This was a fitting tribute to all the fallen soldiers of wars they didn’t want but were sent anyway. Dire Straits should be proud of the way these men performed this. I agree with you that this was the best song Home Free has done to date.
This was the first time I have seen you. You are showing what the song is meant for. The feeling that comes through the song is meant to be there just by the meaning behind the lyrics. I feel that way each time I hear the song. Your reaction was perfect to the song. Don't apologize for not being able to dive deep into it as it brought out some feelings. That speaks louder than words can.
There are some songs that I think are touched by Heaven. Every time I hear it my heart tears up. Thank you home Free for delivering it the way you did. Your reaction was mine too my friend.
Amen seem like you got it thanks .Ive heard this done 30 times. And it seemed to me most did not have 1 tear .I cry every time i have heard this great song to are vets becose where the hell would we be with out are VETS. God Bless them all.and thanks to just jen.She also cares a hell of a lot. Thank you.
As a new subscriber, this DV is proud that this was the first joint I listened to…. But I had Bass Effect headphones 🎧 on and my guy’s voice rocked my head and the harmonies took me to Heaven’s Gates…there are many different worlds (reverb echoes). Wow….just……wow…..Every man has to die….we are all dust in the wind (Kansas)
This was the arrangement by the group Club for Five. They sent Home Free the charts with their blessings. However, Home Free made it their own during the "echo" sequences. Tuukka the base from Club for Five is one of Tim's early inspirations.....and he honored Tuukka well. And Tuukka gave Home Free high praises for this.
Was chuckling at beginning where u mentioned to put comments down below, where Tim resides . . . I was waiting for ur response when Tim came in, below where Tim usually resides! Fitting for Veterans Day! As u mentioned haunting but beautiful!
To say that this was not what we expected is an understatement. But as you said it is so full of emotion that you can't ignore it. This is a special song for veterans day & every day for all those that serve now & in the past.
THAT was spectacular. I wish my WW11 and Korean Conflict veteran dad could see and hear this. What a masterpiece by Home Free. The emotion was just bubbling over. Dad......Fair winds and following seas sailor. Your brothers didn't abandon you when your ship was hit by Kamikaze five miles off the coast of Japan. You all stood together. ::saluting with tears in my eyes::
I have always said that this is a hauntingly beautiful song. The video makes all the difference in the song. It doesn't seem to hit the same if you just listen to the song, at least to me. I always enjoy your reactions to this group.
Those 5 part harmonies there is nothing like it. I love how Tim and Chance are featured in this. This another POWERFUL song with such meaning. I'm hoping they do it at a concert I go to I would love to see this performed live
Mark Knopfler didn't sing as deeply, but he did sing it as softly in the original. And his guitar solos were inserted masterfully. With that said, Home Free did this cover more than justice.
Oh Dennis, this is something. It’s haunting, stunning, amazing…I don’t have words. Tim’s lows are incredible. I loved the echo parts…just incredible. Loved your reaction Dennis!!!
Dennis I feel ya on this. I agree this is on another level & DEEP. They stepped up their game with this...it's just hauntingly beautiful ! I agree will be listening for many many times this weekend
This song has made me cry like a baby every time I have heard it since it was released by Dire Straits 36 years ago. But this arrangement like you said is the most beautiful arrangement ever
I so totally agree with everything u said Dennis. There's just something about this song. It has such an eerie reverence about it that just holds you. Loved it! And that bass! Wow! 🥰
Awesome Reaction Video! Love this Song by Home Free! They put their own spin on all songs they do! We love Home Free! Of course you too! Lol We have 4 seats in December and close to the stage
I was sceptical about this as this song means a lot to me. Was I wrong! So hauntingly beautiful and yanked out a sob of emotion from me. They did this song proud and then some.
My first reaction was how amazing Tim sounded, but I lost it emotionally when those intense harmonies kicked in after Chance's first verse. Not only is the song haunting, but the sound of this will haunt me forever.
I'm right there with you on this, Charna. Every reactor that I have seen react to this song feels that wall of sound when Austin, Rob and Adam kick in after Chance's verse. You can see it in their faces...it is almost like, in case the low notes have lulled you to sleep, we are here to say, WAKE UP and HEAR us!! The intensity is that piercing! Like you, each time I listen to this, I am touched emotionally. I cannot get it out of my head. So, Home Free has done their job with this song...they have made us think and, hopefully, feel what the lyrics are telling us, in a beautiful yet haunting way. A HUGE THANK YOU must go out to all our military members, past, present and future, for all you have done/will do to protect our freedoms. God Bless You, one and all!! HOME of the FREE, because of the brave!!
I know, I get it, leaves you kinda speechless doesn't it?! The way they (and Darren) arrange their music and the tight, tight harmonies the guys are able to do with their incredible voices and talent, makes you want to break down and cry it's so beautiful! Like organ chords, the last one really is that. Take care and keep doing your great work for all of us and for Home Free, getting them out there and better known.
@@kokkidaa Thank you. I listened to the version by Club for Five and it is very similar,. Obviously Home Free used this as the version they wanted to do their own arrangement after. There are obvious differences but clear that Home Free respected this version, just made it their own here or there for their own voices. Appreciate the info.
My dad was a WW2 vet, and the year this song came out was the same year my oldest boy went to Marine bootcamp. He served 21 years, part of which was spent in the Iraqi War....a war I did not believe in. Thankfully, he came home, but many did not. And for the last 20 years our boys and girls have been sent home in flag-draped coffins...or mangled by IEDs or suffering from PTSD. We lose 20+ vets a day from suicide, and many others live on the streets. Man's inhumanity to Man is a scourge on this planet, and it never stops. Heartbreaking. And this song portrays that so well. Home Free has produced a quality of vocals, harmony, videography and musical arrangement that is masterful. Sheer perfection. Oh....and those last two notes? They sound EXACTLY like a huge pipe organ. Incredible performance! Bravo!
When I finished listening to this the first time, I realized I was barely breathing. This one is epic and sticks with you. Your reaction seems to be the general consensus with the Home Fries.
