Scotty do you like USA made or foreign cars more? Second question do you support USA or foreign cars more? (Or does it just vary upon case to case?).
I use a Velcro belt, belts with buckles made of metal can scratch cars when you might half to lean on them if your not using a fender cover
I’ve been wanting to diy my colonoscopys . That scope seems just about perfect
I hope ur colon isnt a mercedes cuz its gonna be hard to fix
Don't follow up by a DIY operation though! Scotty hasn't shown us how, yet.
Don't ask me to assist, LOL!
You got one of those Bentley Buttholes? 'Cause that diameter looks a little wider than I am comfortable with... Hah!
✌️😎
Works great !! Use a lot of tire lube
“Look at me, I’m a coal miner!” 😂
We don’t deserve this dude! So entertaining and informative! Honestly one of my favorite RUclipsrs!
Damn Scotty , that's a $139 head flashlight ... Hawt dayumn. Anyway, good list. As always, I learned something from you.
Are you telling me that you've never known about headlamps until this video?
I’m friends with the guy who made the hood stay and he’s actually really smart and used school printers to test his design and found a prototype in engineering and produced a bunch more he’s really smart
That's really cool hope he does well. I like how simple it is. I have some evention ideas some are more complexed then others & hard to know how to actually create it into a product. I have admiration for someone who has done that really cool. my Xterra hatch keeps falling on my head I'll try to pick one up his up.
0:24 so simple and so marketable. Think of all the SUV owners with rear hatches, vans and hatchbacks too. I wish I would've thought of that.
Now I do have a 20 year old SUV, but the cylinders on it were like $11 a pair on Ebay.
The red light on those headlamps is for vision purposes. Your eyes take longer to re-adjust to night time when you use a regular (non-red) bulb, whereas with a red-bulb your eyes re-adjust (after using the light) much faster, that's the primary reason some have red lights (people will use the headlights for hiking or working at night, and may want to maintain their "night" vision -- such as photographers photographing at night). You can find all sorts of brands that have those lights in a headlight form (I bought a Bushnell version for $20 at Walmart). Still have it now 3 years later and it still works great.
I’ve had military guys tell me there also good for like if you’re in the navy and you’re on a ship and you got to wake up at 4 am cause you work in the kitchen you can get ready without wakeing up you’re bunkmates
Best photo ever lol 8:16 lololol. Good afternoon scotty lol
afternoon!
I ditched my $750 car payment and bought an old beater car for $3k. Scotty, your channel has been a lifesaver to help me keep this thing running while I pile up cash to upgrade. Thank you!!!
This is one of my personal new favorite videos. I never thought I would consider paying over $50 for a belt, but I'm seriously ready to. And I dislike most egocentric "influencers", but Scotty is a rare exception. I've also needed the pneumatic piston clamp before but had to use a stick, that product is awesome, it would have saved me $75 bucks and a couple of bruises.
"They don't have to be big" LOL. Sometimes you really crack me up with the photos! :)
You got me at 8:18 "You might not be a cave explorer!" Love your videos. I have learned so much.
Just a tip at 8.42 old mechanic of mine down here in Australia always had his belt buckle at the 10 or 2 o'clock position to prevent the buckle from scratching the fenders/guards when he was leaning over working on vehicles . Cheers from Down Under
Headlamps are an absolute must. But always get a rechargeable one.
"But I'm not a spelunker, I'm a mechanic."
Love it. Classic Scotty.
"Look at me, I'm a coal miner! " The way he did that had me rolling
He sounded like one of my kids. Hahahaha
😅😅
I’m picturing Zoolander carrying that tiny piece of coal
Scotty: "You can put it in all kinds of places (borescope)."
Note taken, Scotty. Note taken! 😜😜
That first gadget is awesome. I used to own a ‘88 T/A and it’s hood struts never stayed up, especially in the winter.
What doesn’t Scotty do? Fixes cars, product reviews, advice? Go Scotty!
Is he turning into Taras (Crazy Rusian Hacker)??
“Look at me, I’m a COAL MINER!” Rev up your canaries! 🤣🤣🤣
I love these smart little gadgets that fix issues that could otherwise cost tons of money.
I've had My 1 1⁄2" Wilson's Leather Belt For over 40 years ! No cracks no tears Same buckle !!!
Just ordered 2 x hood stays. What a great idea. I am from Australia so the postage was a little horrible , but Scotty mentioned the inventor is 18 y/o and the big bonus, the thing is Made in USA and not CCP China. I hope the 18 y/o sells a few million of them :)
Except for Honda struts..which have double lip seals....the single lip seals can be refilled with nitrogen gas...for peanuts.
