How we feeling about Sparking Zero one month later? 👀 I can admit it has its faults, but that doesn’t make me love it any less. I just want this game to succeed as much as possible, and it seems like the devs feel the same way, as they've announced a gameplay patch coming in December! Can't wait to see how they handle it.
I LOOOVE it, I am having a blast with my friends and the group is growing. I dont play ranked but it needs that rage quit issues to be solved More maps from Tenkaichi 3 and more stable connetions, ahh and crossplay!!! But my hopes are little for that.
I grew up playing these games offline. I have no interest in playing randoms online. I definitely don't want to get sweaty in a game meant to be unbalanced. As long as they add more content in a timely manner, I'll be happy.
This is basically exactly how I feel. I miss when we just played games for the sake of it being fun. I don't need a constant online connection or lackluster battle pass. Sparking Zero has done its job. It brought me back to 2006 when I was a mindless child obsessed with Dragon Ball.
theres also a huge lack of actual single player modes besides episode tournament and bonus battles alongside the very obvious lack of character outfits
Not being able to change the amount of rounds in the World Tournament mode is the biggest let down for me, aswell as the lack of a "Battle 100" or "Dragon Sim" style mode
I love custom battle I didn't like the other modes in bt3 personally they got kind of boring for me so this is pretty much the best offline you can pretty much create anything you want
@woag4974 for you it could have been for me I got bored of that mode I only really cared about survival and the regular single battle mode which got really boring after a while bt4 at least made the CPU a lot harder but it was kind of cheesy and really input ready I like the CPU better in sparking zero because it's a lot more balanced and you can get it to those input reading levels on your own adding double the strategies and regen and damage your experience can be different than mine.
The budokai tenkaichi series was never designed to be a nonstop online competitive fighter, it was always supposed to be enjoyed with friends as a party game. I've had way more fun playing against my friends in split screen battles than online where everyone just rage quits and only plays as the same 5 characters. EDIT: I have kicked the competitive gamer beehive.
I feel this is something alot of people forget. These games aren't designed for competitive play. It's a party fighter that fully indulges in fan service. It's a game meant for friends to play together rather than to see who's the strongest.
@@Alkhemia8The Ranked system doesn’t matter. The entire game is around fun and characters that are unbalanced to kingdom come, Just a ranked system doesn’t make a game competitive, balancing, fairness makes a ranked system. All of which most games follow to the best of their abilities. Sparking Zero is not one of them because it wasn’t physically designed to be.
as a longtime BT3 player i HATE how many sparking zero players hit you with the patronizing and stubborn “it’s supposed to be unfair!” argument the moment you suggest even minor changes like no mf i don’t want the game to be perfectly balanced, i want it to be fun. jesus christ, BT3’s instant sparking moves would give you ki sickness, and back then stocks charged slower, so it was MORE balanced back then. There are so many examples like that and I find it insufferable and frustrating how the game’s own fans aggressively hold it back from being better -_-
Rs that's what I'm saying bt3 came out when there was no such thing as patches. It's a huge eco chamber some of those people wasn't even born or was in pampers when bt3 came out
thats facts, mfs throw around that its supposed to be unbalanced phrase like crazy its annoying asf, nobody complaining is saying gogeta and saibamen need to be equal lol
Things can be unbalanced and still fun. But is Sparking Zero like that now? No. The devs put out the shackles like ki sickness and just call it a day is simply outrageous. Even more so the fact that giant have a 2k+ dash moves that cost HALF a bar. They clearly didn't take note of why BT3 was good, especially in the sound and explosion effects. Till this day i still hate that death beam and special beam canon isn't piercing AND it explodes too now. The lackluster of destructive visuals from beams are really itching me.
@@fathanrakha9295yeah spike intentionally upped the cheese by 100x and called it a day lol, meanwhile dumb mfs be like blah blah blah blah its supposed to be unbalanced
I agree with many of the concerns in this comment section. I used to play DBZ BT3 with my friends, and none of us were by no means competitive players but what made the game super enjoyable was being able to experience various aspects of the Dragon Ball world offline. I played BT3 for the PS2 which had 0 internet connectivity but because of how many things you could do offline I never felt bored because there were so many things to check-out. Sparking Zero unfortunately under delivered for its casual-player-base. And for a game like Sparking Zero I’d rather play casually than competitively, it’s way more fun that way.
You play Videl because she has AIS and low cost stall meta tactics. I play Videl because i fuckin love melee'ing the shit outta my foes with my childhood crush in XenoVerse, FighterZ, BT3 and SZ. We are not the same.
@@ItsOver9000Productions cucked by Gohan. This man crushed so hard he had to become Videl. Do you goon to Gohan smashing videl, or do you imagine yourself as Videl and giving back shots to Gohan.
Bardock has super armor because he has that dawg in him, nobody has gotten their ass beat like Bardock and stayed standing, the endurance and pain tolerance he has is crazy.
And also a reference to his og movie, where he tanked the fuck of Frieza's army and even Dodoria's attack. If any protagonist needs to have SA, it better be Bardock
They need to fix the inputs. I can never figure out what causes my supers to not come out half the time when im holding r2 Or Why it prioritizes vanish/kiblast.
There is an option that prioritizes guards in the settings, idk if possibly there is also one that prioritizes vanishes, you could check also I had an input issue with my blasts and I remapped the buttons for the blast to help fix it, i hope this helps even a little bit
Honestly, one of the biggest things holding this game back is how slow and clunky it is to get into a match in casual. I bet you we'd have higher player retention if ranked wasn't the easiest and fastest way to load up into an online match. We'd have way less people being burnt out from facing the cheesiest, most annoying teams if quickplay casual was actually quick. You'd also have more variety of skill levels to face off in casual, compared to ranked where people would rather alt F4 themselves to keep their rank intact.
This is exactly what I thought too, unfortunately this is bandai we are talking about. Their business practices scream 'money over everything'. Bandai has not even dealt with the plugging problem that has plagued their multiplayer games spanning over multiple years most prominently being a problem in their tekken series which is a very competitive game that focuses on the ranked aspects more. In my opinion they should have given this game a couple maybe a few more months before releasing this game as to me it just feels like early access and knowing bandai they are going to release a big patch soon that will make the game what it was meant to be on release which is mental.
I could not care less about online play in Sparking Zero. After seeing how mfs in ranked are behaving, I'm inclined to avoid them like the plague and just play with friends.
That’s not true “every mp game” then where all these losers in the FGC? Oh that’s right yall can’t actually handle real competitive games that take real skill and you will lose and learn. Thats a competitive game n player mindset. What IS “every mp game” now is a bunch of try hards on baby level games or party games who feel themselves after cheesing victories in a community full of rage quitters. The FGC is hard to get into because you can’t even troll FGC cuz you really need skill to do anything. Dont confuse party games try hards with actual ppl who play actual competitive fighting games . Sparking zero is about as competitive as Texas chainsaw game 😂 everyone wants to be the best and win but can’t handle losing, or playing games with skills. Yall no that’s “every mp game” now bunch of ppl who get ego boost for winning baby games n then cry when they go to FGC. Thats what the sparking zero community did yall got an ego, scared everyone who’s not a try hard, and remaining still can’t win 1 round in fighters or any other game with skill
One thing I noticed about this community is that they’ll get mad at the thought of any balance patch idea. Yet all complain about someone using “cheese”. People seem to forget that nobody is going to play how they want em to
