Part of the problem is the middle classes getting hosed every time there is an economic catastrophe. 2001, 2007, and 2019 all have pushed some people out into the streets, and others from gaining any economic security, while trillions of "dollars" have been printed and interest rates dropped to 0% to give free money to bankrupt corporations. All our taxes are going to keeping rich people in power instead of creating a strong country.

@@johndough201 you could but a lot of airplane tickets for 80k. But shipping them out doesn't fix the problem. If I understand the numbers correctly, the 2/3 of California homeless are addicted or have mental illness. The governor is spending money on building facilities (to lock them away), but you know that's not going to work. As for the other 1/3, they either want to be jobless and homeless or just can't afford housing because of outrageous building restrictions of the cities in question. All those tech sector people don't want homes for the poor to tarnish their neighborhood. As evidenced by the much higher rate of homelessness in California, it is an entirely homegrown phenomenon.

Also our water is not connected to the rest of the county.
So now with so many new units they are going to raise our rates by 27 percent next 3 years to pay for upgrades.
Our tax dollars to build new homes...just to make our commutes longer(Poway rd much?) And raise our utilities.
Screw the house push...if they want to build in small areas they should be made to pay for all the improvements needed.
Roads bus stops maybe a bypass or new freeway entrance....

But I do agree with you.
But instead of just giving developers free reign to build dense population into areas that are not yet equipped for it....Poway.
We should force the developer and the Cali government to make all necessary improvements to infrastructure before if not while they are bursting our town at the seems with new people.
      Don't get me wrong.
I know we have a housing problem and Poway has land to build. Let's do it.
But man...right on Poway road? There's so much land to build yet they want the easy way out...they don't want to anger the cyclist or the green activist.
So much land...yet let's build it right In the middle of town and connect it all to the old systems instead of the rest of the county from the start.
But this mentality of build higher build denser.....in Poway? With out a trolley station? With like 3 bus routes?
You ever try to get out or into Poway during rush hour?
I assume you know the woes of Mira Mesa and Mira Mar road.
Poway isn't much better and it's now only going to get worst.
I'm looking at empty hills where house and new roads and freeway entrances can built....but instead let's put a bunch of three story building in the middle of town.
Hills that are closer to the 15...closer to Mira Mesa and the trolley station
All at the tax payers expense.
Besides all that....what actually angers me is this.
Poway doesn't have a water source connected with the rest of the county. Would be fine if we kept our current population...or say grew at a reasonable rate?
How about the rolling blackouts outs every...single...summer. everytime.
Instead they are ramming in all these new building in and expecting the citizens to fit the bill.
They are raising all of Poway rates to pay for improvements to the infrastructure.
27 percent increase in the next 3 years.
That is official information. Look it up.
Why not make the developers and the government pay for it...oh because it's easier to just take my money i guess.
As for rent price....I agree with you. It's not right. And something has to be done.
It's not just rent prices that make a place livable....what about utilities?
I'm not a fan of government setting prices....but man people here are taking advantage of a bad house situation.

As someone who once was homeless, homelessness is a big problem in many communities. The goal of any community should be to get homeless people off the streets into safe shelters, into programs that treat whatever condition may be responsible for that person's homelessness, and working to reduce recidivism for those who are chronically homeless. Those things combined are a tall order for nearly all communities. I am not against "hostile architecture" but it does definitely need to be used in conjunction with shelters and other programs.

There is such a thing as compassion fatigue...and I believe - ALL ACROSS THE COUNTRY - we've passed that boundary.
There are three types of homeless: 1) those suddenly displaced, who will recover, 2) those who are structurally displaced or mentally afflicted (psychologically impaired) and would benefit from outreach, and 3) the deliberately dysfunctional and professionally parasitic whose drug addiction, sociopathy, or simple socially-parasitic personality traits would not benefit from anything. Help group 1 & 2. Group 3 is likely at the root of 95%+ of all the issues festering in today's cities.
Group 3 would be better off being put on an island with all the drugs they want until they coke themselves to death. They get what they want -- free drugs - and we get peace and quiet. We also get to help the first two groups who would benefit disproportionately from community safety nets.
Group 3? Well, offer addiction rehabilitation. 1st time is on us. 2nd time is on them. But let them all steal, fight, threaten, and ruin each other.

