Guys!
- Use loft instead of boundry,
- When making the extrusions don't check the merge results box, or else you wont be able to shell the lofts of the intakes,
- Add new sketches at the end of the extrusions to create a shape, based on the cross section of the intake/extrusion,
- Use these new sketches with the original sketches and use loft cut, to create holes that don't make gaps from the outside.
I hope my advice finds you well, fellow inquiring strangers!
Kind regards.
At 4:06 the diamension, equal to 238.13, should be 217.49, so that the part fits fine to the final assembly.
u comments r so helpful
this all rigth..

These videos are fun and are a way for people to become familiar and confident with using SolidWorks. There's a problem though, and it's in the way you make these videos and most importantly the way you make these parts. Like many others have stated here, you basically left a faulty unfinished part with a lot of open surfaces and didn't care to fix it, in other words you're misleading people and you're encouraging poor design technique. Please review your designs carefully before posting them out there. I understand that these are just "basic" examples of real life applications, but in a real life application you won't get promoted by showing up to work with unfinished faulty designs. Please dude, if you're going to do such thing as SW tutorials, then do them correctly.
If you're having problems in the shell, make sure you tick the box for Shell Outward. I had the same issue :-)
This is all wrong...
I think the boss-extrudes in the middle of the part could do with going in the reverse direction. At the moment there's geometry inside which is a bit messy. Otherwise great part, really helped.
That is how I fixed the open ends. Create a reference plane 50.8 from front plane. Make your pipe connection drawing there. Then extrude from the pipe connection drawing 50.8 backward. Be sure to shell outwards!
Hello! i am going to tell you how i fix the problem with the holes.step1.- offset the 6 squares 6.35 (outside) before boundary base (i used lofted boss now). step 2.- convert intities that 6 offset squares. step 3.- hide the first 2 sketches and use the 2 sketches with only the offset squares. step3.- use lofted boss instead of boundary base with the offset squares (in star/end constraints put normal to profile in both) step4. Show again the first 2 sketches to extrude the squares as shown in the video (extruded complete without selecting contour) . step5.-in a new sketck convert into intities the 6 original squares and keep only this 2 sketches (hide the others) step6.- lofted cut and set both normal to profile. step 7.- continue with the rest.
Hope this could help you and sorry if my english is not the best. like so everyone can see this
Hey Man , Thanks a lot !!
Sir plz check this component both sides of shell holes in correctly matching the cylinder head in assembly
Sir, there are a lot of open surfaces. Analysis is not an option for such parts. How can I make this part better ?
So the manifold has a lot of open surfaces at the end, do you resolve those at some point? Am I missing something?
+DaleCooper444 try making the part with surfaces and then convert to solid. Much easier to create the part this way, without all the open surfaces.
this part does not fit in final assemby.. please fix it
I have SolidWorks (older ver) but I would sure like to have a download of those engine parts in SolidWorks parts files. I would like to make a 3d print of those parts and put them together as a model.
When making the third shell at 7:34 I get an error even with shell outward. Anyone got a fix?
смести вектор операции "граница" в разные нижние углы
Its because you linear pattern sketch 1 with same length one time insted of doing it twice watch carefully first pattern and secend pattern are different length
This doesn't fit in the assembly..
i made same as the video but didn't able to assemble it in the main assembly file. am i missing something?
During making shell REMEMBER to click on SHELL OUTWARD. if not, the error will occur
thanks a lot :)
Would have been nice if there was some sort of narration as the user flies through the assembly.
My only complaint is that the operator goes thru the steps so quickly that the video has to be replayed numerous times to catch all of the drawing steps, when you're trying to learn the procedures it makes doing so more difficult, there are many drawing steps to take in, thanks for the information either way!
I can't made the last Boss Extrude
At 2:56 change the given 82.55mm to 94.265mm. Helps somewhat during assembly.
did you do something at 9:32 to 9:36?
yes,the shell thickness need to be divided by 2
then he changed back to 6.35 again
Idk why people are complaining about these tutorials so much. If you are good with this software you'll be able to keep up with him and avoid doing mistake. Think before doing a step that why you are doing it rather than just copying from the video
error in shell ? what happen ?
+Kiệt Nguyễn Hữu el error se arregla corriguiendo el boundary
you need confirm shell outward
@@rinoga7 thank you
Why copied not mirrored?
steven strandberg the second half is not symmetric to the first!
SolidWorks Tutorial ☺ hello
I love this channel, but man, this manifold is bullshit. Just take section view to lover half of part (reference top plane) after you finish modelin, what a mess
