You’re buddy Jay is a fun guy and has an epic beard. 👍 I remember fishing as a kid one time in Lake Couchiching in the 80s and getting tons of perch out of it. They are tasty fish too.
Sometimes it's better to limit your catch then catch your limit , along as it dont affect the population, because it's about the fishery .......nice trip
There are no species or lake anywhere that is an inexhaustible resource. We used to catch them like that when I was young. Now you’re lucky to scratch out a dozen worth keeping. Take good care of your fishery.
Those lakes are larger than our freakin country (Netherlands), and we are no stranger to large lakes and big perch, ours are way bigger in our rivers, up to 22inch, massive. But you guys got the numbers, amazing. Cheers.
@@DrenalinAdventures You got it, Scott. Been watching you for a while... along with the other boys. *grin* Why not add one more? I'm looking forward to the day I can get back across the MI/CA border and go fishing up there!
Bah, I live in a spot in the South where we don't usually have these native. I'm going to have to get permission from my uncle to stock some in his pond... kinda tired of bluegill and largemouth.
Used to be large shoals of Perch on the Forth and Clyde canal which runs alongside of the village where I live and which I've fished all my life, I've always had a strict catch and release policy (unless it's a game fish of required weight/size of course), but in the past decade we've seen a decline in catches of both Pike and Perch on the canal through overfishing by foreign fishermen who catch them and take them home to eat and just don't give a hoot that they're ruining the fishing for the people who fish for pleasure. (and by overfishing I mean that they're catching minnow sized Perch and slamming them into bags to take home).
Lets face it 50 fish per person is way over what a person can eat in a day, I have seen our perch fishing decimated by over fishing but mostly due to commercial fishing on Lake Erie, however the perch showing up in the Detroit river is shockingly low compared to 20-30 yrs ago. I blame the MNR and the fact that on border waters they manage fish catches by area or county instead of as a body of water. The Gov has work to do, so that our fisheries are managed for the long term. cheers and GL
Dalton, perch have been my passion for 30 plus years. 50 years ago, it was a perch that hooked me on fishing. I wouldn't hazard a guess as to how many thousands of stripes have found their way into my buckets, coolers, livewells, and belly. I absolutely love these fish and I'm fortunate to live where the perch grow to utterly huge proportions. I used to have a rule of "9 and up", throwing anything smaller back. These days, I've decided that approach simply doesn't make sense from a conservation standpoint, especially on bodies of water that aren't Great Lakes big. There's no shame my friend, in keeping smaller fish; males and smaller females, and sending the hens back to spawn. My unsolicited opinion. Good luck out there.

That’s so cap no perch in the world is 22 inches long you might be getting mixed up between a perch and a walleye
Jacob look up the European perch, you'll be amazed!
Nice jumbos! Yumm! How fun! (sub #21!)
Thanks for subbing!

Excellent video Scott, is your wrist sore? You need to move to the Barrie area.
Yes and yes
They look tasty
I heard those are really good eating.. I prefer walleye tho.. those are so small you need to catch a hundred of them

Where you fishing ??that's way over 50
I want to see your dog
I SEE PERCH EYES BEING USED NOT JUST PLATIC MINNOWS.
Jason Jason Jason
15 perch per person limit
How can this sort of fishing be sustainable? Easy answer, it can't!
Better that fishermen can catch them than the commercial fishing guys
Jesus loves you
stop keeping small perch
