You are a very good person, and pilot by doing that; comment provided by a world traveler since I was 10 years old.. So I Thank-you for your thoughtfulness.. 💞

I currently live on the outer banks. I am originally not from America, and the “hurricanes” I usually experience from where I’m from are weak rain storms at best. Was terrified of Idalia but that turned out to be pretty much a bust. Really keeping an eye on this storm, especially if it looks like it’s going to make direct landfall in that median path Ryan mentioned between SC and NJ. That would shatter the OBX most likely.

We were direct hit landfall for Florence when they said until the day before that it wasn’t going to hit us. We did not have enough time to evacuate, and secured in place. It was terrifying watching the radar and a Category 4 hurricane barreling down on us over night and it suddenly drop to a Cat 1 right before landfall. We still lost our house and many of our belongings and ended up homeless for eight months. Most of our community did as well. We will be watching this storm very closely, and are prepared to evacuate at the first sign of it coming our way.

As a North Carolinian who likes rain and thunderstorms this video made me happy for the coming days.
Fun fact: if you watch enough of these videos you'll notice that the Outer Banks (that thin line of islands east of NC) get hammered pretty hard by hurricanes. The trees there, specifically the Live Oaks, have adapted to the weather by growing winding branches that twist together so the trees can shield and support each other through the storms, and residents build their houses in among the trees to get that protection for themselves.

I don't watch TV. When my husband died last year I gave away all the TV's, online weather is much more accurate and up to date. I used to watch the NOAA broadcasts but even there you get announcers getting all shrieky and agitated and you have to put up with ADS! which I can't stand; they are the main reason I dumped the TV's. Then I found this guy. He is great; very knowledgeable, calm and measured speech, and the graphics are easy to follow. Mainly, I like him because he doesn't pretend to know everything and tosses in various possibilities instead of hammering down on one option and running it into the ground.

NOAA weather radio is wonderful! I bought mine years ago and I basically listen to it every single morning to help plan my day! The alarm function will definitely wake you up and you can go to bed knowing if bad weather is heading your way you will be alerted! Only uses 4 AA batteries! If bad weather is predicted ,I leave all 4 batteries in radio. If weather is going to be OK, I remove one battery and it saves the power! Saves $$$ too!

Ryan Hall, had a couple of questions for you! Why was the last hurricane that hit Florida a cat 3, almost cat 4 by the hurricane center but wind gusts was around 100 mph and not sustained winds? Have you notice that hurricane center has been amping up the winds for hurricanes and tropical storms over the last 2 decades or more? What is your thoughts or opinions? Thanks, love your accurate forecast videos and knowledge! Also love what your team does to give back when people are in need because of bad weather!
