That's a great section of the Pinhoti. A special section to me because in 1976 as a YCCer I spent a couple weeks working in this section, one week doing maintenance at Pine Glen campground , and one week working construction of the Lower Shoals Shelter. Other teams had done the first work on the shelter so that by the time my team got there I remember we hauled in (from a service road 1\4 or so mile away to the north) shingles, nails, boards, etc. A very full wheelbarrow of supplies tipped and dumped its load down that steep hill towards the creek. We had a fun time retrieving everything while balancing on the hillside. As an 18 yo city slicker I had no experience with trails, and hiking, and forests, and dirt roads, so I had no idea the magnitude of the work we did those 8 weeks in the forest. I've visited the shelter but haven't slept there so I was astonished as you showed the rising sun shining into the shelter! What an awesome way to start a new day on the trail! I have enjoyed "hiking" the trail with you through the lens of your camera.
You definitely need to go stay in the shelter. It is super nice and I thank you for your part in its construction! I can only imagine the conversation surrounding the spilled wheelbarrow incident. 😬
Thank you! He was a great person and was always encouraging me in my endeavors. 🙂 I didn't show it in the video but I ended up grabbing a firestarter cube to get it going. 😁 It was too dang cold to be messing around. I always keep a couple cubes in my pack for backup.
Oh, YUM! ... Chunked AND Chucked chicken! 🤢 Oh no, right after that vivid memory, digging in poop??? 🤢🤮☠️ I needed the remainder of this video to quiet my stomach! Aside from the icky, this looked like such an awesome trip! I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your subscriber friend. I'm glad you and Irish Daisy got to share the Pinhoti. Congratulations! 💚👊
We hiked that section a few years ago, prior to my YT channel. Loved it. need to get back down there and hike more of the Pinhoti. I eat those type of pouches often, even at work. Bless her heart! Food poisoning is ROUGH! But at least she wan't 9 miles in to a 20 mile hike, when the food that you had for supper the night before decides to betray you. Last spring, I attempted the Alabama Triple Crown with Crow....We ate supper at {restaurant that must not be named} and the next day, about lunch, it hit. And it hit with a vengeance. Got off the trail, but then had to drive 2.5 hours home. Ended up losing 9 pounds! But no worries, I gained it back!! LOL! Did you ever get your stickers???
I love the pouch meats. So easy not having to rehydrate before eating. Irishdaisy didn't get sick from the chicken but it was the last thing she ate before her stomach erupted. Apparently the whole family was also sick while she was gone. I remember you and someone else getting sick from that restaurant that must not be named on the ATC. I'm planning to attempt the ATC this year. I hope we stay away from that restaurant prior to the hike. 😬 I finally finished all of the Pinhoti but I'll keep going back and hiking sections because it is such a wonderful trail and not terribly far away. Yes, I got my stickers! Thank you! And I have forgotten to send mine back to you but I'll get that fixed up and in the mail Monday. 🤦♀️
@@MtnWanderer-TieDye- I have a door in my office that I put stickers, but we are working on a podcast studio, and the plan is to have a wall of stickers, where I put stickers from other people’s channels, as part of the show. If you’d like to be placed on that wall too, send me a couple of stickers!
@@MtnWanderer-TieDye- well, if we don't explore and check things out we'll never get answers to our questions. I think it's great that you were digging around😀

So fun reminiscing. Realizing the cold wasn't that bad and the trip was very enjoyable.
I think I could handle another cold trip.
Awesome Video. Congratulations on finishing the Trail. That’s awesome. I love those Mora knives I have several.
I got that knife for myself for Christmas. 😄 I'm really enjoying it.
I’m sorry about the loss of your friend 😢
Great job on getting the fire going. Cold and wet weather wood is always so hard to get it going.
Cool trip.

We keep things lively for sure!
I guess it was a bit cold out on Trail! But with good company, it all worked out fine!
Have a great evening! Kaat
It was a bit cold but enjoyable.

Absolutely!
Looked like a fun time 😁
I thought you were going to get a piece of bone out of that poo 💩
We weren't sure what it was and I guess it was pretty gross digging through poo but interesting nonetheless. We are always digging around in nature. 😄
