Mobile Home Sub Floor Repair. How to replace under walls.
Working on Mobile Home Sub Floor and wall problems.
Replacing under the walls on a mobile home sub floor can be difficult. We also ran into rotten bottom plate on the mobile home walls. We ended up replacing the 2 x 4 band board around the outside bottom edge of walls.

A man gave me a old trailer for free. It was in about the same condition as this one. I fixed it up for my mother and I to live in. We are truely grateful.
That is so awesome. I’m glad to hear there ar still good people in the world
Pauls a hard worker he needs a raise looks like he does alot more work
He makes between 20 and 40 per hr. Paul is a great worker
I’m hooked on your videos! I like how unedited they are, just you guys working, and then also seeing into mobile home construction, not just another million dollar home build. 👍
I am so grateful for you watching all of us the reason we make these videos is so that we can show you how we do it some people do it other ways I just feel like the way we do it is the best way and I like helping other people they can possibly help themselves so thank you for watching

From your videos I have learned that ALMOST EVERY trailer home needs to be rebuilt.
Lol 😂

If it were mine I would rebuild. Cheap living.
I only discovered y'all a couple of months ago when y'all were fixin that one roof. My dad and I live in an old trailer that we try to fix up when we have the money. Watching your videos helps me learn a bit of stuff that I may need to do with my trailer.
Awesome I’m glad I could help ring that bell notifications so you don’t miss any videos

Is there another video after this? I wish they were numbered so I can watch these in order. I used to do this with my father years ago but he has passed. I'm now learning to do this all on my own and your videos are so helpful now that he is gone. It's time to get back into the game.

glad I saw this cause I have to do the same thing on the room and laundry room water damage from air-conditioning and rain coming off the roof I believe but as he said gotta get it done😣👍
You can do it I promise you can do it
It's my first commend on RUclips and I had to write this comment to tell you guys great job!!!
Thanks so much!!
These videos are unexpected and very helpful you’re doing great work sir
Thank you. I have lots of them. If your looking for something that will help let me know. I might have a video on it.
@@Drewsroofingandhomerepair specifically the water barrier/liner that holds up the insulation between your flooring; I had to rip it out (I can see dirt under the floor beams). Do I need some liner and a staple gun and just call it a day? One video you had it was already done, this one shows it before it’s done
@@Drewsroofingandhomerepair I live in Florida where it gets real hot but not too cold.
Yes. I think what your saying is great If not a staple gun you can wrap 1 side in a 2x2 and bring it across and do the same thing on the other side. You will have to cut it here and there but it works well
Last summer I bought 2 acres of land with a single wide, that was abandoned for 5 years. Luckily the floor beams and outer frame beams are still good. Replaced the windows and rotted wood around them from the leaks. Have to remove and replace all the wall board. Mud dobbers and mouse poop is behind all the wall board.
Going to replace the sawdust floor boards with new 3/4 plywood. Floors creak all over the mobile. So I'm enjoying the videos and learning how to do the floors correctly. 👍🏽
I’m glad you like it. Many videos.

@@Drewsroofingandhomerepair I watch all the videos you put out each day. The floor repair series has showed me I can tackle anything that pops up once I cut the floor out. No matter what I find in my 80's single wide. 👍🏽
I appreciate you posting these videos Drew. 🙏🏽
I do it for people just like you. Or anybody that can’t afford to hire a contractor. Contractors can charge a lot of money to do jobs like to use. And if you can’t afford it and you have to do it yourself. That is the reason I make my videos for people just like you or the people that cannot afford to have somebody else do it for them.
@@Drewsroofingandhomerepair Drew, I have been subscribed to you for over a year. I wanted to buy some land with an old home or trailer on it and I finally got what I wanted. Your mobile home roof videos and floor videos are what I like. Even though the roof on my mobile is fine. I know how to fix it because of your videos.
I appreciate your work and posting the videos. 🙏🏽 Thank You.
as always amazing Video, Amazing work!
We try to do it the correct way