You just have to know the pressure to which you need to pressurise them for the lift required.
The struts are placed inside a tube, the tube pressurised with nitrogen..which goes into the strut past the one-way seals...but the seal then stops the nitrogen coming back out.
Depressurise the filling tube...
take out the now repressurised gas strut...
reinstall and the strut works for another few years until the nitrogen again has very slowly leaked out....
How is the hood stay working out?
@@JackMeyHoffer562 Unfortunately they will not post to me in Australia even though there was the option for postage and I was more than willing to pay, indeed had paid. They refunded in full. They said postage was too high but never gave me an alternative. shrug. I guess they did not want the business.
@@Hathrandir I ended up getting it myself but the width of the hydraulic lifter is too thick so I'm going to try to unbolt the lifter and slide it in from the bottom Scotty makes it look so easy in the video.
@@Hathrandir ccp probably already made a cheaper copy out of chinesium
Another great tool is the new trickle chargers that automatically shut off when the battery is charged. As most of us know, overcharging can damage a battery. Cheap too! A must have for riding mowers which always seem to discharge over the winter.
I’ve had a Kore belt for about 2 years, almost daily wear. Love it!
I have so much love and respect for Scotty
You know what’s crazy. Im in several Tacoma groups on Facebook and majority hate him?

Thank you Scotty for the millionth time! I love channels like yours. Honest, direct and concise. I have continued to learn a lot from your wisdom.
You can buy a headlite for $36 and it will be just as bright.
This will work and save a lot.
Nitecore NU25 360 Lumen Triple Output - White, Red, High CRI - 0.99 Ounce Lightweight USB Rechargeable Headlamp with LumenTac Adapter
I use this for backpacking.
As for the belt. Had one forever. The ratchets will slip. But I still love the design of the belt better than traditional.
I like that strut clamp, tired of getting hit in the head with the hood in cold weather.
First one was a great idea. Beats a vice grip.
Scotty's doing fashion tips now! I'm hooked! Problem with those belts though: you have a couple of drinks and suddenly you forget how you unbuckled it. Then you're stuck in the loo panicking! 😁🐻😂
Lol
...this sounds like a story.
Has a 72yr old you can do that without having a few.. & everyone is wondering? What h--l are you trying too do!!.
I actually own that belt, and its great! However, it does take getting used to, and I’ve had my share of “oh sh;t” moments, but thankfully nothing literal.
I own this type belt an infant could work it 🤷🏻♂️
Kore Essential belts are great ! I've had mine for 3 years... great product
Scotty, you rule. I'm never less than thrilled with any of your videos. God bless brother :)
No one amazed by the perfect cross hatch still on that cylinder walls after those miles?
I love the belts, they hold up very well... I'm a plumber I've had mine for about 5 years.....
You are a gem of a person scotty i truly mean that keep being who you are never change
Scotty the best call to ring the bell ever
Hi Scotty, I take care of all 6 cars in my family. Great show and I learn something new in most shows.
Everyone should have a Scotty 😊
Always on point Scotty. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
I developed an electronic hood latch torque monitoring system. When I tried to patent it I found out that BMW already had it in use. Thanks for the video Scotty, whatever you’re doing to keep going keep it up.
You are freaking hilarious!
I've been watching just for the humor alone mostly.😂
Darn good salesman! Things you can use!!! Love this content Scotty!! 😂
I like the first one. I don't have that problem with my car, but I work at a body shop and I constantly have to use small vise grips to hold up hoods when the hydraulics have failed. I hope it catches on
Maybe you can get wholesale prices for your shop and resell them to your clients with the faulty struts
Gotta say that hood latch is great , sure beats my old broom stick
Best mechanic on earth I try to find faults but none too be found.Great work.Genius.
Thank You Mr Kilmer !🌞
The strut-clamp to hold open the hatchback or hood is ingenious ! It sure beats my broomstick method 🤡.

@Sc0tty Kilmer - i have a good vehicle but I appreciate the offer but can I hold on to your number ?
Awesome ,you have saved me so much money and have tough me so much. Recently I changed out my radiator. Dealership wanted almost 2grand!!!!! With your knowledge I did it for 290 bucks!!! Thank you Sir for all you do
Great video, like the coolant and battery fluid tester ! About 15 years ago i had the struts go out on the rear hatch on my Volvo Wagon, i had to order a replacement set from some small business guy in Canada that must’ve cost me about $70. That little steel piece would’ve came in handy then !
