In my youth, I dismissed it as 'old people's music.' It had surfaced again in the 60's, sung brilliantly by Ella Fitzgerald. My young soul ached for music more rebellious, edgier. Rock blossomed; I got my wish. I never looked back.
Fast forward to 2019. Now it's my turn to be old. The people who made crooners popular are long in their graves; but I remember those people. I remember their love for the music. Could be I'm even seeing merit in those old songs, an echo of the enthusiasm that older generations felt for them.
So you walk up to the mic dressed as a lounge singer from Las Vegas' long-ago heyday and give us the softest, most heart-wrenching rendition of the song I've ever heard.
It works exceedingly well, and the videography was inspired, too.

I agree that this cover is fantastic. She doesn't use the power in her voice as much as Mama Cass, but as this song is one of my favorites and to hear this version, well, I can die a happy man right now. This angel was a hidden gem that I feel blessed to have found her.

Anne this video was superbly done. Your dress, the microphone and even the way you moved are period accurate to the 1930s and 40's. You spend a lot of time and effort getting each song that you do as accurate as possible to its time period, and it shows.

If I can offer you one tip to help you heal, one that I didn’t ever want to do but after much thought, meditation and contemplation I managed to do - was forgive those who had harmed me and negatively impacted me the most.
It was not easy and I still often need to remind myself not to lose my place with that.
Here’s why it mattered so much and had such a beneficial impact in my healing: because by offering forgiveness to others I was shocked to discover I began to also forgive myself for decisions I had made that led me to places I didn’t belong and never deserved to be in. It caught me completely off guard but it was exactly what I needed. I started to remember who I was before others tried to break me and destroy me, my reputation and my life. That was the guy who was happy once and while I’m still a work in progress I’m staying on this path and I will prevail. I have prevailed.
You will too. Sending good karma from this fellow traveler. 😊
Don't give up. As Anne so wonderfully demonstrates, there is still joy, wonder, and hope to be found in this world. It can be hard to find at times, but hold on to those nuggets when you do find them. Keep them close to your heart and don't let them go. And when times get really hard, come back here and binge Anne Reburn music. That's what I do.
