I continue to be amazed at some of the hardware you come up with. These cases and especially the coolers are not something even money can buy. You do not see that stuff for sale. Those Lanparty cases with the handles, woooweee! I last saw one of them about 10 years ago.
It’s a shame we don’t see a lil more creative fans coolers, colours on certain motherboards, cases etc as they create a unique looking pc and some less mainstream and safe. It’s clear you take pride in your parts, you can see they’re well looked after, cleaned and maintained. Love your content 🥰👍🥳🤯. Cheers 🍻
I had a very similar system back in that day. Leadtek NVIDIA GeForce 4 Ti 4400 or 4600, EPoX motherboard, 2500+ Athlon XP 1Gb RAM.. Also upgraded then to Abit NF7-S mobo and ATi Sapphire 9800XT although I think it was same era but I like hardware & I like upgrading & overclocking & tweaking. Keep up the videos you are a real PC enthusiast. I like how you carefully treat the hardware and clean it all out just like me. Nowadays bloggers with more followers are lazy to do it like you & me. Keep it up!
this build is pure sex distilled and amd was the undisputed champ of this era. i used an athlon xp 2000+ from 2002 to 2009 and it was the machine my brother and i used to download, emulate, and encode anything we could get our grubby little hands on. we were stuck with integrated prosavage graphics but we didn't complain. much better simpler times when things like money, politics, and drugs didn't register to me
Unbelievable, I had an almost identical gaming setup in mid-2003: XP-2600+, Ti 4600, 1GB ram, it was a beast at the time and made all of my gaming friends jealous. Cool video, brings back memories.
This is so cool! I love seeing retro PC builds like this. Love how out there the designs and coloring for the motherboards and coolers were back in those days.
Awesome video 🙂, especially quake 3 gameplay bring back memories. On my first PC (P2 400MHz + TNT2) Quake 3 run with around 30fps at 1024x768 32 bit color but I was happy with the results anyway. Later on my father bought me new PC (athlon 1.4GHz, GeForce 3) and this game run at locked 60fps even at 1600x1200.
this is like the pimped out version of one of my first pcs of the 2000's that stayed with me right up until beginning of 2011, embarrassingly, I ran ubuntu 10.10 on it without ssd at the end, as windows xp became too slow after a few weeks of a fresh install, really loved ubuntu 1010 on that pc
used that case on the left for a build for a little girl about 15 years ago or so. and boy i remember those motherboards- and the via chipsets never built a photon though- memory lane otherwise..
I remember using my brothers gaming PC in early 2004 and it had 512mb of ram. I thought that was a huge amount and remember thinking how games would look with 4 or 8 GB of ram. Today I model as a hobby and my PC has 32GB of ram. How time flies. I wonder what gaming and PC hardware will look in 20 more years. Maybe we will be up to 512GB of ram on PC or maybe even 1TB.
I would have loved to see a UV neon shine on that beautiful hardware throug a side window ! Love that full copper GPU heatsink too ! and thanks for the tips about the double sided tape for those unsticky fan sticker
I used to have an Athlon XP myself once, it was my very first original AMD processor before my current laptop and my new Ryzen rig. I just don't remember anymore what kind of specs it had and whether it was a Barton or Thoroughbred.
I would have loved this in the early 2000's! I could only afford an Athlon XP 2500+, and mine was a bad overclocker. Originally I had a XP 1800 and a cheap motherboard, my motherboard died and I ended up getting one that supported the barton processor. My GPU's were the Geforce 2 MX, Radeon 8500, Geforce GT 6600, once the 6600 failed, I used a Geforce FX 5200 for the rest of it's life. I remember playing San Andreas and using the mouse and keyboard and shooting gang members heads off, and I would switch to my modded xbox controller when driving :) I had two 17" CRT monitors plugged in too!
2:42 We need to go back to bare DDR with all gold test points. Electronics should look good bare, enough of the black-on-black-on-black covered by black metal in modern hardware. The single-sided stuff looks even better, with all the traces going to the controller. Even if it only holds 512Mb, 4 sticks should do any XP build.
Hello, why they didn't use all solidstate capacitors on Geforce 4 Ti 4600, but only some? It's Asus. It's expensive. Anyway, why they used electrolytic capacitors, when they already put some solid? Seems Asus didnt have reason to save every cent on expensive highend card.
Ok I was stuck for it when I redid a fan recently and I used J&J Baby Oil. While baby oil is 99.9% light mineral oil I know I really should be using a proper oil. What is your recommendation for oil for these fans?
SOME NICE PC LOVE TE OLD DAYS HAVE MY SELF SOME GOOD WORKING OLD PC STILL NEET A LOT TO DO TO BILD THEM COMPLETELY te most parts i have already cleed up like new and soms part are missing but hopefully tis new year it will be completely and ope the same great look like that of your only maby not to pink
Ah the legend Athlon XP hopefully barton core. Then Athlon XP = Ryzen now day Price and performance unmatched So is the Pinky build trilogy concluded ? Or is there pinky build intel series ?
Best AGP card I ever used before PCIe came out, was a Nvidia FX5200 with 512 mb of video ram. I ran many K7 CPU's and boards back in those days. Several CPU's and boards died on me but that video card just kept goin... it worked flawless till the day I got rid of it.
i am going to have to come back to this video some day because "GTC China keynote spotlights Nvidia technology and research" hijacked this video for an hour and fifty seven minutes with no way to skip. I am pretty well pissed right now and have become no fan of either China, or Nvidia. In fact, even though I have bought dozens of Nvidia cards over the years, I will no longer support Nvidia. Nvidia is now officially dead to me.