A 18 yr old.. Now that's great too hear Common Sense/A Idea? Is Alive And Well, And one didn't need a PC to make it happen.

My mechanic showed me to use a vise grip plier to keep my hood up.
The hood latch/strut clamp is my favourite. The rear door on the Pulsar hatch has clouted me on the head more times I can remember but with the car being so old (1998) I don’t really want to shell out for new struts. I’ve got to say the other products were pretty impressive too.
I just looked them up and a pair of rear hatch struts are $30 for your car, the strut clamp (which is cool) is $35.
When can I purchase these strut clamps and what is the product's name?
I remember when you had a measly 700k subscribers. Glad the mainstream audience has discovered your valuable content
2:27 Like litmus test strips, the instructions are to "shake off excess" not wipe off.
I wear a Kore belt everyday. They are awesome.
I wear a holster on an almost daily basis and while I really loved my 511 leather belt, it's stitching wore out. I retired it when it needs it, but that belt looks like a game changer. I should show it off to my fellow officers who wear their pistols when in civvies..
Mines a "Mission" belt. Love it too
@@elfpimp1 it's honestly perfect for EDC- and that's a high bar for myself. I've used 5.11 forever, their duty pants (I'm a fire-medic & work TCCC for regional SWAT/CERT/etc) and my everyday wear are 5.11 tac pants w/Kore belt. It's not TOO stiff (as most duty belts tend to be) and comparatively low profile in comparison to most carry belts- able to move/get out of vehicles, etc without feeling/looking like you've got a "Batman utility belt" propping you up.
I'd (& many officers and former USCG S&R Medics from my unit) absolutely recommend for officers/any EDC civvie who carries IWB or OWB.
Love the “cave explorer” imbedded photo…classic! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I bought new struts for my2006 Lexus, both hood and trunk, about 4 years ago. They work great and cost very little from Rock Auto. VERY easy to replace......
"THEY DON'T HAVE TO BE BIG"😂
While the hood strut clamp is a great invention, you can get a lot of replacement struts for $10-20 a piece on eBay. I've replaced a few.
One thing about the brake fluid test strips. It doesn't test what in the caliper. That's usually the fluid that goes bad.
He didn't link the test strips...

@@JohnSmith-yv6eq I have a single strut holding up the hood of my Audi I purchased 2 years from ebay for like $11... Still works perfectly!
Re the fluid in the caliper; I agree and I was surprised that Scotty didn't crack open the bleeder a little when pushing back the pistons...it gets rid of that hammered fluid and it makes it easier to push back the pistons...plus it doesn't force fluid back throught the ABS system....
Love the way Scotty explains everything!
Excellent review of some great products. Thank you so much for the information.
Scotty as usually the Best! Any advices from him is really tough! His really great Hotshot!
Agreed !
Scotty: "i'm not worry about lost fixing cars" LoL, good one
Scotty, I ordered the Phoenix Systems coolant/brake fluid test strips because of your honest recommendation.
Damn I wish I knew about that pneumatic strut clamp so many bumps on the head lol when I forgot to put my stick there OUCH!
A headlamp is a must for any break-down kit. It leaves my hands free for night time repairs, such as changing tyres or swapping out a blown headlight bulb.
I've been using a couple of very similar belts for years. You're right, they do last a very long time. The only downfall is they are so tough that experience tells me they can easily wear a hole through car seat covers.
“Stick it in the hole” Scotty’s fav phrase 😜
I could have used that clamp thing thirty years ago. Every car I bought with a hatch had broken lifts
I love watching Scotty's video's. "It's my regular belt too!"
I love when Scotty does new products! Keep it up!!!
Gotta love a good headlight. The light goes where your head (and attention) goes. Frees up your hands because you don't need to hold it. Long gone are the days with a mini-mag in your teeth.
Great videos, very informative and entertaining. Been driving Toyotas since i was 20. They rarely need work. I'm 65
Headlamp is a life changing tool. Jobs are a million times less frustrating when you can see what you're doing
Scotty: Can the Kore belt be used in a pinch to replace a drive belt on an engine?
Love my KORE Essentials belts. Have 3 of them now. May even get a 4th one soon. Another great video 👍
My 'hoodstay' is a piece of 6" x 1/2" C channel aluminum with a strong magnet glued on. Cheap and effective.
Drain and refill coolant, brake fluid tank, clutch fluid tank, power steering tank once a year. Cheap and effective insurance.
