Thank you for watching! What's a piece of furniture or decor that you regretted buying? And what made you regret it? We all make mistakes - it's part of the creative process, unfortunately!

❤ I go to antique stores or thrift stores to find my pieces that I want. I tend to try to find a second hand piece that is quite unique

I bought a chair from Amazon for my desk area and I thought grey was a good neutral color but I regret buying it because it is too low to the ground and the grey stains easily.. I did buy a slip cover and I like the cover as it’s easily cleaned,, I think I might try to find some chair legs that are 10 inch are higher

Definitely a difference between a dresser that hides in a "closet situation" as opposed to a dresser that U look at every day.
    Especially in a Studio.

My biggest mistake is the metal bed frame. It weighs a ton, was nearly impossible to assemble (I had to hammer several joints together because the holes didn’t line up), I have trouble dusting under it (it’s not your typical style), it makes the bed so high, I have to almost take a running jump to get into it… Because it’s so heavy, I’ll need help removing it. I’ll probably have to wait till spring.

    My décor regrets:
Painting the hall peach. Don’t know why this didn’t work, but it didn’t. Repainted after only a few weeks.
My living room rug, which is constantly moulting fluff. I can pick up handfuls every day, despite also vacuuming every day. I think this problem will resolve itself, as pretty soon it’s going to be bald.
The feather-filled cushions on my couch. Feathers constantly poking through the cushion cover.
Other than that, things are pretty much stable!

I have this small 6-drawer cart I got from Kohl's several years ago (I googled it, it's called Linon Casimer drawers at Office Depot) it was the biggest PAIN to put together!!! I tried putting it together myself at home before I realized I needed to haul the entire thing to my mom's so I had a second set of hands to hold it while one of us DRILLED THE MISSING PILOT HOLES 😑 That was the biggest pain I've ever had putting together furniture! I think it took at least an hour to assemble. Stay away!
I also agree the Ikea MALM drawers are great! I had them in high school (so like.... 15+ years ago!), and my mom still has it in her garage (although one drawer has eventually fallen off the track, the rest are still good) So long as you take care of it, it can last a LONG time!

My shopping for home is something like this:
First thought: OMG!! I love it, I need it, this is wonderful...
    Second thought: But... Cats!!! 😂😂😂
    Every single time...
Cat hair is part of my decor, my clothes, my style, ... 😂😂😂😂

Target stuff is horrible to assemble. I built a table in woodshop from scratch-cutting, planing, assembly, sanding, all of that took less time than putting together a target dresser by myself

Measurements are everything. Measure everything you have and wish to keep, anything you wish to buy at the store or look for measurements online or on the box, and the space you are planning on putting such piece of furniture. Do your research on how to select the perfect piece of furniture according to performance and personal preferences, and read reviews from across sites to get a better idea of how a piece performs.

omg we bought the worst night stands from Target when we first moved into our house...I was so sad bc they were so cute and looked like they'd be perfect. I accidentally bought 3 which was my mistake, they took ages to assemble, but the worst was the SMELL! Like some horrible chemical formaldehyde nastiness. We did everything to try to get them useable. Vinegar, essential oils, left outside for literally like a week and and a half, then put in the garage for another week or so...the smell diminished but it was still so overwhelming. We finally had to donate them (the smell was mild enough by then that someone could hopefully stand it!). I was so bummed. We ended up getting new ones from West Elm that didn't smell like something horrible happened.

I got some knock off Eames style chairs off of Amazon. They're really pretty and surprisingly comfortable - however they are a pain to clean. They scratch easy and perma-dirt settles into the scratches. The screws also somehow magically loosen themselves and- not once but twice in five years- I've sat down and the legs fly out from under and I fall. I just keep a routine of tightening bolts and screws regularly now and it's fine...but I would absolutely not recommend these. Cute and affordable but ultimately demonic and cheap for a reason. Edit: they are the acrylic with wood legs, mid-century modern style.

Because I have both a black cat and black dog, I got a slipcover sofa. Hard to get the cover off and impossible to get back on. It never looks right. I have never liked the looks of slipcovers, but thought it would be practical . . . not so much. Now I'm stuck with a granny couch. Not granny chic, mind you, just ugly granny.

i LOVE videos like this, i can get caught up in the aesthetic/ price of some things + these videos really help me think about things i wouldn't consider. i do kind of regret getting a "matching bedroom set" lol; i don't totally regret it bc i got 2 solid wood nightstands, a nice mirrored dresser + a cal king bed frame w headboard all for $300 on marketplace before i had a strong sense of personal interior style. have used it for 5 years + the main regret comes from how dark/ bulky the set is as well as everything being very angular with sharp corners. going to be replacing each item one by one as i find new pieces that better suit my place/ style.
ALSO I ABSOLUTELY CANNOT WAIT FOR YOUR NEW COUCH!!! I may end up getting the same one to replace my 8+ year old janky pleather Ikea sectional lol.

First of all, the quality we expect "today" is not there even in more expensive stores; Ikea has certainly lost the quality it used to have; I can't shop there anymore. Yes, Malm dresser was good. I have downsized my expectations this year for quality in home goods overall but I keep looking in the thrift stores, vintage, donations of good furniture that people want to get rid of??? and think we are heading into a "new traditional" phase of more quality true comfort. So far...I can't find one comfortable chair. grr.

I've bought a couple furniture pieces off Facebook marketplace on a whim (caught in the excitement of the bargain hunt 😂) and they haven't really been that practical. I wish I had looked for something bigger that would better fill the space and maximised storage.

And yeah the IKEA wardrobe I’m not surprised. Their stuff can be hit or big miss!!

They cheapen out on the fabrication by doing just one side with the nice fabric.