We need forced stay mental hospitals. Alot of these homeless can't take care of themselves. What is more humane to let someone with mental disabilities wonder the streets covered in filth and feces (poop and urine) or to (yes against their will lock them up where they have rules to follow, will get 3 square meals a day and access to a shower on a regular basis). I drive a bus alot of people think that these people can't find jobs ( for a small amount of the homeless that is true but for the majority of them they have mental illness and need help) just cause you give a dollar to a person on the side walk and they sound perfectly sane for a 1 or 2 minute conversation they are most likely not that sane. Try talking to them for a 15 minutes or half hour and you will start to see the cracks. Try dealing with them on a regular basis and you will see the problem. Most people have no idea what these homeless go through. They get beat up they starve they get sunburned BADLY they have fleas in some cases they often smell horrible like your trash can on a summer day x 10. Bottom line is they need help and they don't want help because they have mental issues and alot come from a bad childhood if you listen to their stories. If we want to be humane and do the right thing we HAVE to get these people into live in mental hospitals where they will be supervised every day. Instead we turn a blind eye and call them lazy because we don't want to take the time to understand the problem or spend the tax dollars on live in hospitals to solve the problem. All men and women are created equal (BUT NOT ALL MEN AND WOMEN ARE BORN WITH THE SAME basic MENTAL capabilities) if we call ourselves civilized then we need to give these people the care, facilities and attention that they can not give themselves. This would also free up alot of the programs and shelters for the homeless that are just down on thier luck and have the mental fortitude and capacity to navigate the programs and paper work associated with those programs so that they can get back on their feet and get help. We take better care of animals then we do of humans who are not capable of mental reasoning or understanding Instead we Shun them and push them out to some new place where we don't have to look at them and then we go adopt a rescue pet (sad) these people need hospitals forced stay hospitals where they can get care and help and until we are ready to spend the time and money to do this as well as change are thinking on What are basic human rights (when it comes to someone not being able to care for themselves due to mental handicaps) NOTHING WILL CHANGE.

Yes. This. We're failing a lot of these people. I'm all for complete freedom and autonomy, but you have to have to ability to govern yourself. • @caruniv3287
      @caruniv3287 Год назад +4

Yes I agree with you. How can we expect these people to lead clean productive lives when alot of them clearly lack basic reasoning capabilities. If we want them to get help we as a society have to be the ones to see they get it. Alot of them have a child's cognitive ability. Most of us wouldn't just toss a child to the streets ( I say most not all ) forced stay hospitals are the most humane solution to this problem where they will be supervised 24/7. Will it be free of course not but the choice is either keep kicking the problem of homelessness down the road to the next town or deal with it.

To those opposed to hostile architecture: let me put it like this. Say you have a small business that gets lots of customers, things are going well. Then a few homeless folks come along to hang out by the doors and ask “spare change” to your patrons. As the weeks progress, you notice a decline in sales. You check the online reviews and they say: “great store, excellent service, but there’s homeless folks loitering outside the doors hankering me for money every time I visit. I’m not a walking ATM, and the owners do nothing about it.” You consider what to do, so you begin to tell the homeless to vacate your business because you feel hostile architecture is mean spirited. They politely say they’ll leave, but an hour later they’re still there. You tell them to leave again, but they stay put. So you call the police to evict them. They finally leave, but they eventually return a few weeks later. Rinse and repeat what previously happened. Frequent police activity and homeless people constantly at your business drive more customers away. This lowers your property values and runs your once prosperous business out of business. All this because you were too good natured to put some hostile architecture up.