I think this video is a good testament to what people were talking about when they asked for balance. Tien shouldn't be able to easily take on SSJ4 Gogeta. But that doesn't mean that SSJ4 Gogeta should be able to insta spark twice in 2 minutes and hit you with an ultimate with no penalty or consequences whatsoever. If BT3 thought this through, why didn't they do the same with this game? Its crazy i haven't rage quit yet despite it happening to me 10 times in a day Combine this with the absolute travesty that is online play with the "a win is a win" mentality, rage quits with no penalty, SEVERLY underwhelming single player content, non existent customization and awful causal quick match system, glitches and inputs not registering and the list just keeps going... you've got a game that clearly needed more time in the oven. I voiced my concerns for this stuff for months leading up to it and was dogpiled everytime. It only took a month for people to realize that not critically looking at the stuff you're anticipating might make spending 100 bucks hurt a bit more. Playing with friends or not annoying casuals is really fun tho.
Yeah, it definitely needed some more time in the oven. Also, unless they just get rid of online play completely, they need to balance the game at least a little bit more. They don’t need to go as far as Fighterz and try and make every character equally viable, but the game in its current state doesn’t seem very fun to play online with randoms. (Granted, I don’t own the game yet, so I could be wrong.)
This. It’s fun and cool to be back, but clearly lacking compared to it’s predecessors in terms of content and polish. I assume it was pushed out too soon or corpos messed it up.
Holy shit an actual good, sensible comment that isn't just "this game wasn't meant for online play so it should never ever ever never get rid of ridiculously easy to pull off cheese!!!" This game while still fantastic could've definitely used a few more months in the oven, just reintroducing Ki Sickness to skills that once had it could fix quite a lot of stuff (afterimage strike spammers get btfo'd) & make it more fun in the long run Also I miss dragon sim
Thanks for addressing stallers, I hate them with all my soul, ppl focus too much on ragequitters, but for me, spammers and stallers ruin my experience more than them, cuz virtual points kinda don't matter to me tbh.
When you spank someone first 2 dp characters, then see Dr. Wheelo spawn with full health with 30 seconds left… I just sit there knowing you got bested and it’s just ridiculous
imo, if a winner isnt decided, neither person should get any rank, or at least both people should only get like 20 points, just something small that makes stalling completely pointless.
Yajarobi reminds me of how in XV1 they allowed you to use healing items in PVP and scrubs would pop them right at the last second of the timer to win by having more health. 😣😣
I think it could be fun if they added weekly online tournaments with specific themes for example goku only, child characters only, giants only, females only, animals only, etc… It would make the online experience more enjoyable because you wouldn’t see the same 5 characters all the time. It could be cool as well if they added outfits that you could only buy with a currency you earn after playing the tournaments and the better you place, the better the prize.
Sparking Zero needs balancing if it’s going to be a online multiplayer game The whole “Tenkaichi style games need to be broken!” doesn’t work unless you want a game to die *edit* A lot of yall are confusing “balancing” as Krillin should be just as strong as SSJ4 Gogeta or something Balancing / patching means making the game less broken and more playable in general That’s it
They were never balanced to begin with and the game has already sold well over 3 million copies. It's done it's job. It's online "dying" is inconsequential at this point.
Why don’t you play a real fighting game. I heard VF6 been announced which is like holy shyt. The big 3 will be the big 4 again. Might even attract Tekken players too. Yall “competitive” sparking zero players want balance. Why not play arguably the most balanced fighting game franchise Virtua Fighter? Because ain’t no way you gonna just jump in and be good, it takes actual skill, and is an actual fighting game 😂
@@SuperBabyMario0Cpeople bought the game to play the spiritual successor to bt3. It’s like saying you were in the mood for steak, why not have this pasta instead. No bro my steak is undercooked, please cook it some more I don’t want some pasta rn. The pasta might be amazing but I’m in the mood for steak. I played db fighterz competitively which was amazing even with broken meta that was patched. They already showed that they’re willing to patch stuff, a lot of problems would be fixed if they added casual matchmaking. The broken mechanic sweats will still appear but those are the same people cheesing to rank up. For people that don’t give af about ranks and just want fun fights, casual matchmaking can save your sanity.
Something that would help online alot is if casuals battles werent so tedious to get into. Also cheesing your way up the ranks is pathetic because your rank is supposed to put you among players of your level, no one actually cares about what rank you are, its not a flex and Goku would hate you if he knew you
I really feel like the story style was a letdown. I was hoping it would more so work like BT2 with using all the characters instead of just a handful. I also feel like they could have done for GT although super 17 isn’t there. I just didn’t like the episode style and also didn’t care for the difficulty of getting some alternate paths.
@@jamesygamesy5124 People associate "balance" with FighterZ, and that couldn't be further from the truth, the game could easily be balanced towards fun, DP battle are good, 1v1 not so much. My problem is the bs, unblockable/undodgable ults are stupid, not only beams follow you, but you can't block them... it's stupid, and some ults damage is just absurd, 2 bars, it's not fun, at least to me, getting deleted for not being able to dodge what you could dodge in BT3, is just not fun for me... idk maybe I'm just bad, but the game doesn't feel as polished as BT3 and I can't explain why
I had the Wii version of BT3. The online mode was... inconsistent. Sparking Zero is very powercrept from my BT3 experience. Ults can do an unblockable 20k+, auto-max skills have no ki sickness, and blast stocks charge so quickly that the numbers are almost negligible compared to frame data for them to activate (assuming they're not cutscene activations that you can't really do anything about). Something like Afterimage Strike is likely going to have to be nerfed from 15 seconds to 10, maybe even 8. If ki sickness is brought back, ideally the auto-max skills will be disabled until you remove it, even if that's not how they worked in previous games. Vanish battles will probably need to be given a bigger cost of maybe up to half a ki bar in order to vanish, if not taking a page from the BT4 fan-mod where 8 vanishes goes into a quick-time event similar to a step-in Power Impact, maybe even going so far as to have it burn through max ki mode's timer. Now I'm waiting for someone to show whether or not King Cold and Perfect Cell can still use their finger beams for clashes. It has so much style to fight a Spirit Bomb with one finger.
Yeah but ngl they did Death Beam so fucking dirty. It was one of my favorite super moves in the game just because the sheer dopamine of the sound effects, it's like shooting a gun at your enemy. Now they made it full power death beam can't clash, it explodes, slow, and sounds sluggish. Fucking hate it.
I played the online of BT3 on Wii as well around the 2011 The online play had it bad. Basically, the game constantly froze to check connection. Your 1v1 3 mintue battle easily became 20 mintues because of bad internet. It got so bad, people only spam smash attack.
To be fair, with how quickly some characters attack, especially in sparking mode, traying to visually time a super counter is nearly impossible, especially if you introduce online latency.
Seeing your typical editing style (aka having random closeups of the characters) but with SZ instead of past DB games is really funny to me for no reason.
