Shame they use a USB3 port upon the Pi4 instead of USB2 - suspect was designed for before the Pi4 - hence adapter pack, and upon the PI3 - all ports are USB2 so wouldn't of mattered.
However you could get a short micro to USB cable and use that to connect via USB2 port and free up that USB3 bandwidth for something else more demanding.
Just ordered one today, found your video. Liked and subscribed!
I like that the speakers are optional. 💯
I think the market now is in need of different sizes of though screen monitor.
For example: 9 inch or 10 inch. Even a 4inch by 10inch monitor would be best for carrying backpack or laptop bag.
Imagine a 4 inch by 10 inch screen with a stand or clip on to a laptop screen would be an added feature for coder.
Apart from being able to regulate the brightness, it should also be possible to regulate the contrast
Looks great! Will get one asap :)
So it appears THIS screen is better organized than the wimaxit version
very nice, the only thing i don't like is the size and location of the speakers
can't wait till there is a CM4 low profile version
Nice little but pricey touch display for your pi4b could think of several tasks for that kit
how about a 27 inch for the pie
It's a pity the touch screen wastes a USB3 port. I'd prefer a version of this screen that uses a CM4 board.
It wouldn't be too hard to modify that USB adapter to plug into the USB 2.0 socket instead , make it a L shape to leave the USB 3 socket free.
What power supply are you using?
I'm having USB3 issues when things like my SSD hit full draw, using the official Pi power supply. Things work fine on the USB2 ports, but I'd rather have USB3 bandwidth for my SSD. I think a reliable supply greater than 3A would solve the problem, and trust any recommendation from you since you've got it all working great it your videos.
I was using the official Pi 4 adapter. A powered usb hub would help.

@@leepspvideo Thanks for the response. It helped me troubleshoot without having to buy anything else (yet). Knowing the official power supply should work, I tried different SSDs in case it was the drive itself drawing too much power but no dice there either.
So now I think I found the culprit: my SATA-USB adapters. Two of them use JMicron controllers and crap out every single time (I remember in a couple earlier videos you mentioned the Pi can be finicky about the adapter, and a quick Google suggests that Pis hate the JMicron controllers on USB3). My third adapter has a different chipset and works most of the time, but still fails on occasion.
Looking online, it seems ASMedia controllers are the favorite for RPis, so I'm going to find and order a couple adapters using those chips.
Again, thanks!

@@leepspvideo Thanks. It's coming on Monday. If it works as expected, I'll order another one -- do you have an affiliate link for it in the USA so that you can get a cut?

Thanks for sharing !
Not a bad little panel, I use KonstaKangs Android builds with it mainly. It's not as good as a real Android tablet, but pretty good for the Pi 4.
I would agree! It makes a great Android tablet (I'm running the latest Konstakang 14 version) and a perfect little Home Assistant console
hi , could you pls test it with Pi 5, thank you.
Is it possible to power the screen and Pi4 from a single power source (eg a battery pack) or do you need to provide separate power to both?
I have been sent some Pi sugar batteries. I will try soon.

Hi can you please check out osmc for pi4
Hi Lee. How did this set up do regarding heat and would you recommend fitting a fan?
If you Overclock I would fit a fan or one of these without the fan if you like silent cooling.

Can it be use in car audio?, power with a 5v cigarette adapter?
I don’t see why not
can we use dtoverlay = vc4-kms-V3D ? when I use this to boot will no signal output to screen, but dtoverlay = vc4-fkms-V3D is ok.
I haven’t tried. I guess from your tests it’s not supported. Try some other operating systems, see if you get the same results.
@@leepspvideo Thanks for reply, will have a try. ;)
This is exactly the same ELECROW 7" screen and at the exactly same price. It's funny how Chinese companies sell the same thing under different names
Does it have an input select so you can use the Pi HDMI as well as a second side HDMI device?
I haven’t found an input select. You can easily remove the Micro HDM to HDMI adapter.
Does that larger Maxit work with the Pi?
Yes

Can you fell find a CM4 Tablet solution? Ideally 10 inch Retina display. Would be a ipad and windows tablet killer
I have a CM4 arriving soon.
@@leepspvideo awesome! My dream device is something between SurfaceGo and Ipad Mini, but cpu is raspberry Pi. It’s gonna be a killer!
I know there’s one called cutiepi, but screen res is not really high.
Hi ! Is it possible to rotate the screen? To display in vertical position? Tnx
You could try adding lcd_rotate=90 to config.txt
@@leepspvideo OK i will try this. Many thanks for your reply
Hi neither lcd_rotate=1, nor lcd_rotate=90 work. It has no effect. I have tried also, display_rotate=1 and display_rotate=90, and it has no effect at all. Any idea? That's shame this 7 inches screen can't be verticaly used
I finally find. Juste comment in /boot/config.txt the line : #dtoverlay=vc4-fmks-v3d. Then display_rotate=1 works after reboot. It is displayed vertically
@@freespirit4976 it won’t be the display as it’s hdmi. It’s Down to the os
ruclips.net/video/RqNzKwZ0vaE/видео.html
Does it support WiMax?
why is the screen off-centered? it looks so damn stupid like that. the bezel is bigger on the right side than the left side.
For the same price I can buy a tv w/ larger screen.
People buy this for its size portability and touchscreen capabilities
for the price of $229 plus the PI I could buy a cheap laptop for that price
well, that is correct, but here there is some flexibility in terms of noise and power consumption, this is more like a project than a final product for everybody
i personally think that most people should get a laptop with touchscreen, yes, but i would love to get this setup, looks really cool tbh
You can't buy a $229 laptop that has fully programmable I/O pins under every major programming language, opensource ARM based powered by 5V, with a modular diy-replacement/hacking build like this one, with literally thousand application uses (sensing, robotics, IoT, embeddable into all sorts of cases/environments, emulation, etc) and supported by a million-based makers and a strong open philosophy like RPi's
@@alerey4363 while you are completely correct, not everybody wants to use that feature, some of us just want a cheap, low power, no noise and powerful enough linux machine for daily use
i personally can't find a use for it, apart perhaps from a possible fan, but i do prefer a completely silent machine
In the terms of cheaper and complete product , used mobile phone with Snapdragon 845 is at the same price as pi4 8gb in my place. It's is more powerful than pi4 , better power consumption, better CPU,gpu, WiFi ac ,great performance wireless display and other thing. But I still get pi 4 for its multi purpose.
What are you talking about? I got this and it is a piece of shit. Only one time i got a start but without function on my mouse!
My experience was different.
@@leepspvideo perhaps i got a Monday scrap... cause most of scrap is produced on mondays when mood level of te workers is by zero
