was absent in the show after S4 unlike the other returnees later especially in the CGI Series (even if working in the quarry all summer was a bit far-fetched considering the many seasons he was nowhere in sight). Also, the scene of the Percival couple in the coach is kinda funny (oh and look at that, we inexplicably got a mention of Culdee Fell outside the Railway Series, then again we had Culdee Caves mentioned in S9). Also, S10 and 11's episodic releases were never fully on home media in the US which makes it very strange (S8 and 9 are kinda the only HiT seasons who's episodes are fully completed on VHS and DVD).
Oy this DVD is the epitome of the worst of the HiT era and Season 10 as a whole nothing but boring and bad episodes i even have bad memories of a fan recreation of Green Controller but with James -_-
As much as I love Season 10, the episodes in this release aren't that great (looking at you, Thomas' Frosty Friend and Edward Strikes Out). Also, I find The Green Controller + James' 'busy bee' livery kinda funny.
Carnival capers (But Better) 1. Percy and the carnival 2. Thomas and the jet plane 3. Big strong Henry 4. Thomas’ tricky tree 5. James the second best 6. Thomas and Skarloey’s big day out Learning Segments 1. Guess the engine : Edward 2. Who can take them 3. Clever Percy 4. Right Sized Engine For The Job Songs : 1. Favorite place 2. Engine roll call
Interestingly the UK version of Carnival Capers has a completely different selection of episodes with the exception of Percy and the Funfair (or Carnival for you guys in America).
Hey Yami Tay. I was wondering if I can use that Look at the Puppies Music Video for one of my videos? I'm actually planning on doing a short for my channel and I thought that the Look at the Puppy sketch was hilarious that I wanna put it in just for the laughs.

Thank god that's over, if I had to see one more bad episode in this DVD, I would throw it out the window, though I will admit, I kinda have a guilty pleasure with A Smooth Ride, but other episodes are just awful.
Besides, we didn't even get any Thomas Valentine things until the Valentine's in Vicarstown book and Valentine cards. Hell, we didn't even get a Valentine's Day episode until S23. 😡
There is only 1 decent episode on this release: The Green Controller. That was literally the only episode I found enjoyable and interesting when I was a kid 😠
Percy and the carnival: 0.5/10 Thomas and the birthday mail: 4.5/10 A Smooth Ride: 3.5/10 The Green Controller: 0.5/10 Edward Strikes Out: 0/10 Thomas’ Frosty Friend: 0/10 DVD As A whole: 1.5/10
IMO, this release is trash. It’s honestly not that memorable either. Pretty much all the episodes all this release suck, ESPECIALLY the last 3 episodes. I personally don’t mind the song There’s always something new. It’s not my favorite song of the hit era but I like it. As always, great job on your reviews Tay. I can’t wait for your review of James and the Red Balloon. Ps: Happy Birthday Tay
I am one of the few who actually loves the HiT era, but this is probably the worst HiT era DVD. Honestly, only "A Smooth Ride" and "Edward Strikes Out" are good, in my opinion (yes, I know "Edward Strikes Out" is bad, I think if it was James or someone else, it would be a good episode, but because Edward needs a mandatory lead role this season, I can look past this, and I'm glad this episode made it on a release because it shows the introduction of Rocky, and like Freddie and Jeremy, people, like me, who didn't watch the PBS airings, wouldn't know who he was), but this was also one that I rarely watched after I got it. Hell, I completely forgot "Thomas' Frosty Friend" was on this release, and, as I watch "Holiday Express" around Christmas every year, I thought that it and "Henry's Lucky Day" were exclusive to that release. That's how forgetful this release is (but also maybe because "Frosty Friend" is one of the worst episodes of the show, so I forgot that it was on a release). The UK version is way better, with only sharing one episode being the same on the UK version ("Percy And The Carnival"/"Funfair")
Edward is one of the best characters in Thomas and Friends because he's EDWARD. He's the best engine there is and ever was. The problem here was it was the HiT era. HiT Entertainment couldn't ever figure out how to do anything right (except by complete accident). In this era, everyone got screwed over in one way or another, including Edward. Thankfully later Eras brought the true Edward back.
No offense, but I don’t think Edward is that great. I’m not saying I hate him or anything. I just don’t LOVE him like everyone else does because his character and story arc falls flat after Season 2 and he becomes very uninteresting. That’s just my opinion
@@yamitay9258 With all due respect, Edward is that great because he just keeps going. The writers simply lost their imagination with Edward. No other character could have pulled off that great Exploit. Edward is the true number 1 of the railway. Edward teaches that just being kind, being yourself, and not giving up are the best qualities to have. For all the stuff Thomas does, he'll never be Edward the Great.
@@yamitay9258 By the way, I love your channel. Never the less, the real problem was Hit Entertainment. Every character fell flat in the Hit Era. They should have interviewed fans and asked them about what made Thomas and Friends such a great show. The Thomas Bible would have been very different. Instead they bumbled around with something they didn't understand and tarnished Thomas' great legacy. Ironically, so many Hit Era episodes are the same story over and over again about asking for help and how it's good to do so, but those in charge of HiT never did. Ironic.
@@yamitay9258, honestly, I still think he’s great in certain cases, in particular, the classic era up to Season 5, though Season 2 was definitely his strongest. But Moreso, fans have done so much better with Edward in their stories!
@@yamitay9258 i know you do. by the way, i can't wait for the james and the red balloon vhs review after your birthday sometime. happy early birthday, by the way, tay.