Those coolers might be going for more efficiency these days considering how much heat everything puts out nowadays.
Brain:Time to sleep?
RETRO Hardware upload at 1.45am
Me: Nope, not yet.

the 2000's was truly interesting and exciting time to build pc's i know ive been there :D
Great video as always
Merry Pinkmas Retro Hardware and all of his viewers
i dont know why this is slightly more beautiful than modern pc nowdays,
Looks but it does not try as hard

Thank you for all the colors in this dark times. Smart catch with the FAN-sticker btw. 😎
this is beautiful
I always love seeing Quake III Arena. So many fond memories.
Почему сборка современного железа не вызывает трепетные чувства? В то время, собирая компутер, можно было душой отдыхать. Спасибо за видео.

That's awesome. Really appreciate your pink build and good to know that you have not done any black boring build.

1GB ram in 2003? Woaw.
Back then the only computer that I have was an old AMD K6-2 550Mhz 256MB RAM and a poor integrated GPU.
Even though it's "only" a directx 8 part, it's scary how fast that Ti4600 was in running those games. Well done.
This is so cool! I love seeing retro PC builds like this. Love how out there the designs and coloring for the motherboards and coolers were back in those days.

@Jeroen no doubt all of the above, and increased multitasking and 2010 internet demands increasing
Just awesome!!!

Not many pink cases out there! Also some of those parts look really cool with the colours!
Es hat mir gefallen!!!
Love it man, keep up the good work!

and thanks for the tips about the double sided tape for those unsticky fan sticker
nice hardware i always loved old hw
Amazing machine ;-)))))
Man i really wish you could still get PC parts in colors.
Still got my old amd xp-m to also build another retro pc
god i love these retro builds i still have retro parts i want to build a retro pc , still need a awsome retro case
I just built a modern build in the pink metal case pictured to the far left in the intro!
Man I love your channel. Where did you find all theses computers/parts?
Love these old amd cpus.
Greetings from France 🇫🇷👍
On the heatsink, there was a specific way to place the retention clip. Noticed that re-watching. Check your load temps to make sure its okay.
It is OK, I checked any socket A 10x times because small CPU die is easy to damage.
I used to have an Athlon XP myself once, it was my very first original AMD processor before my current laptop and my new Ryzen rig. I just don't remember anymore what kind of specs it had and whether it was a Barton or Thoroughbred.
Awesome stuff as usual!
That 13.18V on the 12V rail is a little too beefy, isn't it?
Btw that first motorbike theft attempt was exceptional :D :D
It is interesting. I tested this PSU with more setups and no problem. Don’t know how real are these numbers in MB BIOS.
That GPU though O_O

You know if iWill KD266 supports the ti 4600?
Very very schumel. Thanks !!!!!
Retro computers are great, until the motherboard backplate goes missing XD.
though seriously I frickin love old junk hardware.
what do you do with these builds after the video?
storage
What are these LEDs next to the PCI slots for?
do you have cards with an AGP Pro Interface?
computer of my dreams when i was small
wish you good luck for getting an ultimate Ti 4800-8x gpu
I'm so proud i voted for a pink build 😁
Someone probably learnt alot about the pitfalls of the via kt600 and via8237, avoiding 3 ram sticks @ 400mhz as well as sata drives XD.
Why only two RAM sticks? Any reason the third slot is empty?
Fortron PSU 🥰
New video fro RETRO Hardware? Upvote!
Hello can you give the product link
your girlfriend must be super happy :)
With Intel sparepart please
now get matching monitor and keyboard
MEEEN I FUCKIN LOVE THIS CHANEL

Omg those cases are so ugly! I love them XD

I had a build like this and basically tossed it in the bin in like 2012-2013 😢
Ok I was stuck for it when I redid a fan recently and I used J&J Baby Oil. While baby oil is 99.9% light mineral oil I know I really should be using a proper oil. What is your recommendation for oil for these fans?
I’am using silicone oil.

So is the Pinky build trilogy concluded ? Or is there pinky build intel series ?
