I don't know whether or not this would help you, but they have actually changed the ingredients at least of the Not Your Mothers Curl Talk defining cream. I plan on posting a video about it next week. It will be interesting to see if it still works just as well.
I also use the hask cream, because it was one of the few curl creams I could find in a drug store. I agree that you cannot really use it on its own. Other than that I really like the slip and fell of my hair after using it. The smell also fades relatively quickly so I think it is alright. I am really impressed by the not your mothers curl cream. It looked so voluminous and shiny.
I'm glad I'm not alone in my love for the Hask curl cream. ☺ it's one of my favorites. But I was very surprised with the NYM curl cream results. It was amazing!
There could be a few reasons The curl talk cream may not work for others: - polyacrylamide is the third ingredient and it gives the hair hold by inhibiting the hair's ability to absorb moisture so they can find it drying - hydrolyzed corn starch is the second ingredient and there are people who's hair is sensitive to starches - there is a good amount of protein in this product which can make those with protein sensitive hair make it dry out unless using a good leave in
I did actually notice while doing research, it sounds like the ingredient list you're looking at is the new one (likely be a video on this next week) 😅 the one the most people complain about doesn't have the corn starch. I agree on the protein though and that's definitely fair. Some hair is more sensitive to it which likely makes it feel dry. I didn't know that about the polyacrylamide, so thank you for sharing. ☺