As a BT3 veteran who only plays this game with buddies in splitscreen, the game is just to easy and gives you too many ways of blocking, it stalls the games for no reason and becomes a drag after a while. Revenge counters were not necessary since it's way easier to block and counter on modern hardware than on PS2 for example and are annoying for both sides, we would have liked an option to turn them off, ki blasts are too easy to spam and force a more defensive and toxic playstyle, skill points are too easy to come by which increases the use of skills too much. And vanishing battles are horrible and take forever, they're easily the most unfun thing about the game. Other than that I think the game has a solid foundation and it was mighty fun until we figured the game out, I hope they're able to tune it and give us more option to customize battle rules like turning off certain mechanics like revenge counter or supers for a melee only mode. Oh and give us more splitscreen maps, it's freaking sad they didn't let us play on anything but hyperbolic time chamber... Also Me and my buddies have noticed the game sometimes tends to ignore inputs for some reason, so unless we're all going crazy, that is the top priority fix they have to work on.
i agree with you. As a longtime tenkaichi 3 player, sparking zero is a good game and its fun, but so many things changed in a kinda bad way. Oh and i do miss the Sim Dragon adventure mode or the 100 battle mode from tenkaichi 3.
The best way to counter instant spark players is if you have a character with instant transmission to break the lock on and just fly into the sky or to the ground. Wait for the spark to end and you’re good.
@@shaynehughes6645 the only skills that a lot of people use are instant spark, after image strike, and wild sense. I feel like they even forget that it’s in the game.
11:39 No it isn't. There's another weakness for Afterimage Strike. Yeah Ki blasts is one but the other is Throws. Throws can null and void afterimage strike as well. I'm of the opinion that plays Sparking Zero offline. Just like the old Tenkaichi days. I won't lie that I play Pan, Perfect Cell and Kefla not because of the meta but I find them to be fun. As for my view on balance, I'm not a fan of it personally since Tenkaichi is NOT a competitive fighter period, but at the same time the changes they made to Yajirobe didn't kill the character at all and can still be playable. If the next patch does that as well and makes the characters still fun to play, I have no complaints.
Few tips Giants can't do their charge rush at the top of the stage Any 7 DP character can stagger Giants. (This I mostly sure but haven't tested all) DBS Base Trunks can also do the sidestep Revenge Counter is one of the best counters to ki spam ultimates
Me (new to the series) and alot of my friends were new to the series or played casually when we were kids decided to give the game a go and we all ended up dropping the game. By no means were we pros, but at a similar low skill level all fights kinda felt the same. At this point we decided to learn about the game by watching 'pro' players and what we learned was that basically everyone ended up playing the same few unbalanced characters or same team comps as you've mention in the video. Sadly we didn't really see a reason to continue playing or trying to improve. I still think the game is fantastic and a love story to the Dragonball Franchise but I think I'm content with just playing the story mode.
Hey, so i think I found two little fun details as I was playing Sparking Zero. first is that I think Master Roshi have a different color staff (his brown one he originally had) when you are using is OG DB Skin from the normal purple one you have in the base skin for Master Roshi the second one is that in Android 16 Grab he actually use his Rocket Fist to fire the opponent back.
I remember playing the BT series on PS2 with my friends when I was a kid. Booting up Sparking Zero brought back great memories, but discovering that the only couch PvP stage available is the Time Chamber was a big disappointment.
I predicted this would happen and someone told me to shut up.. because they were part of the hype train.. But I always say elsewhere that bandai namco fighting games are just not made for meta online playtime because too many critiques for someone unhappy and it's hard to make anime characters balanced in a game where the characters are not meant to be balanced
We gotta wait for a new game for the Rollback, netcode delay is just garbage. Imagine Sparking with a rollback, it could have been the best game of the decade bro... Not even casual players want lag online.
@GoldenKirby nah bro it can work. It's game engine based. To get a rollback you have to start a new engine from scratch. Remember hunter hunter? They wanted to release the game with netcode delay, then decided to prolong the whole stuff by 1 year to build a new engine with rollback.
@@bobbyblackman1118Won’t seem endless if there’s a set max of 4-7. Having them take more ki exponentially is the best way (imo) to alter it while keeping it the same for the people who have already taken the time to get good. It could also give a lot more value to being able to hit a Super counter in a vanish battle. I.e. Letting you save your ki, potentially making a difference between winning or losing a vanish battle
Competitive modes are a bane on PvP games and lead to cheesy strats that ruin the fun. I just wish the casual mode was better because the actual room system kinda sucks ; Why would I queue casual to end up in a spectator slot? I want to play non meta characters and have fun not watch people have fun... RUclips is here for that.
The bardock super armor is pretty clearly a reference to his last stand against Frieza's troops. Despite being injured, he just "went forward" despite enemies constantly firing blasts at him and even dogpiling him. (well, until Frieza attacked, that is...)
I've got a few ideas on how to fix the game overall. in ranked they should: - Have even health, ki and skill points for all characters - Have skill points gain at 1/3 the speed that they currently do overall game wise they should: - Make backshots vanish-able - Add in the BT3 move to push back opponents at the cost of 80% of a health bar - Fix cpu opponents, they break if you hit them with an ulti (they start to stand still, power down for no reason) - Make senzu bean a one time per battle item This would have made the game better at launch and it would improve it now
It baffles me how bad peoples recommendations for the changes are. So you just let low DP character have spammable after image strike, the most busted abiliy in the game=?
The thing i wish they did for balance adjustments that i can totally see them doing is just adjust DP costs. Upping the DP cost makes them less of a no brainer pick, since theyd have to then compete with more dp cost characters
No offense, but there are significantly more important issues with this game than that. (Also, they’d have to invest more development time into that than they would for adding crossplay or nerfing overcentralized skills or characters.)
@@DragonNM46 nope, i'm siding with the offline crew, the game not having any more than 1 map for splitscreen is a total shame i would absolutely be playing this game for hundreds more hours if there were splitscreen tournaments like there were in the original budokai trilogy.
as one of the ppl who had some complaints .. I still have complaints, but the actual gameplay/combat is better once you get better/skilled. Still an annoying ass meta, but you can punish some cheesers if you’re good Some of the things I’d still change: Poor lock-on system when you lose track of your opponent inefficient character selection screen (let us make preset teams) let us change default settings for training mode More map options for 2player local (they said it’s supposed to be non-competitive/party game, but only hyperbolic time chamber available for local play???) A win if your opponent disconnects, but no loss for them unless they’re able to determine whether it was a genuine disconnect or a rage quit
Pretty fun video. I think another thing about Giants people forget is that when you knock somebody back instead of continuing a vanish war and forcing a fight what you can do is switch to a Giant if you do this your Giant gets a free 10k dmg and can begin to spam Z Rush for even more. I do it to execute players its like you know when somebody is going to switch so you set them up for this combo and BAM you do 15-20k dmg before they even realize it and get a free kill. It works great when people are waiting for YOU to switch and you do it before they're prepared
The game being unbalanced is what made this game unplayable. I made it to Rank B5 but that’s it because there are some annoying strategies players are using and can’t get around at times, also input delays.
I really wish the player with the most damage done would win the time off, i spent like 10 minutes fighting a majintanks spamming heal and one unblockable super just for them to switch when they’re about to die over and over and as i was about to win with my last character, he healed and won for having more health then me 1 second as victory was mine 😭
We've all waited for this game for so long, but honestly, I hate to say this, but it kind of disappointed me. While I still have love for the Tenkaichi series, and DB games, this one kinda threw me off. Good game still, fun new mechanics, but they definitely need to rework A LOT of things. Like, for instance, why in hell would a rush attack ever be unblockable and hits while on the ground?
