I've been familiar with Unsplash and Pixabay because of my Digital Imaging college class, and now I've been using those sites whenever I need stock photos for something, whether it be a school project or a personal project.

MorgueFile is a bit so-so to me, but I've used them on occasion. As to the name: "Why is it called Morguefile? A morgue file is a place to keep post production materials for use of reference - an inactive job file. This term was popular with newspapers to describe the file that held past issues flats. Although it has also been used by illustrators, comic book artist, designers and teachers as well. It has evolved and in modern usage, its scope has expanded to cover many post-production materials for use of reference. "

One more and I'll clam up. Sometimes, we are saddled with WebP files. Browsers use them just fine, but some platforms don't allow them to be uploaded, especially social(ist) media. They have to be converted with photo editing software. Not such a big deal, but if I have to convert and edit an image right away, I just do a copy to clipboard and paste it in the software immediately.

Here is an area that I've written about extensively. Short form: Just because something is on the Web, it is not free to use in weblogs, sites, and so on. These free image sites are very helpful to keep people out of trouble. Some don't require credit, but be a pal, huh? It won't cost you anything.
Also, some of the sites are used by professionals who want to both contribute and possibly get hired because of their excellent work. Amateurs like me can contribute (if the quality standards are met, I have some on Unsplash under my name.) People donate to most with "Creative Commons 0", which means no copyright claims (as mentioned in the video). Some free picture sites are shady, so if they make their contact information and other things vague or nonexistent, skip it. I've used most of these, and am glad to get more tips shared here.
