Just finished Hard Mode. Beside levling up and materia as much as possible. If you assessed every monster/boss on a previous playthrough you know their weakness in advance, thats when elemental materia + fire,ice,lightning or wind comes in handy as you can take advantage on bosses big time- same with defense, elemental materia + whatever they use (this boss use fire for ex, right? so elemental+ fire in defense works great here). Beside that the same strat that worked in remake works in rebirth - I used cloud, barret and red xii/tifa 90% of the game. Barret should be the healer, pray+atb boost materia, that way you can always get off a free AOE heal without using MP. and since he is good with ranged combat and tanky, he is perfect to be the healer. Tifas Triangle (up in the air) then downkick still does insane dmg and carried me through tons of bosses by crushing them insanely. Just make sure she has some strenght materia and luck (for extra crit chance) and Good luck. OH... and fuck hard mode! ps! Magnify materia should never be used with heal, you want that for barrier to give everyone protect/shell which basically make the hard mode enemies hit you like... normal mode. The 5 hardest bosses in hard mode for me was: Midgardsormr, that mithril cave boss ( coming soon after this) vincent boss, rufus and sephiroth.
I forgot to add, I used the Slipstream Saber for Cloud as my weapon through Hard Mode with: trade off- recover MP when taking a lot of damage. mp recovery rate up: slightly increase MP regeneration during battle. and the last two is for you to pick, either extra counter dmg, or extra physical dmg or more magical attack power. is what works the best. Basically since Cloud can self heal with Chakra, every time they do a lot of dmg against me I recover MP. Saved me a few times on Hard Mode.
Magnifie + healing materia, to cast aoe regen and cura spells (Curraga in a pinch); Or Lifesaver with Barret and focus healing on him; Magnifie + Barrier materia and cast aoe manawall (Alternative Magnifie + time materia to have aoe haste); On hard all party members needs be equipped with HP up, healing and revive materia
What level are your materia ? Also, how many Elemental and Magnify do you have ? With All lvl 3 spells linked to maxed out materia like Elemental, Swiftcast, Magic Focus and MP Absorb most bosses on hard go down in few seconds. Ok forget that ... looking at your video i got the issue, you are way underleveled and underequipped for hard difficulty, of course you can play whatever way you prefer, i won't criticize or mock, just giving advices.
Yeah I’m seeing that now, I face tanked my first play through with the same struggle builds in this video 😂currently grinding to get materia for everyone
@@peteypullover8924 unfortunately, the best materia and accessories are obtained with Chadley's simulator or noticeboard quests, and i believe you ignored those in the first run.

Snake boi announced every attack 3 whole seconds in advance and you ignored… then of course he’s hard! What were you thinking, like “I didn’t pay $60 to block”?