Ngl no it isn't. It's great in concept but not in execution. 80% of the characters pkay the same and even the unique quotes are generic and weak@nimittkhare3201 you glaze this game too much. It's bland and unbalanced
The problem I'm seeing with this game is that they're designing the game with little to no balance intended but bringing it to an online platform that by default has competition of wanting to win. From what we've seen, for most players, it means picking whatever is the strongest to win battles rather than what's more fun. It almost feels like adding ranked was a complete afterthought as well. I can't really see a version of where this works for the game because it's just not meant to be competitive for that reason. Only ways I could think of them tweaking the game however, is this: Make DP cost much more harsh Nerf the skill meter gain heavily Ki sickness Not letting characters have skill cost advantage when they clearly have very powerful skills Z counter clash or some kind of system that acts against it lasting for too long
So we never to this day got an official explanation as to why Dr Willow who was supposed to be the size of a regular human, had the brain the size of a giant.
There's also just so many of these so-called "BT3 veterans" that all act like the arbiters of what the series is "supposed" to be. You ask 10 different people, you'll get 30 different answers. Rather than just accept and admit the game overpromised and underdelivered, these people keep shifting the goalposts as if offering even the slightest bit of criticism towards this game would incur the wrath of God for their ungratefulness. People are forcing themselves to like this game, and it's holding it back. Just because we have nostalgia for them, doesn't make them perfect, and even 3 and 2 were pretty messy arena brawlers. Not to mention the fact that for a lot of players this is clearly the very first 1v1 game they're playing online, and it's leading to a lot of salt and blaming other players for playing a certain way and having fun. People who accuse others of "sweating" and being a "tryhard" (what's your opponent supposed to do, sandbag?) are exposing their low mental fortitude.
I remember that down+vanish can get you away from the vanishes (z-counter in use) in older sparking series. Also in Sparking Meteor(Bt3), for some of the rush attacks, you are able to mess with the directions button and even if your opponent vanishes it'll still auto-track them for a hit. Also smash attacks could deflect the rush attacks away when gets done in the right timing
6:52 Bardock, in most Dragon Ball media, is often portrayed as having unnaturally high endurance and persistence against enemies stronger than himself. Him tanking Dodoria's blast in the Father of Goku special, him living Frieza's Supernova in the Episode of Bardock, and now him fighting and even defeating Gas in the canon proper are all examples of that. Even in the video games, you have stuff like him fighting and stalling out Mira in XV2 and surviving encounters with Shallot and Cell in Legends. In those media, you can just assume that he can run even on a mostly empty tank. But in a medium where Health is interpreted as a flat number that goes down linearly? You either A) give him Endurance (a one-time, second wind heal from 0 HP) like how Legends loves to, or B) just slap super armor on him when he's in a special burst mode, to show him tanking the enemy's attack and still be swinging.
The same people that keep dropping this hyprocratic, "party game=non competetive or balanced" arguement don't play party fighters. My G, Smash bros is THE party fighting game and REGULARLY needed patches. Hell i like fun with my friends, but if a game ALLOWS WHIS, character who LITERALLY autododges, to NEVER be picked because he's INFERIOR to a person who can one tap you because you are online with 0.2 lag and missed the block button once (Stares at bardock and Broly) then NO its not fun. No game should have a "hahaha I win"--button. Name a SINGLE party game like that thats regularly played. Some of us want to test our limits and get better at a game. Even pokemon gets patches like stfu i stg
I agree with most of your points, except the super counter. Some people have reported that there IS already a cooldown of 0.03 seconds in between each attempt so you can't spam it (not sure how accurate this is). But if you look at the vast majority of players, they can't perform a super counter, and then the ones that can, can't do it consistently. I get that it's different in higher levels of ranked, but it's basically the only tool to get out of a back combo (unless you have an explosive wave skill), so it would mean nerfing the "general" player base while giving an advantage to higher ranks, causing even more frustration and reducing the player base even more.
I feel the same way, I don't understand why people care about the online portion of Sparking Zero so much when the Budokai games didn't have online at all.
Cuz people want to play with freinds online and show off thier skills and see how they test against others however that concept was ruined by a lot of toxic people@magmus2
@@magmus2 pretty easy thing to understand tbh. The capabilities for this kind of thing weren't widely available back then. The majority of memories people have from those games were playing with their friends and other people, now you can do that globally.
I think the best way I've been able to put it is that while Sparking Zero isn't a bad game, it certainly is NOT a 70 dollar game. It's severely lacking polish, the story modes are really lackluster especially in Vegeta's case, and the issues with inputs go well beyond that of just latency issues. I understand that DB stuff in general is made under extremely brutal deadlines but I feel we're at the point as a consumer base that if we pay 70 bucks for a game that can be described as "unfinished" then it will simply die after a month.
@adreeeandanothere510 I'll name just a few of my issues. The story mode is absolute cheeks, Vegeta got done so dirty, none of his Saiyan Saga fights and his story ending at the Buu saga is criminal. Plenty of missing stages, iconic ones like the look out should have not been left out, also planet busting attacks only busting Namek is beyond a shame The lack of costumes for characters and no colour swaps, I want my red Frieza and blue Cell The music DLC is a rip off and since a huge amount of the custom battles use the DLC music people not willing to shill aren't able to play them The menu UI is dog shit, slow and the characters never shut, painfully so when you enter the shop and Bulma speaks every second
Facts. Don't even get me started on the terrible input delay, the camera being all over the place and not locking on the opponent when they're right in front of you is also pretty bad. The characters taking forever to get up after getting knocked down onto the floor. Inputs not working sometimes, and the characters just sitting there sometimes, especially after switching or transforming.
I think the other issue is, no cross platform. I have friends on other platforms who want to play with me but cannot because they don't share a PC copy. I bet there's still a large audience on the consoles but we can interact with them.
@@Blackopsspartn Ian mean to put this on this comment buh I meant as a whole we know from the beta they care about the fans and listen to our complaints the updates to come will make this game good buh damn some of the problems are kinda eh there’s many ways around it
Too many rage quits, 183 characters and everyone uses the same fusions over and over again and not enough single player content to keep me around. When you do actually get a good match each character for the most part only has 3 bars of health and the fight is over too fast. Stopping the rage quits and giving non fusions a health buff would go a long way for player enjoyment. I also share alot of the frustrations the community has around the mechanics. No point in repeating what has been said a hundred times. This video included some of them at the end.
I had to play 100 online matches so I could get the platinum trophy on PlayStation. I was initially excited to play against overs, until I realized that nobody was here to have fun and instead they just wanted to win by any means necessary, making the online mode the most miserable online experiences I've ever played.