I salute all my fellow brothers and sisters in arms, thank you for you sacrifices so that we may be free and continue protecting this world in your stead. Great reaction
I loved he look on your face when Tim started! It's a beautiful tribute to our fallen. I have never head the Dire Straits version, so this is my only reference. And a beautiful one it is. Thank you from all of us veterans, brothers and sisters in arms.
Haunting is the best description of this song. Tim does it like nobody else can. Something also about their facial expressions added to their harmony and that bass!.. just about broke me too. And it's not easy to do that to me.
Your facial expression at the end of this was exactly how I felt after hearing it on Land of the Free cd this summer. I have probably worn that song out playing on repeat!
The first time I heard this, from the album, I had to turn the rest of it off and just process for a while- it is quite incredible. So I'd say this was an excellent reaction, you could see the way it blew you away as well. Thank you.
I've loved this song ever since Home Free dropped their Land Of The Free album. They seriously outdid themselves with this one. So hauntingly beautiful! Just a masterpiece of beautiful music 🎶
This is hauntingly beautiful and haunting. The 5 part harmonies are amazing. Patrol Gaming said this was written about the Faukland island war (a British conflict) but the words ring true for all. I’ve listened to both the Dire Straits and Club for Five versions and the Home Free one remains my favorite although each version is powerful. I love the songs where the lower voices lead and the upper registers bring the power backing. This just overtook Helplessly Hoping as my favorite HF vocal only, too. Thanks for your reaction
This is phenomenal! I was hoping for a video for this song, I enjoyed the premiere. Too bad I can't hear HF live. These guys do a damn good job! The absolutely perfect harmonies are so good and Tim and Chance's voices are fantastic. Tim's super deep bass gives you goosebumps 💥 A very emotional song great performed by HF. Thanks for your reaction!
This is a song that everyone should listen too. It hits you right smack in the feels. I have a lot of respect for you & how this video affected you. Watching your facial expressions & the fact that you didn't try to mask it but was honest with us about how much it meant to you was reaction enough. Thank you for that. And Thank You for your Service. Much Love 😊❤️
My son just got out of the Air Force after 10 years. Every time he was deployed, I worried that I might never see him alive again. So yes, this song hits home hard for me. As does their Travelin'Soldier and Go Rest High On That Mountain. This is another song, now, that will bring me to tears, hurting for the families out there who DID get the dreaded knock on the door -- while being eternally grateful that my child came home. Thank You for your Reaction to this song. ❤️❤️❤️
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 , standing while applauding with tears. My grandfather, my dad, my uncles, they would thank you for this tribute. My brother in law, my husband and my son and his friends thank you .
This one is different. And so was your reaction, which is appropriate to what they just did. I watched the video and heard the song for the first time this morning, and didn’t notice the light shining through the band. It broke me, too, to the point that I won’t be watching it often, because I won’t be able to. But I will be watching it again, because I can’t NOT watch it again.
Thanks for your reaction to this video. It could almost make one feel shaken. I was surprised that they did not release it for Memorial Day. However, it is nearly Rememberance Day in the U.K. You and your family be well.
I wondered why we seldom see a California show. I'd like to see one but the closest show is over a thousand miles away. Hey HF you have fries in the western states too.....
Yes, it took you on a journey that invites you to feel every step of the way. The ethereal setting that feels like you are half present half way to the end of the journey, the other worldly harmonies the drive you forward, the visuals of every man's final rest . . .impact you body and soul. Breathless emotion beginning to end that leaves you with the contemplation of sense and senselessness. Possibly the beautiful HF to date, but not easy to enjoy the message.
You know you want to talk to them and ask what it's like to be "outside" of the sample size for what it is to be human. Great reaction as always. Have a great weekend and take care all.
The best all vocal song for me. I cried as I remembered our Vietnam Vets coming home to an America far different than they left, and the amount of Soldier's that still has scars today. 🇺🇲💝🇺🇲
I also think it's hauntingly beautiful, giving you goosebumps and strong impact. Tim's deep voice can shake your soul, but their harmonies calm you down. I hope they can come to my country, Taiwan to perform. My aunt is a retired music teacher. She likes them, too because I've shared a lot of Home Free's MVs with her. Even though she doesn't speak English, she still feels the emotion of their works. I sent her the link to the video premier in the midnight; she was stunned by the tune. She said she'd like to go to their concert with me if they do come. Hope it will come true.
I think the one song that rivals this for emotional reaction (for me) is Johnny Cash singing Hurt. Both are SO powerful and just seem to stop people in their tracks. Tim is just haunting.
I sub for your honest reactions and you delivered yet again, thank you! Most of us have heard this before and have had time to process it, even tho it hits every time. So we extend grace to you as you try to absorb all that was words can't describe. Awesome song delivery by truly awesome vessels (Home Free ALL of them imo) Blessings & be safe this weekend
Please go back & listen to the Dire Straits original version???? The long intro leads into the most phenomenally beautiful vocal!! So genuine & worth the intro wait!! Mark Knopfler is an insane guitarist & Brothers In Arms & Local Hero are masterpieces that showcase this! I do think the Home Free version is STUNNING but it doesn’t detract from how perfect the original is 🥰🥰 Tim is incredible but Chance steals it for me with his tone & buttery smooth well rounded vocal. To be honest they are all incredible in Home Free & they have again blown my mind with their talent! 🤯😍🙌🏻
So true. Mark Knopfler is a genius and you will be missing a great part of Rock'n'Roll history if you don't listen to it all. Home Free have done an awesome cover. The harmonies are glorious and I too love Chance in this song.
SemperFi to all who have paid the ultimate sacrifice. RIP Brothers and Sisters.
Beautiful ... just beautiful !! Thank you for this treasure Home Free !!
This was a fitting tribute to all the fallen soldiers of wars they didn’t want but were sent anyway. Dire Straits should be proud of the way these men performed this. I agree with you that this was the best song Home Free has done to date.

