    Pink Floyd would take 2-3 years to make an LP..Like Steely Dan, they believed it was better to spend more time in the studio than touring. And you will LOVE the Pulse show..it's a signature performance by the band, with stunning visuals and a studio-perfect sound!

    Pink Floyd (David Gilmour and Nick Mason) recently showed their support for Ukraine by recording a new track 'Hey, hey rise up!' w/ vocals by Ukrainian singer Andriy Khlyvnyuk of BoomBox... He sang acapella on video and Pink Floyd added instruments to his vocals.
    Very touching musical moment in a dark hour of war...
    Former bassist/ vocalist Roger Waters has been under fire for his support of Russia and his antagonism towards the current US gov.

      Waters was the conceptual genius of Pink Floyd. After he left the 3 remaining members carried on as a simulacrum of the former band. It was still technically brilliant but had lost its edge. Polly Samson's lyrics made it even worse.

    • @sumonjamal1653
      @sumonjamal1653 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@utnaturalem4379 Really, then why didn't Roger Water's solo albums have an impact? He couldn't even sell out a theater in 1987 while Pink Floyd sold out a stadium nearby... Even David Gilmour's recent solo albums did better than anything Waters put out recently... And that's a FACT 😈
      The fact is that Pink Floyd was a collective like The Beatles... and what made them GREAT was the chemistry that the 4 members brought to their records... U take out 1 and it loses the chemistry... John Lennon went solo and he was not as successful as Paul McCartney because his partnership w/ McCartney made his songs even better...
      Roger Waters was the lyricist of Pink Floyd... but the music came from David Gilmour and Richard Wright... and without them 2, it is obvious why Pink Floyd's 'The final cut' was forgettable at best... (Waters basically would not work w/ Gilmour on those songs) And even Waters admitted that he was a messed-up pr!ck in his last years in Floyd...
      What David Gilmour did in 1987 was resurrect Pink Floyd w/ Nick Mason, Rick Wright and studio pros... and he did a damn great job or Pink Floyd would have ended up playing theater shows the way Roger Waters did after leaving the band...
      David Gilmour did not repeat the same doom & gloom that Waters brought to the table... It was still Pink Floyd... it was still great... and it was different because the band chemistry had changed without Waters. And millions of Floyd fans bought those last few records because the music stood up and still stand tall w/ all the Pink Floyd classic records... regardless of what you think.
      Finally, Roger Waters is an iconic songwriter, but if he was a 'genius'... he would not have put himself on his current quagmire which basically made his 'Pink' character from 'The Wall' movie a reality.

    • @gorski989
      @gorski989 5 месяцев назад +1

      Roger Waters didn't support Russia, he actually expressed an objective view to whole thing.

    • @sumonjamal1653
      @sumonjamal1653 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@gorski989 Does this sound 'objective'?
      I think NOT 👎
      Roger Waters: "the Russian invasion of Ukraine was not unprovoked, so I also condemn the provocateurs..."
      Waters blamed NATO and USA for 'fueling the conflict'... when all they did was provide arms, weapons and training to repel Russia's ILLEGAL genocidal invasion...
      We all KNOW that Putin wants to establish a new Russian 'empire' w/ Ukraine as a captive nation... Russia attacked Ukraine even after seizing Crimea and falsely claimed their invasion was "de-nazification" of Ukraine (which was and is a LIE)
      Waters '...suggested that China has a better record on human rights than the U.S. Describing China’s history of suppression of its own people as “bollocks,” Waters said, “The Chinese didn’t invade Iraq and kill a million people in 2003.” He defended China as having the right to invade Taiwan, saying, ““They aren’t encircling Taiwan - Taiwan is part of China and that’s been absolutely accepted by the whole of the international community since 1948.” '
      I call BS. That's NOT 'Objective' at all 😈

    🦁There are no near competitors to Pink Floyd. They can't be compared to other bands for no other band sounds like them, or writes about the context they do with such connectivity to the soul and our reservoir of emotions. There are plenty of bands that are epic, masters, and truly the best of what they do, but there is no other band like Pink Floyd.
    Always a pleasure seeing you react to such wonderful music.

    The chatter in the background before he leaps of the ciff is actually Nick Mason himself doing pre-takeoff checks. I love how the colours of the flag of Ukraine came about, really links it to the land and the country. David Gilmour's daughter-in-law is from Ukraine, hence he was inspired to release a single where the proceeds were donated to helping people out. 🦁

    The video touches on Native American belive in mystical shape shifting. Hear a native American shap shifts into a bird. Hallucinogens are used in spiritual practices which might cause euphoric feelings, sometimes even feelings of flying. The lyrics freqently mention "earth bound mystic high". I belive this is another reference to using these Hallucinagens, and the euphoric effects they may have.

    I love the dress you are wearing......I would suggest you have a close look at the band's history -- especially the formative years when Syd Barrett was guitarist, vocalist and songwriter. Listen to the first album "Piper At The Gates Of Dawn" --- two songs in particular: "See Emily Play" and "Bike".....