There is many issues but I hope I can be short: Single-Battles: - Need to be a "Best of 3/5 mode" like how fights are in Tekken and Street Fighters. You need to win 2/3 fights with the same opponent for it to count as "win". - Every character has to start with equal health and Instant-Sparking only fills the standard ki-bar - Every individual character has its own win-rate instead of all determining your whole win-rate (to encourage variety) DP-Battles: - Increase Wheelo's cost to 5 - As soon as there are more than 3 characters in one team, the timer either doubles the limit or becomes infinite General: - Every super and ultimate is blockable except those that cannonically "grabs" like Roshi's paralyze beam - Super-Counter needs a few seconds of cooldown so you use it more wisely. - Vanish-Wars require faster reaction time the longer the vanishing is - After 2 seconds of ki-blast spam, make every ki-blast cost way more ki for a duration of 10 seconds - Add a party mode (5v5 people and each controls a character like how 3v3 works in FighterZ) -Add a "Raid Boss" event like in FighterZ for good rewards
For me an easy fix would give players ratings, after a fight you could rate your opponent, if they played fun, you give them a good rate, and the game could try to pair you with players with similar ratings
Yes and no. Some characters should be better than others, but still the gameplay should be fun. Broly Z is op but not much of a deal, Immortal Vegito SSJ is a big deal...
In every 1v1 game, regardless of competition, both players should still be allowed to have fun. No character should be so broken that they sap all the fun from the game.
@@Kotaneththat's not how it works though I fought the broken characters with weaker characters even when I lose I'm enjoying the fight of course you got your cheesers but that's just a player I love the custom battles I play a lot of the custom battles what's the best CPU that we've got it in a dragon Ball game without it being too cheesy
From the minute I saw the long dramatic Supers in gameplay trailers I knew it would get extremely repetitive and annoying extremely quickly. (But if dislike a singular thing about the game you're a villain)
There is no point In playing the game online. Budok Tenkaichi has always been about single player and split screen. I had BT3 on ps2 and the Wii and never touched the online. Got Sparking Zero during early access and to this day, I still haven’t touched the online. The game is meant to be played like a playground, not just trying to hurry up and win especially since it’s not meant to be a balanced or competitive lol.
Same. I haven't touched online either because it was just always predictable that the online would be hilariously bad. It's just not meant to be that type of game.
True but another big problem is the single player being very bare bones. The story mode is very limited with only goku getting an in depth story mode with the other ones besides gohan black feeling very lack luster. Trunks for example starts his story mode at super despite him being in dbz as well and them being able to make a variety of what ifs out of z moments. Hell, broly doesn't even have a what if despite him being on the cover even though jiren has just one with just as little screen time.
@@Finfection That's the worrying part. BT3 got a far more content and details than Sparking Zero. But if u look metacritic, BT3 got a 70 score and SZ got a 83 score. That really makes u think in the state of video games industry.
I really dont care about the broken mechanics/characters. I just want good online with roll back. Good players will get around the cheese as long as they can get a hold of a smooth connection that feels like offline play
@chupacu192 if you bitch about a game being competitive when it was repeatedly stated to not be built to be balanced around such a thing then thats a you problem not the game.
Honestly I hope they add more story what ifs for the dlc or just story in general, like a dlc story for super heroes, saiyan saga gohan. and most definitely vegeta post-buu
Ah yes cheesing in a tenkaichi budokai game... you guys are so good and I playing against cheeser is so much fun, cant wait to play against gogeta or broly's or Trunks over and over again
They need to make a mode where you can play with a friend online instead against as well. Co op mission would be cool and 2v2 matches would be cool too.
so many key details that were either overlooked or misinformed/poorly worded in this video... 1. Giants' armor (and by extension, LSSJ Broly's passive super armor) are not based on lore-based strength. It's based on the character's DP level. 5 or lower DP = 4th attack of rush chain breaks armor, 6 = 3rd attack, and 7 = break armor immediately with any attack. It's also very important to mention that follow-up attacks and step-in strikes ignore the armor rule and go through armor right away as this is a key mechanic to understand when fighting giants and Broly. the homing dash's follow-up attack if you mash X/Square also counts towards this alongside smashes or semi-charged smashes 2. The unique knockdown caused by hitting the 'combo limit' (be it after 3 rush strings in a full combo, or ~20 attacks or so in sparking when mashing attack) is NOT inescapable. You need to tap DOWN on your stick/D-pad once the white flash appears around your character and you start spinning. this unique knockdown (a 'spinout' as I like to call it) can also be forced after a lift strike combo and after some combo follow-ups (such as heavy crush after heavy finisher). this is never actually explained in the game's in-game tutorial which is why people think its unavoidable. this knockdown also happens if you try to use the same rush follow-up twice in one combo, such as flying kicks>flying kicks for example. 3. Super counter already HAS an innate cooldown to it but its only about 12 frames. the problem with your example is that you were super countering SS4 Gogeta's sparking combo, and ss4 gogeta is one of the easiest characters to super counter in the game (alongside Burter) since both of them attack so rapidly in their strings. this gives you more time and leniency to super counter them as opposed to many other characters since they literally hit you more times. also, to my knowledge, super counter has roughly 3 frames of leniency when inputting it. Recoome just has half an extra healthbar, not a full extra bar of health. oops! Broly in LSSJ is not "A three additional DP". 5+3 = 8. He costs 9 DP. double oops... *edit: Ranked games are not 8 minutes long. they are 6 minutes long. divide 360 by 60. I like the idea of reviewing the game's meta but poorly wording important details in both how things work and the counterplay to said strategies just kind of makes it almost feel like misinformation.
Imo, people forget that these games aren't supposed to be super competitive sweaty games. I do think that they didn't anticipate players desire to test themselves in a competitive fashion and thus have a less than perfect online system, BUT for me at least it ended up being better than I expected. I can, at the very least, play matches against my friends and stuff. The ranked is decent enough but ragequitters and broken aspects make it confusing. I also do think the vanish and heal meta isn't the most fun lol. I think for me the one thing im concerned about is stuff like stages, costumes, characters. Moreso the stages and costumes/accessories which are definitely missing some huge picks but that can be fixed depending on how things go.
How we feeling about Sparking Zero one month later? 👀
I can admit it has its faults, but that doesn’t make me love it any less.
I just want this game to succeed as much as possible, and it seems like the devs feel the same way, as they've announced a gameplay patch coming in December!
Can't wait to see how they handle it.
It's fun
I LOVE IT BEST GAME THIS YEAR RAAAAAHHHHH
I agree with you Kadazee.
I LOOOVE it, I am having a blast with my friends and the group is growing. I dont play ranked but it needs that rage quit issues to be solved
More maps from Tenkaichi 3 and more stable connetions,
ahh
and crossplay!!! But my hopes are little for that.
I have a question: how did Afterimage Strike work in the Tenkaichi games? Did it work the same way it does now, or did they buff it in SZ?
I grew up playing these games offline. I have no interest in playing randoms online. I definitely don't want to get sweaty in a game meant to be unbalanced. As long as they add more content in a timely manner, I'll be happy.
Exactly my feelings about SZ
I love sz, online can be fun- definitely love playing with friends. I hope they add more offline gamemodes like in bt3
This is basically exactly how I feel. I miss when we just played games for the sake of it being fun. I don't need a constant online connection or lackluster battle pass. Sparking Zero has done its job. It brought me back to 2006 when I was a mindless child obsessed with Dragon Ball.
Cool story
Fr man, I wanted this game to have fun and play against my friends. Not to break my controller 😭
theres also a huge lack of actual single player modes besides episode tournament and bonus battles alongside the very obvious lack of character outfits
Not being able to change the amount of rounds in the World Tournament mode is the biggest let down for me, aswell as the lack of a "Battle 100" or "Dragon Sim" style mode
@@BlackEyedJester I loved Dragon Sim. I put so many hours into it

