    I have been selling my own created action clothing line on eBay for a decade without any of these compliance thing. If I have to do all the testing on Amazon which I have about 100-200 unique individual products, I would have to spend up $70,00 just for the safety testing done for these doll clothes. I am currently hit with multiple compliance requests on Amazon which made me wanting to stop selling on the platform

      I can understand that. I know they are trying to keep things safe for it’s customers but it makes it hard for Amazon sellers to survive. I sell on both platforms currently but most toy items are on EBay.

    • @PassiveIncomeLifer

      Thank you and the certificates were the results of the testing that was done. Whatever test you get when it’s completed they give a certificate. I was getting testing done for lead content and it was $200 per test when I did it years ago. The price is dependent on the type of text and who you use! Hope that helps.

    thank you for the video, very informative. i have a question and would appreciate some help, so i'm sourcing form Alibaba and want to sell a bath toy on Amazon, i'm going to check with the manufacturer to get all the needed documents ( CPC, Lab tests....), however, i'm still working on getting approval from Amazon, can I buy any bath toy from a wholesale supplier in USA just to get the approval and then after sell my toy? i heard I'll probably get declined if i bought from a manufacturer outside US.

    • @PassiveIncomeLifer
      @PassiveIncomeLifer  4 месяца назад

      Unless you are sending your item straight to Amazon from your Alibaba supplier, Amazon will not know where you sourced your product especially if you are doing private label. If you are certain the product is the same that you can get from a US wholesaler, you should be good. Before you purchase make sure you can get the appropriate paperwork or it will be a waste of money.

    I’m going to start selling a baby high chair on Amazon next month, please I want to know if they are going to ask me for the cpc test reports and requirements in the moment I start selling or do they do it weeks or months once the product is selling, thanks

      If you are creating a new listing it can be required when you create it. If you are attaching to another listing it can be weeks or months. I have only gotten the requirements on toys. You may have other safety requirements with furniture. There should be safety paperwork with your furniture unless you got it overseas or wholesale. Did it not come in the packaging? If this is going to be a continuous product for you and you have good margins you may want to do the research to find the information on the companies website if a major retailer.

    Hello, thank you for the video. I had a couple questions:
    1. Is it still profitable to sell on Amazon &/or Ebay if, let’s say, you’re importing products from Alibaba (or even from a U.S. supplier) that require compliance documentation? I ask b/c obviously product compliance is a big issue and at the same time, it’s very expensive to get your products lab tested. Does selling on Ebay and Amazon have the intended income that it would before these compliance mandates were put into place? (I know that Ebay technically doesn’t have those mandates on their website yet, I’m just curious b/c obviously U.S. law trumps all else).
    2. What are the options if, for example, you would like to find & sell products that don’t pose such a threat to consumers? Perhaps there are products that are safer, and therefore more feasible to buy and sell b/c they don’t require as much documentation?

    • @PassiveIncomeLifer
      @PassiveIncomeLifer  2 года назад

      These are excellent questions and the answer is, it depends. The compliance mandates are crippling some sellers and others have no impact. If you are a seller that gets things off of clearance aisles in stores, there will be things you are not going to be able to sell like toys, at least not on Amazon without the proper paperwork. If you are buying from a wholesaler, I would see if that have the paperwork first before you purchase. If you can get this from them, you will be fine. At the moment many people have switched there products to eBay so they can still profit from their products. If you have a choice I would find products you can sell outside of those requirements. I still sell toys but I get them from approved wholesalers. Everything will eventually have requirements just to keep the quality level high on Amazon which will help avoid counterfeiting and dangerous goods. It is still a great way to make income, you will just need to get a more structured process. I would not buy to have testing done on anything unless this is a private label product you intend to sell continuously.

    Hi thanks for the video i am self employed . I have used an existing asin to list my product and now have a conformity compliance proof request. My product has on the package uk certified sign. No upc number as i do shipping by seller. How do or can i process with this . Thanks

    • @PassiveIncomeLifer
      @PassiveIncomeLifer  9 месяцев назад

      Thanks for the question. One thing you want to make sure of is that your product is identical to what you’re selling if there is no UPC because they consider that as one form of authenticity even though people can get around that. 2nd as far as proving your product is compliant you will have to provide the data they are requiring. In regards to items I had it was toy compliance. I would have had to provide lead testing results. Luckily my item was for older children and the item was passed through. I rarely sell toys on Amazon now and have moved them to Ebay. I know this wasn’t much help but with all the requirements Amazon is doing to protect consumers it is hurting 3rd party sellers.

    Hello , Great video thanks for helping. I wanted to ask what if its a DOG TOY do they still require documentations for that? Also do you know what could be the cost for testing the TOY in USA ? Moreover, Can I take a chance order inventory to amazon and if something happens then get everything shifted to EBAY ?

    • @PassiveIncomeLifer
      @PassiveIncomeLifer  9 месяцев назад

      I haven’t ran into dog toy issues. I would say make sure your product can be sold on EBay before getting inventory. Is the product covered by a verified rights owner on EBay? You can run into that from a branding perspective on EBay and Amazon. If you are good and your profit is still there then go for it. As far as testing look up toy testing areas but it’s $1000s to do that or it was for me. I was testing for lead on my item but it wasn’t a toy, it was clothing with some medal on it and was for kids.

    • @PassiveIncomeLifer
      @PassiveIncomeLifer  2 года назад

      You shouldn’t have a problem with a pillow. Just make sure you choose the right category. Before they started all of the compliance mandates, people would select categories they thought would get their product seen faster. Don’t do that and if the product listing is incorrect you need to work with Amazon to correct or it will get flagged.

    I have a feeling that you will get this "Product compliance requests" if your product is simply wrapped inside a clear poly plastic bag without any label (only the FNSKU Barcode).
    Let's say your product is fully private labelled with its own packaging and your company logo, do they still ask for this "Product compliance requests"?
    Can you confirm?

    • @PassiveIncomeLifer
      @PassiveIncomeLifer  3 года назад

      No it’s the fact that it’s a toy and it has to meet US safety and quality compliance. The only way to prove this if it’s your own product is to get official toy testing via a lab. If you have a product you private labeled you will need to get that proof from your manufacturer. It has nothing to do with barcoding. Your product will be pulled and your listing blocked if you don’t provide the proper paperwork.

    • @brosephvarabroccoli9134
      @brosephvarabroccoli9134 Год назад

      @@PassiveIncomeLifer so from what I’ve seen, through cpsia and cpc requirements, the seller is required to give the purchaser a pre posted registration form that the customer can register their product with the company- in the event of a recall. This helps better track the products.

    • @PassiveIncomeLifer
      @PassiveIncomeLifer  Год назад

      Okay I think I understand what you are saying. If you are reselling the product, that card should already be in the box. If you are creating your own product then you would have to create all of that yourself but that would be based on the type of product you have and I don’t think you are creating a product like that. Example you had a new type of baby bottle. If there was a recall on the material you used for that bottle, your customers should have a way of getting a refund or a replacement. To do that your product would need to have a number that identifies when they were created like a lot number. Those numbers could help track them and let you know if they were part of the bad batch. The card you create would have that same number along with information on how to contact your customer service. It’s a lot but only if your are creating a product yourself. Not if you are reselling from a store or wholesaler as those items should already be in the boxes you purchased.