Percy & the Carnival: A very boring Percy acts like an idiot episode. The only positive is how hard he works in the end. 2/10 Thomas & the Birthday Mail: Boring but not the worst of the Thomas acts like an impulsive idiot episodes. 3/10 A Smooth Ride: Boring episode, I like that they brought Sir Handel back but I wish he didn’t replace Skarloey & Rheneas as the old wise one. 3.5/10 The Green Controller: Not a bad story concept but the way this is written is incredibly stupid. 3/10 Edward Strikes Out: An all time stinker, In my opinion the worst example of a character being untrue to themselves. 0/10 Thomas’ Frosty Friend: Another all time stinker. As Boring & stupid as it gets. 0/10
You know what something weird I remember and the songs or sodor game great destination when sir toppen hatt introduced the characters he said Edward is the older and wiser engine but oh the hit era still ignore that

I mean if you want to see me frustrating myself on the first class stories DVD, floors opened I'm just sayin'.
First Class Stories? I have seen information on this one, and while the classic series episodes are great, they should have really made sure to evenly split the number between the 3 generations… It would be cool to see you reviewing that DVD, plus, it’s the only one with Ringo Start, Michael Angelis, and Mark Moraghan on the same DVD!

Oy this DVD is the epitome of the worst of the HiT era and Season 10 as a whole nothing but boring and bad episodes i even have bad memories of a fan recreation of Green Controller but with James -_-
Trainboy7's recreation?
@@Zacman1123 yes... I was the one who suggested it and he took it literally
The only good thing Carnival capers did was that take along set.
The HiT Era is slowly breaking Taylor. Please help.
Nice Thomas and Friends DVD review Tay! I can't wait to see more! ❤
Ok I understand you don’t care about Rocky but does At least have The potential to be good
As much as I love Season 10, the episodes in this release aren't that great (looking at you, Thomas' Frosty Friend and Edward Strikes Out).
Also, I find The Green Controller + James' 'busy bee' livery kinda funny.
I love Season 10 too Also I think I might be the only fan alive who actually likes Thomas's Frosty Friend
Carnival capers (But Better)
1. Percy and the carnival
2. Thomas and the jet plane
3. Big strong Henry
4. Thomas’ tricky tree
5. James the second best
6. Thomas and Skarloey’s big day out
Learning Segments
1. Guess the engine : Edward
2. Who can take them
3. Clever Percy
4. Right Sized Engine For The Job
Songs :
1. Favorite place
2. Engine roll call
Funnily enough Thomas and the Jet Plane and Thomas’s Tricky Tree were on the UK version.
@@joshuaW5621 I Know
Interestingly the UK version of Carnival Capers has a completely different selection of episodes with the exception of Percy and the Funfair (or Carnival for you guys in America).
The James and the Red Balloon DVD, I pray that is a more enjoyable DVD than this one Tay.
Seriously, what the hell has Edward gone against cranes?
How do episodes like this one even greenli- *Sees Miller* Oh. *Gasp* I never would have thought
Hey Yami Tay. I was wondering if I can use that Look at the Puppies Music Video for one of my videos? I'm actually planning on doing a short for my channel and I thought that the Look at the Puppy sketch was hilarious that I wanna put it in just for the laughs.
It's like the Hit Era just don't know what to do with Thomas up to this point. Like come on Hit Era make up your minds already! ❤
I'm kind of surprised this isn't your least favorite model series DVD of all time!
It is lmao
@@yamitay9258 At least so far.

