  • Joe Kavaluskis always loved surprising his sons. When Joe learned he would lose his nine-year battle with cancer, he arranged for a final surprise. Logan Kavaluskis, 13, had always wanted a dog, but Joe's allergies made it impossible. So Joe arranged with his wife to get Logan a puppy. "He said, 'Just promise that when I do pass, that you get Logan a puppy as soon as you can, because I know that it will bring him a lot of comfort,'" Melanie Kavaluskis told InsideEdition.com. #InsideEdition

@UCkzA-uPl9xsgYp5lg3IZGRA maybe in this particular situation, it’s exactly what he should have done. Not everyone can handle a dog, but I’m sure this kid can seeing how much he wanted one for so long. And to have that animal be a gift from his dad would make him go the extra mile to live and care for that dog to the ends of the earth.

My grandma’s first husband (my bio grandpa, dad’s dad) died when my dad was also 11 in a car crash, and her 2nd husband died due to cancer. His final wish was to live in Tennessee for the final 2 years of his life, so my grandma literally up and packed up her things and moved them both to Tennessee for his final 2 years. Awe......bless! Even being at deaths door, this loving, caring and humble father made sure that his son’s wish was to be granted. And just watching the lad receiving his puppy tugged at my heartstrings. Knowing that his dad granted him one last wish, to have a puppy, must bring so much comfort and joy to the boy, and will do for many years to come. I’m sure ‘dad’ was smiling, perhaps with a wee tear in the eye too, as he looked down from heaven and watched as his much loved son was given the greatest gift of all from him, even though he couldn’t hand the gift over himself. God gained one almighty angel the day his father passed away, and the son gained a memory that he will never ever forget. God bless you all. ❤️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Makes me remember back when my dad was in hospital and we were called in to say goodbye. It came really sudden. Just a couple of weeks before my parents had gotten a puppy. We were all trying to stay strong for eachother and not break down. Shifting the focus to a little bundle of adorable fuzz and going outside to take her on a walk(and cry) helped a lot. I also think it helped dad in recovery too. It helps having a little clumsy energyball around.