Glad I could help
If it’s made of wood, you can fix it guaranteed I look forward to hearing about your experience. Please be kind and come back and tell me about it. I would love to hear how my videos help you through the process. Thank you for the visit.
great work guys
Thank you Bob
Looking good yall
Yes it is
love watching ur videos cuz i recently bought a 1979 singlewide in southwest Fl. They remodeled inside and enclosed the carport. But didn't replace the old OSB and the bottom outside plate has bad termite damage. I need to replace the 2x6 plates and the OSB. Give me the strength and luck lord!
You are lucky to have 2x6. This 1 has 2x4
You can do it I know you can
Y'all do some great work together
Many yrs of experience we worked together for a long time
He started working for me when he was 23
Looking good guys! Keep up the good work! You guys rock!
Thank you Miss Gloria
What part of Florida do you live in Gloria
Deltona, FL
Awesome
I have been to Daytona but I have never been to Deltona. If I ever make it to Florida I look forward to coming to see you at Deltona
Thanks!
Thank you 🙏 for watching the video
At around 16 30 on timer I would love to see a closer look at what paul is doing to the wall

Effin A+!!! Learned so much in such little time... You guys are a great team! What's the approximate labor cost for replacement of that rim joist? Ty
If you do it yourself just a few hundred dollars.
Lets say I hire someone... approx? Thanks for the quick reply
I have windows that has had window air conditioning in and all of the has leaked water in and rotted the walls down to the floor, and I'm a widow on a budget that's why im in this trailer and im in my 60 but im going to try to do my bathroom like you guys did but I was wondering if you guys have a video showing how to hook everything back up after you pull out all the garage
If you go back to my videos and look about one year into my videos, you will see us doing the whole house start to finish go back 1 and a half yrs