3# Sir Topham Hatt's Face Was Just Creepy In The End Of The Green Controller
The mistake of Henry for Emily was a sarcastic joke lool
@@yamitay9258 Oh I See
Now I have serious regret that I owned this DVD in the first place!
Seems Thomas and Edward must have done a Gordon and taken some of Henry’s Special Coal.
That episode was season 22.
Interesting james angry face you made here 22:54
There is only 1 decent episode on this release: The Green Controller. That was literally the only episode
I found enjoyable and interesting when I was a kid
😠
Percy and the carnival: 0.5/10
Thomas and the birthday mail:
4.5/10
A Smooth Ride: 3.5/10
The Green Controller: 0.5/10
Edward Strikes Out: 0/10
Thomas’ Frosty Friend: 0/10
DVD As A whole: 1.5/10
11:38 Oh My Gosh! Where's Mr. Percival's Glasses & Hat?
IMO, this release is trash. It’s honestly not that memorable either. Pretty much all the episodes all this release suck, ESPECIALLY the last 3 episodes. I personally don’t mind the song There’s always something new. It’s not my favorite song of the hit era but I like it. As always, great job on your reviews Tay. I can’t wait for your review of James and the Red Balloon.
Ps: Happy Birthday Tay
Honestly Thomas has a fair share of bad episodes he has in the Hit Era.
A 4/60 for Tay’s opinion on all 6 episodes. How is this worst than Team Up with Thomas?
OOOOO! red balloon!
I know I'm supposed to kinda dislike Rocky and Rosie but I do feel they got better later on
Edward is one of the best characters in Thomas and Friends because he's EDWARD.
6:47 Tay, it was emily under the coal dust, not henry.
Of course I know it’s Emily. It was a sarcastic joke. I do it all the time in my reviews
@@yamitay9258 i know you do. by the way, i can't wait for the james and the red balloon vhs review after your birthday sometime. happy early birthday, by the way, tay.
For a future Thomas vhs review why don’t you finish up the last 2 Ringo Star Tapes (Thomas breaks the rules and tenders and turntables) with a double feature
Percy & the Carnival: A very boring Percy acts like an idiot episode. The only positive is how hard he works in the end. 2/10
Thomas & the Birthday Mail: Boring but not the worst of the Thomas acts like an impulsive idiot episodes. 3/10
A Smooth Ride: Boring episode, I like that they brought Sir Handel back but I wish he didn’t replace Skarloey & Rheneas as the old wise one. 3.5/10
The Green Controller: Not a bad story concept but the way this is written is incredibly stupid. 3/10
Edward Strikes Out: An all time stinker, In my opinion the worst example of a character being untrue to themselves. 0/10
Thomas’ Frosty Friend: Another all time stinker. As Boring & stupid as it gets. 0/10
I like a Smooth Engine and Thomas and the Birthday Mail
But nice Review
14:49 it's kinda like STH? where they have some people who just...stand there, behind them?
Don’t those people have anything better to do than standing idly by the higher ups of the railway?
You know what something weird I remember and the songs or sodor game great destination when sir toppen hatt introduced the characters he said Edward is the older and wiser engine but oh the hit era still ignore that
Edward is out of character
The obvious has already been pointed out
In other news Edward is blue.
@@joshuaW5621 In other other news, he is old.
I feel like i can understand the many wrongs about this DVD, mainly for how they added the despised episodes of Series 10, and if anything i would've appreciate it if they had just changed it up really, i feel very bad about your temper in this one. I mean if you want to see me frustrating myself on the first class stories DVD, floors opened I'm just sayin'.
First Class Stories?
I have seen information on this one, and while the classic series episodes are great, they should have really made sure to evenly split the number between the 3 generations…
It would be cool to see you reviewing that DVD, plus, it’s the only one with Ringo Start, Michael Angelis, and Mark Moraghan on the same DVD!
Brilliant review yemi tay I agree with you those episodes are shit