When you feel a song,..and cant explain you reactions....you KNOW you have heard a masterpiece.
I said the same thing. Hauntingly beautiful
This is a masterpiece, in my opinion the best Home Free has ever done
Jag är beredd att hålla med! Helt outstanding!
I cannot agree more, this song is on of the few that has put tears in me eyes
No, it is a rip off. Even more it is cultural theft.

It hits the heart, such a meaningful song. So many will have tears from this song. Love home Free!! Heartfelt reaction!

I love this song, good reaction, Tim's voice sends shivers down my spine, it hauntingly beautiful
I totally agree I could feel the raw emotion and energy with in the first ten seconds and by the time Tim started singing I had goose bumps
It is always a next level experience when Adam sings. Their 5 part harmony is transcendent.
THAT was spectacular. I wish my WW11 and Korean Conflict veteran dad could see and hear this. What a masterpiece by Home Free. The emotion was just bubbling over. I like Dire Straits a lot. This is one of the songs that I realy like.
Home Free has done this song to a diamond. Love it!
This is my 3rd time hearing this song. Chills and tears every time. I love it ❤️❤️❤️
I agree hauntingly beautiful! I am in awe of Home Free.
It’s quite amazing when the first few seconds of just humming can send so much emotion through you!

I agree. I thought nothing would top Hopelessly Helping. This is a pure masterpiece. I had chills for an hour after hearing it the first time.
You are right - they take their harmonies to a whole other place with this one.

A great cover of Dire Straights 1985 hit.
This song has made me cry like a baby every time I have heard it since it was released by Dire Straits 36 years ago. But this arrangement like you said is the most beautiful arrangement ever
WOW one goes straight to your soul. You're reaction was spot on.
I so totally agree with everything u said Dennis. There's just something about this song. It has such an eerie reverence about it that just holds you. Loved it! And that bass! Wow! 🥰

We love it when Home Free has fun but then they hit us with a song that hits us in the heart and gut! When they want to send a message they sure do!
I was sceptical about this as this song means a lot to me. Was I wrong! So hauntingly beautiful and yanked out a sob of emotion from me. They did this song proud and then some.
Well said, I couldn’t agree more! That was absolutely beautiful! They are so consistent with the their vocals, whether it’s heart breaking or funny!

they didn't arrange this. the arrangment was made by susanna lukkarinen and juha kannisto from the a cappella group club for five

The USGS has placed a ban on Home Free performing in California. It's hypothesized that Tim Foust and the San Andreas Fault are incompatible.
🤣🤣🤣
I wondered why we seldom see a California show. I'd like to see one but the closest show is over a thousand miles away. Hey HF you have fries in the western states too.....
Yes, it took you on a journey that invites you to feel every step of the way. The ethereal setting that feels like you are half present half way to the end of the journey, the other worldly harmonies the drive you forward, the visuals of every man's final rest . . .impact you body and soul. Breathless emotion beginning to end that leaves you with the contemplation of sense and senselessness. Possibly the beautiful HF to date, but not easy to enjoy the message.
Hauntingly beautiful is a perfect description of this amazing performance! Thanks for sharing!
On a lighter note, I absolutely love, love, love 💗 Tim’s new nickname, “Mr. Rumblemouth”!