ruclips.net/video/AkpnswhaQ0U/видео.htmlsi=q6gvLualGWa4TAvU
It’s been about a year and a half so if you go back to my videos and you look at the date, it was done go back to a year and then keep scrolling until you see us inside this mobile home. Lots of videos on this.
I'm going to replace the sill plate on my Floating Cabin.... what do you recommend I use under the new sill plate? Do I seal the 2x4 with sealing paint? Do I use a vinyl flooring? A roofing sealant material?
The wood under your sill plate is Whitewood pine. It does not have to be painted. It’s not painted now so when you take it out and put it back in you don’t have to paint it. I have a Lotta videos on this if you look around you’ll see my sill plate video, my band video
Good job Drew. Was that just a 2x4 on the outside wall or a 2x6? I think it's called a rim joist. My MH is a 1970 and it has either a 2x6 or a 2x8.
2x6 rim joist.
Thursday 75 for you 24 for me. Looks like the Albuquerque metro area is finally getting snow I hope.
I hate snow you can keep it all
We'll take every bit of it we can take. It's how we replenish the aquafirs underground. That's where we get our drinking water
True
I wish it was 75 degrees here id probably be done with my trailer. It's kinda rough working on it in single digits .
I don’t like working in single digits
I'm looking at a property with some bad rot in a mobile home.. This is helpful May need you to do this for me...
If it’s made of wood you can fix it trust me it’s worth it.
Do you‘s people paid $20,000 for the property and the house. By the time they’re done they’ll probably have 60 in it total so you can’t buy something like that for 60 g know where
@@Drewsroofingandhomerepair The property I'm looking at ,they are asking 45K with a 94' singlewide and 1 end is rotted from top to bottom. 5-6 studs gone and top and bottom plates are all but gone...I think it leaked around a sky light..It's hard to get a loan with it in bad shape
Wow if it is that bad maybe not for you. How much land is there
@@Drewsroofingandhomerepair less than 1/4 acre
3 recipercating saws hahah I like it no wasting time when batteries die
Exactly
It's crazy how they build mobil homes. We are renovating a double wide and we discovered that they used 3/4 inch thick baseplate for the 2x4 exterior walls. So basically the subfloor is layed down on the joist and then they use 3/4 baseplate and then build the wall with 2x4s. Funny thing is they did use 2x4s for the top plate. They even doubled up the 2x4s for the top plate where the roof attaches. Oh and my God ! What's up with all the staples they use!??!!??....seriously they could probably double their profits by cutting back just half of all the staples they use. It's ridiculous! Lol!
I agree with everything you said 100% oh my God
I live in a 2005 mobile home floor is good but I’m putting down 3/4 plywood on top of subfloor to handle my 215 gallon aquarium you think I’ll be ok with that should I support it underneath with brick not holding you to it just lookin for advice
I’m not sure what you’re talking about are you putting down three-quarter inch plywood on top of the subfloor in the whole entire house or just under the fishing tank? I’m curious love to answer your questions I would never put a layer of flooring on top of i’ll let are there is there
If you put some three-quarter inch underneath your fishing tank if that’s what you’re talking about that’ll be fine it will hold it
Just under the tank sir sorry I didn’t specify
Yes that will be fine
I'm begging to wonder with my one outside end wall, if I should just build a wall inside of that wall then tear out the outside wall..... Then windows and siding. Done
Yes. That is what we did here
@@Drewsroofingandhomerepair I think that's the route to go with these 70s leaky bastards. Thanks man
It would be great to see what the other guy is doing
ruclips.net/video/a-tDntNhhJo/видео.html
Question....if the subfloor isn't rotted under the wall baseplate ,is it still recommended that it be removed when replacing the subfloor? In other words the subfloor that is being replaced is rotted in the middle of the sheet. The subfloor under the wallpaper is perfect. Is it OK to just cut up to the wall baseplate and lay the new subfloor up to it?
ruclips.net/video/g0iuSbplZKg/видео.html
I never remove the wood under the wall unless I absolutely have to I say, leave it make sure you use blocking.
Just wondering how far up the studs the rot has gone
That’s a good question it doesn’t really matter 2 inches or a foot you can sister the side of it down to the bottom play again screw them together sell it again you can even put one on both sides if you like
I'm stuck in a rut.. I've worked on a couple mobile homes and houses but the one tht I bout it totally like I've ever seen. Floor joist is running the opposite way of wat y'all are working on. An like most homes stud wall sits on sill plate my stud wall is notched to sit on rim joist help plz
I have done them like that before that won’t be the only one that can also be repaired be careful your outside walls are sitting on much I would probably go outside and put some bracing on the outside walls before you do the floor
@@Drewsroofingandhomerepair that's what I was thinking and my floor joist are running longitudinal with the trailer, would it be best to run them transverse or replace them back like they are now??
Replace them back like they are
@@Drewsroofingandhomerepair ok thank you and one more quick question. The floor joist are smaller than a 2×6 would it hurt anything if I just used a 2×6 instead of ripping it?
Send me pictures to 910-294-1761 you can also call me
First you should burn the thing down to the axles, then start building with materials meant for a home
We actually got that thing back together pretty well. All it took was a little bit of patience
ruclips.net/video/qNkSuNa7I8A/видео.html
That's right if you have the extra money to do the stuff
I never leave any rotting wood behind.
Make a like 2-3 hour video like most of the videos yall will prep to do the work and the vid ends before yall can do it
So many videos coming out you won’t miss anything if that’s what you’re saying I need to see
What goes under the insulation? On the underside of the house.
More videos to come you should see that in the next video
I do board
Insulation

Quick fix. Gallon of gas a match walk away.
lol
Scrap it already
Mark, you would not believe what this place looks like today we have transformed this place into a little castle new siding new windows, new sheet rock new insulation, new lights new cabinets. We turned it into somebody’s home again after it sitting there for 10 years it is now somebody’s home where they can lay their head down on a pillow and be comfortable with no leaks.
Camera guy ? Not quite understanding your roll ? And those screws on the back of the trailer are still waiting for you !!🤔
Thank you
Thank you
Too much camera movement. No real tutorial video.
I do have other videos. I hope they help you more.
Would you take donations (money ) for helping me with some info about renovations..like question and walk me thru some of this stuff? That would be a nice way to monetize your channel
How about I do out for a mirror video and while the video is being played I will be sitting there live answering questions. Does that sound like something you would be interested in?
