  • CORRECTION OF VIDEO NOTE - For additional reference see page 3-47 to 3-62 in the FTR Owner Manual. THE SYSTEM CHECK NO LONGER AUTOMATICALLY JUMPS TO REGENERATE. AFTER THE SYSTEM CHECK A 'SELECTABLE REGENERATION REQUIRED' MAY DISPLAY ON THE MID. YOU MUST AGAIN DEPRESS AND RELEASE THE SWITCH TO BEGIN THE REGERATION.
    FOLLOW UP VIDEO FORTHCOMING.
    In this 'Isuzu Tip of Today' Michael Olden demonstrates the steps to request a manual regeneration of the DPF system. If you want to maximize the mileage and engine hours between the required deep burn cycle of your DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter), then make this part of your morning DOT walk around. If your not, the enjoy Vegas baby, because you are rolling the dice.
    The steps:
    Park in a location free from debris
    Put the truck in park
    Engage the park brake
    Depress and HOLD the manual regeneration button for 3 seconds.
    I look forward to working with you on your next truck need. Shoot me and email with your truck specification, or your service and operation question

    Thank you for the tutorial. When selecting the button for some seconds it will check the PM level. If required to Regen I had to push a second time then to actually start the cycle.

      You are correct!! Thank you for the help! I will update the video and make comment on the intro line of this video. For additional reference see page 3-47 to 3-62 in the FTR Owner Manual. The system check no longer automatically jumps to regenerate. The switch must be selected again if the MID displays the need for a selectable regeneration.

    They are great and fun when they are running. But man I got mine with 83k miles and now it has 103k. I’ve lost count of how many times its been in the shop…
    3rd time for DPF getting clogged.
    I’ve only owned if for 2 years.
    Run future buyers!!!

      Thank you for sharing your experience. I am interested in uncovering how the shop was unable to process the the filter. Was it an aftermarket location that is performing the service? It is unusual for a filter to last only 20,000 miles after a deep burn.
      The true process is for the filter to be removed and inspected for broken honeycomb and fracture breaks. If they exist to NOT perform a deep burn and vacuum service on the filter. The filter needs to be replaced with a non damaged filter. If the filter does not have visible damage, then a deep burn and vacuum is perform on the filter. If properly serviced the filter would be good for another 95,000 miles.
      As your truck experienced a much shorter life, I would encourage approaching the servicing company for confirmation of the services they provided.
      Unfortunately, there are some instances where the words "the system was cleaned and an extended regeneration was performed" are construed to mean they serviced the DPF filter. That is not the same as a removal and deep burn.
      I look forward to a continuing conversation regarding your experience and to confirming what part of the system was an issue.

    Hey Mike! I drive one of these for work and mine will have the PH level full and won’t tell me I need a manual regen. Do you know what might cause that? And even when I do the manual regen procedure the display will read “checking PM level” and then it will go away and continue to show a green display and shows that my PM level is full. If you have any idea or opinion on this that would be great!

      please forward a picture of the gauge reading - sorry for the delay in responding. I have been out of touch these last 11 days.
      As a rule, the manual regeneration check system would fault if there was an issue.
      I look forward to your picture molden@lee-smith.com

    can I do that while driving on the highway? Mine will not go over 5 miles an hour if I have to stop the truck in the middle of a regen cycle I have to pull over and wait till its finished . NO CODES thanks

    Hi, when I push it is supposed to sound a beep, if not beeping so is not working?

    • @MichaelOlden
      @MichaelOlden  Год назад +1

      No. No sound. Look at the MID screen on the center of the dash - Once held for 4 seconds a message will appear showing that it is going through a regeneration check. If needed it will progress. If not. It will not and you are GOOD TO GO!

  • @imallin971

    My 2011 NPR will not do this. It shows red SEL Regen Required light but after checking the PM, pressing it again will not cause it to go into regen.

      Seeing red is never a good thing. Sad to say if you have not updated you SCR since 2011 - it is probably due. This one may definitely need a technicians eye.

    Can you help me with something? I usually did regeneration myself. Today he suddenly did it on his own And he doesn't stop. It's constant revs at 2000. Can't I disable it somehow? Whatever I press doesn't work

    • @MichaelOlden
      @MichaelOlden  6 месяцев назад +1

      If this is still occurring please let me know the model year and miles. Please advise on the MID (multiinformation display) what the filter level it showing. Look at the back of the visor to determine where in the service cycle your truck is regarding the filter. Please send any available picture to molden@lee-smith.com Thanks!

    Where is the reefer tank located? I just started driving for a company, and this is my first time driving a refrigerated truck! Company didn't provide any information just the truck smh

    • @MichaelOlden
      @MichaelOlden  Месяц назад +2

      Most reefer units are plumbed to the fuel tank of the truck. Rarely is there a pony tank if your refrigeration unit is stand alone (not driver by the trucks engine).

    • @MichaelOlden
      @MichaelOlden  Год назад +1

      Gerald - What part of the truck is becoming a nightmare? Which system is creating the issue? The DPF? The DEF tank sending unit? There are times that mechanical frustrations need a vent, and I welcome those comments too. If I can get a little more feedback - it may lead to helpful insights for people experiencing similar issues. Thank you for you consideration is sharing more about the items you are dealing with or dealt with.
