The issue with the Saints offense last year wasn’t Carr, it was the lack of a running game.
No doubt, Carr took a lion share of the blame but if the run game was even middle of pack.. they wouldve made playoffs

Brock Purdy is a perfect example of how good a QB can be in the right situation. Put him on the Saints and he's not better than Carr. Put Carr on the 49ers and he's in the playoffs often. Truth be told, our offensive line is bad, and receiving corps is average at best, which made it hard for Dalton, and for Carr.
Derek Carr was runner up for MVP in 2016.
He got MVP votes.
For Gruden he was between 7-11.
Hes a very solid QB.

One correction guys, at his best he is MVP caliber. 2016 I think it was, Raiders were rolling.
Let the know-it-alls talk. Last year Carr was decent with horrible line play. Rookies - half of the top 6 drafted will be busts. Do I think DC is a top 10 QB? Probably not, but he falls within top 15. Who Dat!
Fair assesement. Sean had him at 16 with a decent shot at getting to 11 or 12 with new offense.

I put Derek Carr around the 12-17 position rankings this list is so Ridiculous Absolutely makes no sense Baker Mayfield definitely isn’t better than Derek Carr I know he made the playoffs but he’s not as good of a quarterback is DC4 This has to be one of the craziest rankings list I’ve seen in a long time I hope Derek Carr sees this and use it as motivation to fire him up to prove whoever wrote this list completely wrong
Yeah. Baker is better then Carr ....he don't panic on the blitz and has better footwork, and a quicker release...Carr is trash...billy joe Herbert was better then him Jake Delhome Bobby Herbert all those guys were better New Orleans poohed the bed on carr
People call me a “Carr Stan” & that’s fine, I guess, however I’m often the only one attempting to use any objectivity in my evaluation.
I actually created. A few years back, a 10 category aggregate ranking system to evaluate QB’s & cover as many bases as possible of QB play with as much objectivity as possible, as a way to check my own bias.
It’s great that you watch some film, & you believe DC is a “good to average” QB and is 17 best.
I’m not sure how you’re arriving at that without watching every snap from every QB?
It’s a subjective “FEELING”.
That’s how you feel about DC.
That’s fine.
How you feel about something doesn’t make it reality.
DC’s ceiling is in fact a Top 5 QB.
How do I know that?
He did that in 2016 and received MVP votes.
He hasn’t put it together for an entire season, like that, since then, which is why that’s his Ceiling!
While he hasn’t repeated that season, he has had stretches of play like that.
So how should DC be ranked based on last season’s play?
I ranked QB’s, who played more than 9 games in 2023, it wouldn’t be fair to include those who played less.
There were 29 Qualifiers.
Also, QB play is relative year to year.
Rules change, Defenses change.
Last year was a bit of a down year for QB’s across the board.
Using my 10 category aggregate, that includes:
Completion %, INT %, YPA, Passer Rating, QBR, Total TD’s, Total Yards (both Passing & QB Rushing), Total 1st Downs, Fumbles Lost, PFF Grade.
Derek Carr was the 11th best QB in 2023.
Does that mean he’s the 11th best QB in every season?
No.
That’s how his play compared to other QB’s who played more than 9 games in 2023.
This is rationale, objective, & has a defined methodology.
This doesn’t include my “opinion”.
This isn’t based on how tingly CJ Stroud makes you feel inside.
This also doesn’t factor any hardship DC had, because I have no way of measuring that and other QB’s had hardships also.
This isn’t based on how much you like or dislike Carr, the person.
I have noticed most people who really hate DC are Woke Progressive Leftists, I’m a moderate Centrist, but that’s another conversation all together.
Big long explanation of Carr talent. Here is a real short one....Jake Delhome ...a cast off from New Orleans was a better QB then Carr . and we happily traded him..he. Was better then Carr 100% not good enough...periode ...we will not stand for mediocrity .....

Sorry Bud, Mayfield IS NOT a better QB than Carr. Give me a break. Put Carr on the 49ers or Dallas and he's easily a top 10 QB. You have to look at the teams a QB is playing on when you consider how good/bad a QB is.

I don't like Carr at all. Can't think of a single thing about his role as a leader, quarterback, or as a person that I like. But 26 IS pushing it. That's wild. C'mon guys, 26? Really?

Derek Carr was average as whole wasn’t the worst Qb or the greatest Qb now how much of the injury actually effected some of his play early on last yr he was not accurate at points and sometimes was to scared to make the throws or made the wrong throw like the out bounds pass where he screamed at Olave. Look Brock Prudy is average the problem is the saints are not as good as SF really on both sides of the ball. This is with even making that bad trade for the early Qb the saints mistakes of late have been more magnified because of the push to be Super Bowl contenders while falling short. This yr approach seems to be able to build back up will Carr be hear the whole time they are building back up probably not especially if Rattler prove he is the future guy. If you think a rookie contract is cheaper than a vets contract.
26th is a touch low but it’s not as ridiculous as you’re making it out to be- Carr is firmly in the 20th to 22nd range.
He may touch 10th best on his absolutely best day, and is down around 30th-31st best on his worst day.

Gotta disagree that his performance against the Vikings, where he put up 110 yards and 3 points in almost 3 quarters, wasn’t good for about 30th in the league. His performance in the first Atlanta game was pretty atrocious as well.

I counted 19 qb’s better than Carr. So he’s not 26 he’s 20th. No big deal he’s still average

Let's see he didn't know the playbook til around week 12...they wouldn't let the backup play even though Carr was so hurt(insecurity right there) and his oline and receivers fought with him on tv.and the biggest elephant in the room...the oline....he holds the ball too long and is to old to learn escapability in the pocket....Carr is garbage 8-9 or 9-8 is what's coming..I predicted this team to suck 3-5 years starting last year...year 2 is coming...watch and see