I have that belt as my regular belt. Tough as nails but very stiff. Built to last. Love the ratcheting mechanism for a perfect fit
An 18 year old kid really invented those steel strut locking clamps? They're great. Just one holds up the hood on my 7.5 gen Accord. Plus the set of struts to replace is like 100 bucks.
I need that Bore scope, Scott Dogg!!!
Also...
HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY BROTHER MAN!!!
✌️😎🤙
T time finding
Actually, I'll take one of those ratcheting belts please!!! I have the hardest time finding a quality belt that will laste, and hold my pants up. I'm a Bigg guy, but my weight constantly fluctuates every winter @nd summer by quite a bit...I live in Alaska, so I need my winter weight!!!
Hah!
just replace the struts. the clamp is just a bandaid
@@GuerreroDelInfo Exactly, those struts aren't that expensive
That's strange, I can buy NEW struts for my tailgate at Princess Auto for about $10 Cdn each.
Yes - knock off struts for an 89 Lincoln Town Car cost around $15 a pair. Work like new !! No bothering with screwing in or out - no need to tell a mechanic about the small device.
Kore belts are simply fantastic. I’ve got 3 of them and I will never use another belt. The best belt out there IMO.
My 96 Ford Taurus is twenty-five years old and I just finally replenish to brake fluid last week. It had the original brake fluid, and it has the original master cylinder and calipers. Original CV shafts to
Scotty, great program, but I already have a broom handle to hold up my hatch. I just had a yard sale and was surprised that all my old test equipment for my 65 Fold sold in a heartbeat.
I still have my dwell meter. Never know when I'll need it (probably never). But I still use a timing light and vacuum gauge to help set the timing on my Jeep.
Same here. Penske, from Sears. Dwell & light. Just wish I still had my 1970 Skylark I bought them for.
I have all of those tools too, and a tip. Don't buy liftgate or hood struts from wherever Scotty shops because they're only $14 at RockAuto.
There's no way Scotty could possibly live in a housing development that has an HOA.
My question is “Who finds it liberating living in an HOA ? The only restriction in my neighborhood is “No raising pigs”. I can live with that but what I see from HOAs would brand me a criminal the day I moved in. No way I’ll ever be told what I can’t do on my own property and having no mortgage it’s mine not the bank
Scotty's picture props!! LoL 😆
Doritos, Snap On, Baseball Hat....& Duck
Scotty - you Always have the best reviews on all kinds of products.
Thank you so much.
Rev up your transmissions😁🤘
I wonder if those piston clamps work with a toolbox lid.
It looks like it can. Measure the clearance between the piston housing and the wall of your box. I know it works on the larger cabinet types that lift up but don't slide into their own top.
My Kore belt is nearly 3 years old. Still seems brand new. Good addition to the video.
I've had belts like that for a couple years...love em.
6:58 Scotty says, "I'm a coal miner" when he's really digging pure gold!🤣
break fluid can't be measured when the car is cool, it should be measured after respective ride, until break fluid became about 65 degrees. those stripes don't lie, but you shoud use them right to give you the truth.
at 8:16 funny cheeky pic for "You may not be a cave explorer" haha
Scotty LOVES when things are made of metal.
I'm not sure about original brake fluid after 14 years. That may be the first thing I have not agreed with Scotty on....
That little hoodstay is $34.95! A shop might want a couple of these but an individual no.The battery tester is a bargain at $29.85. That head light lamp better be great for $139.95. The belt is $64.95!
I guess we should all be happy that Scotty found a good belt to hold his pants up?The borescope is not bad at $50.99.
My hoodstay was cheaper AND you can sweep the driveway with it when it's not propping up you hood or hatch!!!
Considering the hood stay is a permanent fix for a broken part, that's pretty affordable. Also, that's the price you pay when parts are made in America.
As for the belt, it's a life time belt. You buy it once, and that's it. They're not made to break so you have to keep buying more and more. Also I'm assuming it's also made in America.
@@myemail2005 Yeh, Scotty has been using a broom handle for years.
I bought a Kore belt almost 3 years ago. I wear it every day and I work construction in it. It still has years left.
I've been wearing a headlamp to fix my cars for decades. Great stuff!
What a brilliant little clamp!!!
I like to roll up the fat Woolford and get all schmoked up whenever Scotty Kilmers tests the new products
I have one of those belts, had it for two years and the metal on the rachet broke... a good thing I bought two. I bought another one for a spare, I love it.
Cool stuff. The 1st one is like " SO SIMPLE & IN PLAIN SIGHT" that everyone, " EXCEPT" the inventor, didn't even "SEE" it!!! 😲👓👓👓
