I'm blown away by the incredible physics in this game! I had no idea it was capable of such realism and depth. The detail in the physics engine is really impressive for a game that came out in 2001!
It uses a very simple physics engine. It can only handle sphere collisions for dynamic objects if I remember correctly. The barrel's collision is 3 spheres on top of each other or maybe more. It can crash in certain circumstances. I think if you spawn 2 barrels at the same coordinates it can crash.
And this is the only gta game that involves dismemberment and it wasn't for a cutscene or mission aim a RPG at a NPC they go flying into actual pieces for a game that was made in 2001 thats pretty good detail
I had to speed up some parts because it was running at 1 FPS or even slower. I removed the audio at those parts, because I sped it up by 5-10x. There was a part with the car alarm where it stopped while I was shooting, because all the barrels were making noises, so the sound system hit it's limit.
if i had this game back in 2007 for my back then family computer (compaq presario 2000 with an AMD Duron single core processor and 64MB of DDR), definitely it would have ran like that, if not entirely refuse to
@@JoCaTen This one uses a CLEO script to spawn the barrels. This one was a bit harder to make and it's more unstable. My previous one used IPL files, those respawned when you got far from the place. I used a bat file to generate the IPL file. Limit adjuster is needed or the game will crash from this many barrels. If you want to try you can find the download link in the description, or under my 125 barrels video also has one and it's more stable. The latter doesn't need a limit adjuster, only Vice City needs it for some reason.
Reminds me of when I used to play Lego Creator on my old MAC computer back in 1998. I'd stack a whole mess of bombs on top of each other and it had the same effect as this! 😂
The limit adjuster helped a lot. It maxes out around 9500. Over that the game may crash or break in some way. Even 5120 was much, since it was 1 frame per 10 second sometimes.
The original gta trilogy is the best ever, l think they are all good....3 had that gritty gangster vibe....Vice city had that tropical vibe.....and San Andreas had that massive urban vibe, and somewhere out there, CJ is still trying to catch that dam train. But who is funnier, the cops from GTA 3 or GTA 5?
What are your specs? This should be incredibly easy to run on a modern gaming rig. I mean the physics of the barrels here are incredibly simple. I’m pretty sure if I ran this on my 4070 I’d never drop below 30 fps.
@@bean9005 It works on Windows 10, so the hardware doesn't matter that much. Some really old DirectX 6-7 games are affected by newer hardware, but it's only the colors and sometimes scaling. That can be fixed with tools easily.

It’s a game engine limitation, nothing to do with the pc.
I'm surprised the game can handle it all!! Look at all those physics :D
My 5900X was maxing out 1 core. Can't imagine what would my old machine from 2005 do with this much load. I had an Intel Celeron 2.7 GHz back then.