BUT, they made it online ranked, so balancing wouldnt hurt
as a longtime BT3 player i HATE how many sparking zero players hit you with the patronizing and stubborn “it’s supposed to be unfair!” argument the moment you suggest even minor changes
like no mf i don’t want the game to be perfectly balanced, i want it to be fun. jesus christ, BT3’s instant sparking moves would give you ki sickness, and back then stocks charged slower, so it was MORE balanced back then. There are so many examples like that and I find it insufferable and frustrating how the game’s own fans aggressively hold it back from being better -_-

This. I've seen Z rank streamers even complaining about supers not coming out when they try to use them.
There is an option that prioritizes guards in the settings, idk if possibly there is also one that prioritizes vanishes, you could check also I had an input issue with my blasts and I remapped the buttons for the blast to help fix it, i hope this helps even a little bit

@kitsune_gt yaaa you got a point there, that can be fixed
I've never had this happen. Are you playing on modern or classic controls?

Its crazy i haven't rage quit yet despite it happening to me 10 times in a day
Combine this with the absolute travesty that is online play with the "a win is a win" mentality, rage quits with no penalty, SEVERLY underwhelming single player content, non existent customization and awful causal quick match system, glitches and inputs not registering and the list just keeps going... you've got a game that clearly needed more time in the oven.
(Granted, I don’t own the game yet, so I could be wrong.)
yep, broken mechanics hurt the game a lot, at least you cac have some rules to circumvent that playing splitscreen, but multi gets annoying like that.
This. It’s fun and cool to be back, but clearly lacking compared to it’s predecessors in terms of content and polish. I assume it was pushed out too soon or corpos messed it up.
Holy shit an actual good, sensible comment that isn't just "this game wasn't meant for online play so it should never ever ever never get rid of ridiculously easy to pull off cheese!!!"
This game while still fantastic could've definitely used a few more months in the oven, just reintroducing Ki Sickness to skills that once had it could fix quite a lot of stuff (afterimage strike spammers get btfo'd) & make it more fun in the long run
Also I miss dragon sim
Just balance we are asking for.
Thanks for addressing stallers, I hate them with all my soul, ppl focus too much on ragequitters, but for me, spammers and stallers ruin my experience more than them, cuz virtual points kinda don't matter to me tbh.

