Building an initial audience and breaking through is the hardest thing for most new artists. While you may have made some compromises to get there, you learned from that process more about who you want to be as an artist WHILE gaining a fan base. That’s so huge. Millions of artists make music that is true to to who they are that never gets heard, because they never did what was necessary to get attention initially.
This was a treat lol! love Jeris! he's that dude that your best friend is friends with that you never really hang with one on one but when you wind up at a party or show together you are always stoked to see him. 😎
Same here. My fav so far was chokehold but that darkness one is also amazing. A bit to piratey in the end for me but a perfect mix of that Nickelback/avenged sevenfold/'tallica black album/HipHop vibe.
I listened to this interview for about fifteen minutes and became curious about this guy, and then I listened to his music and became very disinterested in him. And it made me thankful that there are bands like TOOL out there who actually put effort into their music.
@@uneedborda Not a single person has ever said "you have to be elitist to be a punk rocker" lmfao Idk what circles you run in but man I'd hate to meet your group hahaha
I’m not saying this to be mean, but this dude comes off as terrible in this interview. And as someone who was kind of interested in what he had to say, this was disappointing. I’ve been watching this interview over the course of a couple of days. He routinely talks about how he’s pushing boundaries and he’s just not. I’m going to try to not sound like an old blues player right now. He’s a guy who had a couple of bad covers/remixes chart by doing the same thing DJs have been doing the past 40 years. Nothing about it is “pushing boundaries.” Nothing about it is innovative. Like the fact that you have to say over and over again that it’s pushing boundaries means it’s not. I’m glad you have this success. But damn, dude, be a little more self aware.
Really interesting chat. The negativity bias is so real. I agree with your theory on why it exists. And I definitely agree that the tortured artist bit is overplayed. You don't need to be majorly fucked up to be a good artist. In fact you probably shouldn't be.
Maybe no record company would want me anyway but I make my music in my own studio and publish/promote it by myself. Does it take longer, have a lower professional standard and get heard by fewer people? Unfortunately yes. But at least *I get to make the music I want to make* instead of being censored or pushed into stylistic/artistic directions in which I do not want to go just because some capitalist wants to maximise profit from it. And all my deadlines are self imposed; if I miss a deadline, only I'm pissed off at me.
Why do you think I’ve been telling you to advocate for the immediate full abolition of all intellectual property laws, Finn?? You’ve been so reactionary in your opposition, it’s baffling. Now you can do it though. Start now. Make up for your mistakes.
Dude just talks too „big“ for me. His music is not even close to being as „boundary pushing“ as he promotes it. Most of it is boring and has been done hundreds of times. He seems smart, but it‘s just wayyyy too much „i‘m a real artist“ for me. Guy makes „ok“ music and acts like it‘s groundbreaking stuff, which it really isn‘t. None of it „challenges“ me as a listener in any way. He just puts Trap shit in between rock riffs, wooow, so groundbreaking 😂
Dont like this guys music. Like this guys willingness to talk and admit there is some regret. I dont hear much from tiktok, but maybe this guy is it. Hope he does good music someday. Butthop could probably just go away.
@24kgoldplatedvermeil yes why did I say beetles became there is nothing new that can be done anymore heavy metal rap we got pop metal there is so many thing in the music industry that has been done there's nothing new anymore I play drums and guitar on stage myself for side money this guy is alittle difficult but not new because everything has been done not even a new voice or lyric can be don same thing with movies why do u think they keep on doing live action stuff with the same story
This kid is so confused and doesn’t know who he is and it’s evident in his music. Like a spoiled brat that has to have everything he sees, and can’t make a definitive decision. He’s right though, he does need to go back and learn who he is, but not just musically, spiritually. You will never know who you truly are and meant to be in this world, until you have a personal relationship with the One Who made you personally. He is the One who gives life, and purpose and meaning to this life.
47:45 This guy seems smart but he very subtly talks like he’s gods gift to earth and genius a few times throughout the interview. I get most if not all artists have a hint of narcissism by wanting to be in the spotlight but shit like the part I’ve tagged comes off like a snarky Reddit dude lmao smh

love your energy XD ♥

So thankful for this wisdom, thank you both! Always appreciate it when artists share about their journeys and give us a behind the scenes look. ❤
And that's why my band puts out our own stuff. (Mainly because we suck)

You mentioned Jeris a while back and I have been a fan of him ever since.
Same for me too. This shit he’s coming out with is dope!
Truth
Same for me as well

Lol, chokehold is by Sleep token. Also a weird pop metal band, but much better than Jeris' Krueger-core bullsh!
I quit the video after the 300th "like" from that dude.
Love this guys attitude, we need more personalities like this advocating to pump up music

Stoked for the new Jeris album, and the supporting tour!

I perceive his music as really tryhard wannabe shit but the guy is no dummy for sure
Quite insightful and inspiring

Just from the number of times he’s mentioned Nickelback & Kidrock.

Record labels don't suck. They just don't want people who actually suck at making music like Jeris and Ronald representing them.
But see pop music don't really use skill either all the same beat or same 4 cords Ed sheran proved it aswell
