I watched the ESPN 30/30 on Celts and Lakers. Jeez! As much as I lived and died with Yanks/Sox rivalry, mid 70's forward, Celts and Lakers topped it! Added to that was the Celts/Pistons prelude! Those years were the best. Ever.
And my favorite player was Mr. James Worthy. Looking at these clips now, and I still marvel at his swoop!
Like the song from those days: "Simply the Best."

    I don't think I've seen a player with as many ways to put the ball in the hoop, doing it from the right or the left hand with ease... my favorite player, James Worthy. (Loved watching him burn players on the baseline most. ;}

Best fastbreak finishers in NBA history:
    Bill Russell (best among centers)
    John Havlicek
    Julius Erving
    Bernard King
    Dominique Wilkins
    Charles Barkley
    Karl Malone
    Michael Jordan
    Scottie Pippen
    Kobe Bryant
    LeBron James
    Russell Westbrook
But the best of all was JAMES WORTHY.

@@DeeNice681 Thanks! I know I'm missing some more there. Among centers, Cowens and Olajuwon and especially the Admiral were great runners too.

@San Diego Well, there's Wes Unseld. But in fairness to Russell, he could give you 20+ points in big games, especially in the playoffs, especially Game 7's. He played 5 NBA Final Game 7's in his career and won them all, averaging 20.4 ppg in those 5 games (24.0 ppg if you don't count his last where he scored just 6). Wilt played in 2 and lost them both, averaging 19.5 ppg. Even Kareem averaged less, 19.7 ppg in 3 contests (just 4 points in Game 7 of the 1988 Finals), winning 1 and losing 2. Overall, Russell averaged 16.2 ppg in the playoffs. Not much, but that was actually BETTER than Wilt's 15.8 ppg in the playoffs exclusively as a Laker (when he scored less).
Russell was also a good passer (often in Top 10 in assist) and often led the offensive attack with his defense, by blocking a shot while deflecting it towards a teammate who could immediately lead a fast break counterattack. He did that better than any other center. So Bill Russell was actually an underrated offensive player.
But I will agree that Olajuwon and Wilt were great fastbreak finishers. Also lefties Dave Cowens and David Robinson among centers. But here's some trivia: the last points of Russell's career was on a fastbreak dunk in the 4th quarter of 1969's Finals Game 7.