Sparking Zero needs balancing if it’s going to be a online multiplayer game
The whole “Tenkaichi style games need to be broken!” doesn’t work unless you want a game to die

Balancing / patching means making the game less broken and more playable in general

Fun fact: in fighterz if beerus uses his level 3 on Goku black or zamasu when they are low health, he won't flick them, he will instead hakai them
I had the Wii version of BT3.
These things happen in every online game, and I never cared about online as I grew up playing split screen with my homies so iam enjoying myself lol
My main issue is the 100+ characters that are underutilized in the story mode
i agree with you. As a longtime tenkaichi 3 player, sparking zero is a good game and its fun, but so many things changed in a kinda bad way.

Bardock having super armour in Sparking mode does actually make sense. It's because he's him.
13:45 worth noting that getting energy stolen from you while in sparking will instantly break you out of sparking. this applies to cell as well
The best way to counter instant spark players is if you have a character with instant transmission to break the lock on and just fly into the sky or to the ground. Wait for the spark to end and you’re good.
Half the characters in the game have solar flare and I never see it be used on me.

Few tips
Giants can't do their charge rush at the top of the stage
Any 7 DP character can stagger Giants. (This I mostly sure but haven't tested all)
DBS Base Trunks can also do the sidestep
Revenge Counter is one of the best counters to ki spam ultimates
Revenge counter doesn't stun long enough to let you do much after it connects. Even without spark the opponent can take their turn back
Your 2 Skill Points gone for Revenge Counter, just to reset neutral and face their Super Armor 😭

Hey, so i think I found two little fun details as I was playing Sparking Zero.
first is that I think Master Roshi have a different color staff (his brown one he originally had) when you are using is OG DB Skin from the normal purple one you have in the base skin for Master Roshi
the second one is that in Android 16 Grab he actually use his Rocket Fist to fire the opponent back.
Tekken.
We gotta wait for a new game for the Rollback, netcode delay is just garbage. Imagine Sparking with a rollback, it could have been the best game of the decade bro... Not even casual players want lag online.
Rollback net code wouldn't work for a game this complex, unfortunately
It's for 2d fighters due to how much easier it is to predict the next moves
@GoldenKirby nah bro it can work. It's game engine based. To get a rollback you have to start a new engine from scratch. Remember hunter hunter? They wanted to release the game with netcode delay, then decided to prolong the whole stuff by 1 year to build a new engine with rollback.
@@GoldenKirby real fighting games are way more complex, also you can just add delay on top of rollback, like good rollback does

Vanish wars can easily be stumped by doubling the cost of each subsequent vanish in a row.
Ah yes let’s make higher ki wins even more prevalent
ATP they should just rework how vanish wars work
Yes because vanish wars being endless based on ki will be solved by vanish wars being endless but it takes more ki

12:57 ITS FUTILE🦅🦅🦅🔥🔥
"Do not bother. It is futile."
The bardock super armor is pretty clearly a reference to his last stand against Frieza's troops.
Despite being injured, he just "went forward" despite enemies constantly firing blasts at him and even dogpiling him.
(well, until Frieza attacked, that is...)
I've got a few ideas on how to fix the game overall.
in ranked they should:
- Have even health, ki and skill points for all characters
- Have skill points gain at 1/3 the speed that they currently do
overall game wise they should:
- Make backshots vanish-able
- Add in the BT3 move to push back opponents at the cost of 80% of a health bar
- Fix cpu opponents, they break if you hit them with an ulti (they start to stand still, power down for no reason)
- Make senzu bean a one time per battle item
This would have made the game better at launch and it would improve it now
It baffles me how bad peoples recommendations for the changes are. So you just let low DP character have spammable after image strike, the most busted abiliy in the game=?
@youtubeonly520 well if you read correctly 1/3 skill points speed would for the most part fix that so .... Dunno why you're complaining
The thing i wish they did for balance adjustments that i can totally see them doing is just adjust DP costs. Upping the DP cost makes them less of a no brainer pick, since theyd have to then compete with more dp cost characters
Hopefully they'll fix some of problems in a update
Super armor is such a dumb power up. Who ever created it probably doesn't play fair in their games.
5:15 This would be a great balance patch ACROSS THE GAME. All my sons do is power up to the max and spam ultimate.
20:16 is basically DBL in a nutshell
The game would be infinitely better if split screen wasn’t only on the time chamber map.
No offense, but there are significantly more important issues with this game than that. (Also, they’d have to invest more development time into that than they would for adding crossplay or nerfing overcentralized skills or characters.)
@@DragonNM46I disagree
@@DragonNM46 The skills aren’t an issue anywhere except for online. The game was never meant to be balanced, anyhow.