SOMEONE, ANYONE, to tell me that I can be more than a junky in the literal gutter. I. Used. Drugs. In. The. Gutter. You think you're doing anyone any favors by allowing people to live like this? This isn't a life. This isn't freedom. These people, these humans, deserve much more than this, but you can't see past the end of your own nose. You're not helping anyone with your worthless, stupid, online opinions, keyboard warrior. If you think I don't know what the problems are, you're so UNBELIEVABLY wrong. I have survived the problems!!!!!! Despite my own best efforts to stop living on this earth. Get. Bent.
How's this for special ed: I'm in college now working on a SECOND, yes, a SECOND degree, and I'm afforded "special ed" accommodations under federal law to ensure that I have a fair shot at what everyone else does, to ensure EQUITY (not equality, which is absolute liberal bullshit and will never exist because nature never intended for equality among sexes or species). Does that make me less than you??? The federal law protects me against bigots like you. I can outthink and out-wright you any day. I've worked HARD for those skills. You have clearly not. I have worked VERY hard to learn how to reframe my thinking and to think independently. Don't you EVER tell me who and what I am. I know myself better than I ever have in my whole entire 38 years on this earth as a woman. As a human being. Don't you DARE. You. Will. Not. Win any intellectual battle against me. If you're gonna tell someone they're retarded online, start with good grammar. Cuz you looked stupid at your very first word.

Homeless people shouldn't be allowed to put tents on the streets. Period. If they don't want to follow the rules of shelter and want to continue taking drugs and live like the streets belong to them only by urinating and destroying public property, then they should be told to take the bus or train and go somewhere else.

These people who tried to take advantage of you should be punished. However, this doesn't mean that streets become the home of those who need shelter and that public property is ruined and unhygienic living conditions are allowed to be carried on.

@@ppraish I get that. But Shelters are not always a safe haven. No most women workers are not looking to take in homeless men for sex. But the male workers are different. It's low hanging fruit for them. There are also pimps/drug dealers in these shelters scouting for new girls. There are bad cops, judges, and pastors. So surely you don't think these shelter workers are saints. Women shelter workers often work for pimps too. Homeless men are rarely the target. Homeless women are extremely vulnerable so it attracts predators. That's why telling someone to blindly just go to a shelter is worse. The people are ALIVE. Screw your public property. It can be replaced. That's what's wrong with this world. We value property over life. People should stop spending so much to live there. Let the homeless have the city, and watch how quickly they respond. The ones with income can afford to leave. Yet they complain about the ones who can't even afford to live?

    • @ppraish

@@minachoo-ho1362 sorry I disagree with you. People are not meant to live on the streets. That's why there's a house, apartment, shelter, etc. If someone has major problems with shelters, I'm pretty sure they can complain to the senators, government representatives. There's good and bad people everywhere. Homeless people have created a mess in San Francisco, Los Angeles. I couldn't believe my eyes the number of tents I saw in Los Angeles and the filth and graffiti. The public places belong to the residents and businesses in those cities as well. They have the right to live there and maintain cleanliness and hygienic living conditions. The last thing you want is taxpayers to leave the city and the state since their taxes support various government programs, even for the homeless people. Also these homeless tents turn away visitors as well and people feel threatened when they see homeless people attacking and killing others. There are real life stories of homeless people getting killed and robbed by other homeless people when they live on the streets in their tents. It's not safe for them even on the streets. if a shelter is sexually abusing the homeless people it's supposed to support, then that should be reported to the mayor, Governor, senator, etc. Not everybody is corrupt. The homeless people can't just tell the residents and businesses to go screw themselves and let homeless people do whatever they want. This is selfishness on their part. That's not how a society is supposed to function.

@@ppraish LMAO! Tell who? You are big trippin. Nobody believes them nor cares what they have to say about poor shelter conditions. If the conditions in the shelter are worse than the streets that speaks volume. Exactly, if all tax payers leave and the officials are stuck with only the homeless maybe they'd do something. The people that can afford to leave should leave or stop paying. I heard Utah has a low homeless rate. The homeless are residents as well, that's what the housed residents don't understand. When thousands of residents cannot afford to be housed the government needs to do something about housing, not create deterrents that won't solve the issue. Like I said, if you've never been there, you won't understand. I too used to think there was help for the homeless. There isn't. It's truly devastating. The tax payers have more control than the homeless, they can demand there be real solutions.