@@DragonNM46 nope, i'm siding with the offline crew, the game not having any more than 1 map for splitscreen is a total shame
i would absolutely be playing this game for hundreds more hours if there were splitscreen tournaments like there were in the original budokai trilogy.
as one of the ppl who had some complaints .. I still have complaints, but the actual gameplay/combat is better once you get better/skilled. Still an annoying ass meta, but you can punish some cheesers if you’re good
Some of the things I’d still change:
Poor lock-on system when you lose track of your opponent
inefficient character selection screen (let us make preset teams)
let us change default settings for training mode
More map options for 2player local (they said it’s supposed to be non-competitive/party game, but only hyperbolic time chamber available for local play???)
A win if your opponent disconnects, but no loss for them unless they’re able to determine whether it was a genuine disconnect or a rage quit
Full power Frizea is so underrated 😂
I am just loving this game
♡
I really wish the player with the most damage done would win the time off, i spent like 10 minutes fighting a majintanks spamming heal and one unblockable super just for them to switch when they’re about to die over and over and as i was about to win with my last character, he healed and won for having more health then me 1 second as victory was mine 😭
WOOT! The buffed my boi Tapion, cant wait to play him!
It's a great game ngl
Only ways I could think of them tweaking the game however, is this:
Make DP cost much more harsh
Nerf the skill meter gain heavily
Ki sickness
Not letting characters have skill cost advantage when they clearly have very powerful skills
Z counter clash or some kind of system that acts against it lasting for too long
6:50 you know damn well why he has armor, feels in his character to persevere and he’s HIM
So we never to this day got an official explanation as to why Dr Willow who was supposed to be the size of a regular human, had the brain the size of a giant.
they should make character have "delayed onset ki disorder" after sparking mode ended
TBH everyone should be able to sway out a vanish attack like Trunks. Literally fixes that whole problem.
the game just not that interesting or in depth tbh the fact people tried to make it out to be is hilarious
However, there is one character nobody can beat
Super 17 because he is not in the game...
I just wish there were more what ifs

As an old PS2 player I have never played randoms online and I have zero interest in ever doing so.
I feel the same way, I don't understand why people care about the online portion of Sparking Zero so much when the Budokai games didn't have online at all.
@@magmus2It’s not rocket science Lol… People like to compete and show off skills. Online is the easiest medium for that
Cuz people want to play with freinds online and show off thier skills and see how they test against others however that concept was ruined by a lot of toxic people@magmus2
I'm heavily disappointed by the game, I wish I had waited till it was on sale.
What’s the worst thing about it?
@adreeeandanothere510 I'll name just a few of my issues. The story mode is absolute cheeks, Vegeta got done so dirty, none of his Saiyan Saga fights and his story ending at the Buu saga is criminal.
Plenty of missing stages, iconic ones like the look out should have not been left out, also planet busting attacks only busting Namek is beyond a shame
The lack of costumes for characters and no colour swaps, I want my red Frieza and blue Cell
The music DLC is a rip off and since a huge amount of the custom battles use the DLC music people not willing to shill aren't able to play them
The menu UI is dog shit, slow and the characters never shut, painfully so when you enter the shop and Bulma speaks every second
This was such a high quality video
I think the other issue is, no cross platform. I have friends on other platforms who want to play with me but cannot because they don't share a PC copy. I bet there's still a large audience on the consoles but we can interact with them.

I had to play 100 online matches so I could get the platinum trophy on PlayStation. I was initially excited to play against overs, until I realized that nobody was here to have fun and instead they just wanted to win by any means necessary, making the online mode the most miserable online experiences I've ever played.
There is many issues but I hope I can be short:
Single-Battles:
- Need to be a "Best of 3/5 mode" like how fights are in Tekken and Street Fighters. You need to win 2/3 fights with the same opponent for it to count as "win".
- Every character has to start with equal health and Instant-Sparking only fills the standard ki-bar
- Every individual character has its own win-rate instead of all determining your whole win-rate (to encourage variety)
DP-Battles:
- Increase Wheelo's cost to 5
- As soon as there are more than 3 characters in one team, the timer either doubles the limit or becomes infinite
General:
- Every super and ultimate is blockable except those that cannonically "grabs" like Roshi's paralyze beam
- Super-Counter needs a few seconds of cooldown so you use it more wisely.
- Vanish-Wars require faster reaction time the longer the vanishing is
- After 2 seconds of ki-blast spam, make every ki-blast cost way more ki for a duration of 10 seconds
- Add a party mode (5v5 people and each controls a character like how 3v3 works in FighterZ)
-Add a "Raid Boss" event like in FighterZ for good rewards
I agree. But that "paralyze beam" spam just ruins the experience.
For me an easy fix would give players ratings, after a fight you could rate your opponent, if they played fun, you give them a good rate, and the game could try to pair you with players with similar ratings
That would create another toxic situation because salty people would give negative rating to everyone
Honestly I don't mind broken characters, games don't have to be balanced to be good.
Maybe for a single player game

@Kotaneth i think a bunch of extremely broken characters can balance a skill gap between an extremely skilled long-time player, and new player
@@t.v.1201 Yet the game still sold over 3 million copies despite those problems. The game did it's job. lol

It's also very important to mention that follow-up attacks and step-in strikes ignore the armor rule and go through armor right away as this is a key mechanic to understand when fighting giants and Broly. the homing dash's follow-up attack if you mash X/Square also counts towards this alongside smashes or semi-charged smashes
